Up for auction is this 2009 Porsche 997.2 Carrera S finished in Porsche Racing Green Metallic over a Sand Beige interior.  The second phase 997.2 was debuted with an optional dual-clutch PDK transmission and a new direct fuel-injected flat-six engine which offered greater performance and reliability.  Highlighting an original build sheet totaling over $100k, this 2009 example features a rarely seen color combination, the Bose High End Sound Package and Sport Chrono Package Plus.  This beautifully configured Carrera S is now being offered for auction under a branded title showing approximately 88k miles on the odometer.

The rarely seen Porsche Racing Green Metallic finish is noted to be in excellent condition (detailed images are proved in the photo gallery).  Purchased by its current owner several months ago with a salvage title, this Carrera S had previously sustained some front-end damage which has since been professionally repaired to a very high standard.  The front and rear bumpers were replaced with genuine Porsche parts along with the drive side radiator and front air duct.  This 997.2 rides on factory Carrera S II wheels which have been painted black and dressed in Bridgestone Potenza tires.  These wheels have also been equipped with spacers to provide for a wider stance.

Inside, you will find an all-original Sand Beige standard leather interior with power operated Comfort Seats.  The cabin is stated to be in fantastic shape with all gauges and accessories remaining fully functional.  This Carrera S has been optioned with the following exclusive features:

  • Self-Dimming Mirrors
  • Heated Front Seats
  • Heated Steering Wheel
  • Bluetooth Phone Interface
  • Sport Chrono Package Plus
  • Bose High End Sound Package
  • XM Radio
  • Floor Mats in Interior Color
  • Universal Audio Interface
  • Power Comfort Seats w/Driver Memory

Revised for the second phase of production, this 997.2 carries an updated 3.8 L flat-six engine featuring direct fuel injection.  This naturally aspirated power plant offers improved performance while resisting IMS bearing related issues.  385 HP is sent to the rear wheels by way of a lightning quick 7-speed PDK transmission allowing for a 0-60 time of approximately 4.3 seconds.  This Carrera S has been equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package Plus which enables the driver to optimize performance characteristics with the press of a button.  The Carfax report shows consistent maintenance and the seller notes that a third radiator was installed under their ownership.  This 997.2 is said to be in excellent running order with a fluid and filter change carried out within the last 500 miles.

The salvage title accompanying this vehicle regards some damage to the front end.  There was no airbag deployment, and any resulting damage is said to have been professionally repaired.

The sale of this 997.2 will include one key, owner’s books, service records and a branded title.  For any enthusiast in search of a tastefully configured 997, this Porsche Racing Green Metallic Carrera S makes an excellent choice.

@jaynar no airbags deployed. Everything on car works as it should from factory. As well as the AC

  • r3drov3r (registered bidder) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@Georgeyd Then you have lived in NY State. An inspection is required and for a car of this age it will be a full inspection.

All I'm saying is, any bidder should be sure to bid with knowledge as it relates to their own state and circumstances, especially for a salvage title. Every state will have nuances.

This car looks to be in good condition so I would be surprised at it being a problem, but if you don't know you local requirements you could be surprised. Bid with knowledge.

  • jaynar (registered bidder) 4 years, 4 monthsago

AC work? Airbags deployed in accident?

  • Georgeyd (seller) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@r3drov3r I’ve had many salvage cars. The vin verification along with smog (CA ONLY) and brake lamp inspection is all we need. California is most strict

  • jdoc1949 (registered bidder) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@Georgeyd I provided my insurance company the VIN and the car has been inspected so that you get plates and has a branded title they tell me they will only insure the car it for 70% of the value, even when you pay full payment. They say that it something they have implemented in last year. I guess they presume that you pay less for a salvage car

  • r3drov3r (registered bidder) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@Georgeyd It's more than just verifying the VIN. That has to be done on any vehicle. The inspection has to verify the vehicle meets operational standards. You can review salvage title requirements via most state's motor vehicle department web site.

  • Georgeyd (seller) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@jdoc1949 different agencies do different rates. If the dealership charges 2500 for bumper, 600 for each fog light, grills radiators and nuts and bolts, fender liners. They do an estimate and if insurance company chooses to they can salvage the car.

  • mid6flite (registered bidder) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@jdoc1949 Thats not big deal and at this price your'e less than half the value anyway.

  • Georgeyd (seller) 4 years, 4 monthsago

    @r3drov3r yes that’s correct. It’s called a vin verification.

  • r3drov3r (registered bidder) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@jdoc1949 In New York as long as your vehicle is branded as salvage, you cannot legally operate it on a New York road, nor can you have it insured for operation. To make your vehicle legal to operate you must have it inspected by the DMV.

  • jdoc1949 (registered bidder) 4 years, 4 monthsago

Just found out Insurance companies in Mo will only insure a "salvage title car" to 70% of value is that the same in all states

  • Georgeyd (seller) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@r3drov3r No lean, no other nuances.
I have the title that will be signed over to the new owner along with a bill of sale. You take that paperwork, walk into the dmv in any state you are in, and have a new title made to your name.

  • Georgeyd (seller) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@r3drov3r A dealer is involved becasue only they can purchase the car from the insurance who took the car after the accident. They have it inspected and sold. The public is not able to bid and buy from these insurance auctions, only a licensed dealers who then sells the car to me. The process goes like this: I find a car that I would like to buy, I call the dealer who Ive worked with before, and ask them to buy this car for me, they then have all the paperwork prepared and make a sale to me; just like any dealership you walk into.

  • r3drov3r (registered bidder) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@Georgeyd So there is a California salvage title for this car. Is it a clear title or is there a lean on it? I'm not clear on why the dealership in Idaho would be involved unless they have a lean.

