Offering blistering performance and substantial power, the third iteration of Porsche’s GT2 was based upon the 997 Turbo and features a 6-speed manual transmission connecting the rear wheels to a twin-turbocharged Mezger engine. Less than 200 units were reportedly delivered to the United States in total, and this example is said to have been the only finished in Meteor Grey Metallic out of the 25 cars sold in the final model year. It was generously optioned with exclusive seatbelts in Speed Yellow, black-painted wheels, the Interior Carbon Package, Sport Chrono Package, Bose Surround Sound System, and more. Showing approximately 17k miles, this rare and exceptionally well-appointed 997 GT2 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.
Sharing its wide bodywork and rear side air intakes with the 911 Turbo, the GT2 can be distinguished by its unique front and rear fascia as well as a fixed rear wing with integrated air scoops on either side. The GT2 also comes standard with Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) including yellow-painted calipers. This example is finished in Meteor Grey Metallic and factory-optioned with red taillights as well as black-painted 19” GT2 wheels. Clear paint protection film has been applied over the full front end up to the door panels and the seller adds that the car has never been subjected to track use, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, the black leather cabin features deviated stitching and a pair of folding Sports Bucket Seats with exclusive seatbelts in Speed Yellow as well as the Interior Carbon Package, Carbon Package Switch Panel, and a rear center console in carbon fiber. Other options include a Bluetooth interface for mobile phones, Navigation Module for PCM, XM Radio, Universal Audio Interface, and Bose Surround Sound System. The 997.2 generation also receives an updated interior with a newer Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system.
The 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine in the 997 GT2 is equipped with twin Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG) turbochargers and produces up to 530 HP and 505 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission while stopping power comes from vented ceramic composite brakes paired with 6-piston front and 4-piston rear aluminum monobloc calipers. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH takes place in approximately 3 seconds with a top speed of over 200 MPH. The CARFAX report shows the initial pre-delivery inspection completed at Porsche of San Diego where the car was continually maintained up until 2013. Subsequent service was performed by other Porsche dealers in California, New York, and Texas including a thorough inspection by Porsche of Plano in 2019 at 17,580 miles.
This sale will include a clean title.

@allthingsporsches THERE ISN’T ANOTHER GT2 2009 built IN THIS COLOR !!! Big deal !!
@allthingsporsches i believe it. i agree with you.
@marcromano you won’t be able to get a 2008 for 350k ? One on bring a trailer did 370k , it was a regular black car with no options at all , as I said no bucket seats ? No deviated stitching , no full leather , Grand Prix I believe asking 390 for it
Bid in the amount of $290,000
Bid in the amount of $280,000

@userabc123 i would not let it go for under 350. foolish to accept anything less.
@userabc123 Color combo perfection
@userabc123 agree. way under the money all things considered.
There were less then 200 gt2 shipped to the US. One of the rarest 911 ever. Way under the money here.
@alizadeh.pourya1 very true sir , 996 GT2 go for way more , not even starting that every 2008 that you can find is black and has no options like bucket seats , deviated stitching , and standing online close to 400k , this is a 2009 people the rarest of them all , in 1of1 color with the best build possible
@userabc123 no. but she's an accident waiting to happen
270k for a 997 gt2 y’all are crazy if I had the money I wouldn’t think two times for this car.
Bid in the amount of $272,500
@MezgerTT Bucket list coin on this one. Whoa. I'd be scared to track it.
@marcromano do you have a dme report on her?

Last 2 hours left of the auction , good luck to all the bidders on this 1of1 GT2 in meteor grey mettalic !!!! definitly won’t find another ! This car will forever appreciate
Have been blessed in life to own many cars. Currently own a few Porsche’s including a 2008 GT2 as well as an 08 GT3. Can honestly say that the 997.1 GT2 is one of the best cars I’ve own. Yes, the factory exhaust is a bit muted (that’s easily fixed); however, the power, power delivery, road feel and road presence is superior to my 997.1 GT3 IMHO. This is a bucket list Porsche.
Bid in the amount of $250,000
@Nomad52 because it has been flipped a few times (Quick sell NOT accidents)
Bid in the amount of $215,000
Bid in the amount of $205,000
Clean DME report, especially for the number of miles, and that single 5 was over 10k miles ago.
I've driven mine every day for the last week. To the office, bombing around the back roads, the the gym. While missing the wail of the high-revving N/A engine in the GT3, this car makes me smile more because it requires so little effort to enjoy. The car is always ready to have fun, unlike the GT3 which requires room to play.

