Representing the fifth generation of the Mercedes Benz SL-Class roadster, the R230 was released in 2001 and saw the introduction of the high-performance SL63 AMG version in 2008, equipped with a hand-built naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 producing over 500 HP. This 2009 example was ordered in Black over a Black/Anthracite leather interior and was optioned with the AMG Performance Package and Premium Package 1. It was delivered new in Colorado and first registered in Kansas, where it remained until the seller’s acquisition in February of 2022. Showing just under 57k miles on the odometer, this SL63 AMG is now being offered at auction by its seller out of Missouri.
This SL is finished in Black (040U) with a matching retractable hardtop. Details include an AMG–specific front fascia, side skirts, trunk lid spoiler, and finned rear diffuser as well as a panoramic glass roof panel, silver fender vents, bi-xenon headlights with active corner illumination, fog lights, a vented hood, silver brake calipers with black AMG script, and quad exhaust tips. The LED taillights have been tinted on the clear section, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. A set of 19" AMG twin 5-spoke forged light alloy wheels are included with the AMG Performance Package and come mounted with Continental ExtremeContact tires.
The cabin is trimmed in Black/Anthracite leather with 12-way multicontour active front seats including heating, ventilation, AMG badges in the backrests, and the Airscarf neck warming system. Burl Walnut veneers span the dashboard, center console, and door panels while Designo Anthracite Alcantara lines the roof. Amenities include an AMG Performance multifunction steering wheel, drilled aluminum pedals, AMG floormats, full power accessories, dual-zone climate control, Keyless Go keyless entry, an electronic trunk closer, a 10-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, a COMAND infotainment screen with navigation, and AMG-branded door sill guards.
The SL63 AMG is equipped with a 6.2-liter M156 V8 rated at 518 HP and 465 lb.-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 7-speed 7G-Tronic dual-clutch transmission and electronic limited-slip differential, allowing acceleration from 0-60 MPH in approximately 4 seconds with a top speed of 186 MPH enabled by the AMG Performance Package. This optional package also equips a sport-tuned Active Body Control (ABC) suspension system, the AMG compound braking system, and an AMG sport exhaust. I bought this car, model year 2012, a couple of months ago. It is a lot of fun, and a very comfortable ride. One issue with pre-2011 models is potential head bolt failure. If they have not been replaced, might want to budget for it.

Tires have recently been replaced and have less than 500 miles.