  • Georgeyd (seller) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@jdoc1949 I bought the car damaged through them. Insurances only sell to licensed dealers.
Repaired it in California and it holds a salvage California title. I just spoke to the dealer, they said what the DMV requires for us to transfer ownership is the title and bill of sale which was provided to me when I purchased from them. I have this paperwork on hand.

  • jdoc1949 (registered bidder) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@Georgeyd 1.So basically its in your wifes name and is an Idaho title if I understand it .
2.Did you buy the car damaged and have it repaired.
    3. Or did the dealer in Idaho repair the car and you purchased it repaired.
    4. If they are doing title transactions are they charging for this??
Thanks again just trying to get clarification

  • Georgeyd (seller) 4 years, 4 monthsago

    @jdoc1949 California salvage title
My wife’s name as owner. Dealership who I purchased this car through says it is not a problem to change ownership. The dealer is from Idaho and if done through there you can avoid the CHP inspections. But either way all records are present for such inspection

    Can the owner please verify.
    Tilte is California.
Title has his name on the front
    Title has salvage/rebuilt on it

  • HowS (registered bidder) 4 years, 4 monthsago

Also, if you went to the Porsche Track Experience down in Alabama they had another dozen or so identical ones there too.

  • HowS (registered bidder) 4 years, 4 monthsago

This was a Launch Car. Every single Porsche dealer in the US got at least one from the factory. Many many got more than one. Some of the larger dealers received 4 or 5. All of the launch cars were identical in the Porsche racing green, with beige interior. All of them had the same set of options.

@jdoc1949 the title is in ready for new ownership, I will sign it over with all the paperwork the DMV requires for ownership transfer. It is a very simple process. The brakes have been replaced in my ownership.

  • Baldnurse66 (registered bidder) 4 years, 4 monthsago

  • jdoc1949 (registered bidder) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@jdoc1949 -The car shows 4 owners are you the 5th ?
-Did you buy it damaged and have it repaired
-Is the car titled in your name and is it stamped salvage
-Not seeing anywhere on service records that brakes have been replaced, what condition are the brakes .

@jdoc1949 Also did you buy it damaged and have it repaired? Do you have any more photos of car once it was stripped down before rebuild. Thanks John

  • jdoc1949 (registered bidder) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@Georgeyd hello a couple more questions
Is the car titled in your name and is it stamped salvage
Not seeing anywhere on service records that brakes have been replaced, what condition are the brakes .

  • Georgeyd (seller) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@Amc88 yes it passes smog and vin verification. Rebuilt title normally means that you took 2 cars and made one. That is not the case here. Simply replaced a couple body parts.

  • Amc88 (registered bidder) 4 years, 4 monthsago

Hi, hope all is well and happy 4th! Will the car pass inspection? If so, I’m curious as to why you haven’t gotten a rebuilt title. Do you have the #’s for all the parts you replaced? Thanks much appreciated!

  • Georgeyd (seller) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@jdoc1949 sorry I meant to say NOT damaged when referring to the headlights. Headlights are not damaged, scratched or broken.
I bought it about 4 months ago, and put approximately 2 thousand miles on it since.

  • jdoc1949 (registered bidder) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@Georgeyd Thanks for the honest response , how long have you driven the car since rebuild and why are you selling?

  • Georgeyd (seller) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@jdoc1949 the hood and fenders were not damaged. There were yellow marks from insurance adjuster but do not know why they were made. No damage, no dents or paint chips in the fenders. Hood is also fine and untouched. The hood latch was replaced because it was cut by adjuster. Again original parts used. Hood has a couple paint imperfections on the inside and on the leading edge. Seems to me like it is just normal wear from regular use.
Frame tubes were 100%. No problems when bolting new radiator supports and replacing bumper. No gaps on panels.
Yes, frame that holds the radiator was twisted. That was replaced, bolted straight to body with zero modifications. OEM radiators installed, along with CENTER radiator upgrade.
Along with bumper I replaced the headlight washers, grills and day time running lights/turn signals.
    OEM headlights. Original, I damaged.
Only parts on car repainted were front and rear bumpers. Front because an original new was bought, rear because clear coat was not 100% to me.
Also 2 stage full paint correction and protective layer. Not clear bra
New tires are dated 2019 on side walls. Very good condition. Like new.
    Alignment report also available.
Undercarriage looks very good, besides the front bumper lip being scrapped.
I can upload pictures underneath as well. Will do so Monday

  • Georgeyd (seller) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@964NN YES. It does have the PSE (Porsche sport exhaust)

  • Georgeyd (seller) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@964NN all 100% original suspension. Zero modifications

  • 964NN (registered bidder) 4 years, 4 monthsago

Does it have PSE? Saw the button and wasn’t sure.
    Is the suspension original?
    Many thanks.

  • jdoc1949 (registered bidder) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@Georgeyd I have a few questions re the damage and what was repaired and will list them, I have rebuilt a few salvage cars, just finished a 2016 Macan S so I understand the process.
    1. I noticed damaged to drivers fender?
    2. Was there damage to the hood?
3 Was there damage to the front of the tube where their hood latch is.
    4. Any damage to the tube as they are aluminum.
    5. Did you have to pull the subframe at the front
    6. Did you replace the frames that hold the radiator?
7.What other parts were replaced at the front.
    8. Why was rear bumper replaced and was there any other damage to the body?
    9. Did you fit new headlights
10.What body panels were repainted, it looks like they did a good job from photos.
    11. How long ago were new tires fitted.
    12. Do you have an alignment report since rebuild.
    13. Lower front under a panel on bumper has been scraped, any other damage
    14. Do you have photos of the under belly and also under engine
Sorry to ask so many questions, but not being able to see car in person makes me think.
    harder.
Since re build how many miles have you driven car and why sell it?

  • Georgeyd (seller) 4 years, 4 monthsago