@gsjdvm that’s with the 996
Mezgers (Turbo/GT2/GT3) do have IMS bearings, but they are oil fed journal bearings and not subject to failure like the sealed roller bearings on the rear side of the engine in the 997.1 Carreras. Carreras have a journal bearing on the front end of the IMS and that one doesn't fail either.
Bid in the amount of $190,000
@gsjdvm we have found the DME report from when we purchased the car ! They will be posting it , honostly even that will not do anything per the engine of this car , completly irrelevant
@allthingsporsches Ha, I agree except for the famous accidental 4th to 3rd when going for 5th at full tilt.
@gsjdvm we are trying to get one , due to the holiday weekend we can’t really get into anywhere as the shops are closed but we will try our best to do this on Tuesday morning before auction close , but DME report is complete useless on GT2 vehicles as the engine is unbreakable
Do you have a DME report?
@allthingsporsches Thanks, great to hear!
@gsjdvm sir the ims bearing was only for the Carrera cars ! Not in the turbos or GT2 cars , gt2 cars are UNBREAKABLE, I own many
@allthingsporsches Do you know if it has an IMS bearing, which was a weak point of the 997.1 engine
@gsjdvm 997.2 is the GT2Rs, porsche for 2009 just changed the interior PCM dash that’s from the .2, and only made 25 GT2 cars , 2009 is the rarest GT2 of them all , and this one happens to be the ONLY ONE. Painted in meteor grey mettalic out of the 25 cars !
@TubeGuy. Why do you say this is a 997.1 instead of a 997.2?
Bid in the amount of $175,000
@HashishJackson not sure who you are , but very nice words , very true , and we appreciate it !
I can vouch for the seller that he is honest and meticulous with his cars. Only wants the best and sells the best
Buy with confidence!
Phenomenal example. I own a black 08 GT2. I have owned many special 997 variants. I can say without question the GT2 and GT2RS feel like they were injected with the special sauce from stuttgart. This car will be worth a small fortune in the future. There is zero downside to this car. I’m watching closely and honestly tempted.
@Hastings_ah we do not
Any under body pictures taken, with panels removed?
Technically this is a 997.1
I've bought and sold low-mileage Porsche GT cars without PPI. Assuming the paint is original, I'd by this one. After you've seriously shopped, with a real intention to buy, and indeed bought cars like this, you can sniff things out.
So if any PPI requesters are serious then step up. This car is a unicorn. And the best color for a .2 GT2 as it looks so stealthy. Flat-out bad-ass.
Attention bidders. We would like it at this point for anyone interested in performing a PPI at their expense prior to bidding message the seller privately to have that arranged. Let’s keep the comments pertaining to questions directly about the vehicle. Thank you for your understanding.
@marcromano if you are not comfortable with the information given , please do not bid , there’s been 1000s of auctions here not one has offered a ppi in the middle of the auction
@drkirmayer i think you meant to also send this to the seller. you only sent to me.
@allthingsporsches Getting a ppi done during bidding benefits everyone with interest including you, the seller. As long as it's done by a porsche dealer. This is a big ticket item. You're asking someone to spend six figures on an auto where pictures and words are the only information available to them. No service records since 2019 and your word saying "this car is a 10"? The community should be asking for a PPI before bidding anything in my opinion. The cost to you would be $500. My point of view.
@drkirmayer thank you so much !
That would be very much appreciated. Checked out your website. You’ve sold some incredible Porsches.
@drkirmayer yes sir , the car came out of Lamborghini dealership in California that did all standard maintenance like oil change ect , I will try to get a record from them , if you go to my site allthingsporsches.com , we have sold many of these and specialize in Porsches , this car is a 10 ! Not a flaw !
Agree these cars are nearly indestructible & reviewed Carfax report. But nothing showing after August 2019. Has any routine service, such as oil change & filter, been done since then.
@drkirmayer unfortunately the owners didn’t save the service receipts , but the car as you see in the Carfax has gotten lots of service , let alone these cars are UNBREAKABLE sir , Iam sure whoever owns one or have owned one will give you the same answer
@marcromano Concern would be if anyone major on PPI, already committed to purchase as high bidder. Could you provide more detailed service records from the 2019 Porsche of Plano inspection through most recent service?
@drkirmayer if you are the winning bidder and want a ppi , we are happy to do so , even though there isn’t a porsche dealer near us
Very interested. Currently own gt2rs. Would you be willing to have a PPI performed by Porsche dealership while bidding still open?
Absolutely beautiful. I'd sell my anniversary edition for it.
The seller needed to show the rear exhaust first during the cold startup. That's important but it didn't happen.

@Nomad52 not exactly sure no , but can’t get worse from inspections , anyone wanting to come
Check out the car in person , feel free , will be posting a video of the car , paint meter readings and DME report
Any idea why this car has had 3 four wheel alignments and multiple wheel/tire inspections?
"Unicorn" doesn't begin to define this spec for me. Absolute perfection here...
have a 997.2 GT3 in meteor gray i want to match this to. i'm sure this will go worlds over my budget, but i can dream.
Bid in the amount of $150,000
Bid in the amount of $102,666
Bid in the amount of $300
That is a very desirable example of 997.1 GT2 with color, mileage, and options on its side. The 2009 model is quite special and even rarer than the 2008 of course, and the PCM 3.0 upgrade is a very nice factory upgrade. GLWTA!
