Constructed by Trailex Aluminum Trailers, the 2008 Trailex CTE-84180T is an 18-foot aluminum enclosed car trailer designed for enhanced durability and effortless towing. Its fully enclosed construction includes recessed tunnels that house ramps for easy loading and unloading, and the aerodynamic profile reduces drag, improving fuel efficiency. It is equipped with an upgraded 10,000-lb. suspension, D-load rated tires, and 3,500-lb. axles, which were replaced in 2014. The tandem axle setup provides stable handling and safe transport, while the 67-inch roof allows extra clearance for taller vehicles. This one-owner, well-maintained trailer has been stored indoors since new and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Georgia.
The exterior is finished in white powder-coated aluminum panels, complemented by a few decals. “Wind Fins” are installed along the sides and roof to reduce wind resistance, improving towing efficiency by approximately 5%. For enhanced visibility, the trailer is equipped with two additional stop/turn/brake lights and extra wiring protection beneath the fenders. The seller notes cosmetic imperfections, such as a wrinkle in the side door opening and a dimple in the front “V” wall from a close encounter with the tow vehicle. There are also a few scratches from tire blowouts and minor abrasions from branches, but these do not impact its functionality. All exterior lighting, including backup lamps, is fully operational. It rides on an upgraded Trailex 10,000-lb. suspension system to accommodate its D-rated TowMax tires that were mounted less than two years ago. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The 67-inch-tall interior boasts a durable, extruded aluminum floor and metal ribs placed every 16 inches, providing ample support for mounting custom cabinetry or storage bins. It has been outfitted with a modern, upgraded tire rack that allows tires to be stored along the entire length of the rack, a feature added in 2023 at a cost of $900. This design eliminates the previous model’s limitation of only storing tires at the ends. The trailer also includes two newly mounted spares on aluminum rims, two spare tire mounts, and a tire rack with an updated design to securely store tires throughout the length of the rack. Two adjustable stop bars are included for easy vehicle placement during loading and unloading. The interior lighting system includes 12V incandescent lights powered by the tow vehicle battery and a 110V AC light string installed throughout the ceiling, providing more visibility for night-time loading and unloading. The AC-powered lights can be run on a small portable generator (not included) if no power hookup is available. The trailer also features upgraded forward tow mounts on the floor, positioned to prevent damage to the car’s chin spoiler or paint during transport.
This sale will include a ramp door lock, a 110-volt light string, and service record documents.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. This trailer has been well cared for and maintained since purchased new. 1 owner. Always stored indoors. Cleaned regularly. Used frequently in spring up to summer and then fall until December each year. All tires have been replaced within the last 2 years on the ground and the mounted spares. 2 new unmounted spares are included in the sale. Am willing to help deliver within a 250 mile radius of current location for a fee (.70 per mile each direction). Can meet halfway if over that 250 mile limit but no more than 250 unless other arrangements can be made (food, lodging in addition to mileage rate.)”

@Upshift4 To be clear...you mean VMR in Jasper Georgia correct?
@Upshift4 YES I do and it is only about 20 miles from my home so yes I could deliver there if you have the winning bid
Do you know VMR in Jasper? could you deliver it there?
@Upshift4 great question...they are the same as if you were purchasing a car...5% I asked that question of the powers that be before listing the trailer and was told verbally by one of the web site representatives this information
what are the site fees for a trailer?

@sdavis Great question. No there is no rear weight bias. I never had an issue towing. No sway whatsoever. I usually carried 1 set of tires and wheels in the tire rack, three 5 Gal jugs of fuel mounted amid ships in the trailer, a compressor and 50 foot hose reel mounted toward the rear of the trailer and a floor jack in a 1/4 inch thick ++aluminum jack trunk mounted in the rear of the trailer. The car was positioned so I could open the hood to access the battery if need be while the car was in the trailer. the rear of the car was only 2-3 inches forward of the rear opening so it was right at the back of the trailer.
From the comments, it appears you trailer a GT3 with the trailer. I have a GT4 and a 911 that I need to trailer. I believe a GT3 is about 15' long so you likely have about 9" in front and back when loaded. Is this correct? With the rear engine GT3, is there too much rear weight bias?
Bid in the amount of $6,000
@ACaddict I just verified that inside measurement of the "box"" from the tail end of the trailer(rear door open) to the corner where the "V" starts is 16 feet 8.5 inches. The total length of the trailer overall is 22 feet 2 inches. this discrepancy may be in part to the fact that Trailex had "tweaked" their design over the years and the fact that this is advertised as an 18 foot trailer plus the nose. They know what qualifies as an 18 foot trailer and I do not. I went by what their classification was one their web site by their code for this model which indicates it is an 18 foot trailer.
@Painlss85 do you have access to verify the measurement of inside Length of bed at outside corners is 18’? The link you provided for 18’ trailer shows “Length of bed at corners 16' 4” + nose"”
Thank you!

@donandsandee Yes I do have a couple of very short race ramps to keep the chain spoiler from rubbing on the ramps before the front wheels engage the ramps. They might be 18 inches long
@Upshift4 read below your question on the comments section
thanks for the info on securing the car. Can you load the GT 3 with just the ramps that come with the trailer ?
You all may be wondering why I have this trailer for sale. I bought a new one! I purchased the HD Trailex trailer and had it custom fitted to my specifications after using this one for 16 years I found there were things I wanted that I did not have and also helped them design some new options which they will offer to new customers. Plus I wanted more room and now I have it. This trailer is as good as it gets for loading and unloading a car without using a winch. It is the whole reason I originally purchased this trailer so I would not have to crawl out the driver side window when getting out of the car after loading or into the side window of the car before unloading. If you look at the Trailex.com website This trailer today retails for $30,299 WITHOUT any options. Add alloy wheels, TWO alloy spares and TWO spare tire mounts, plus tire rack plus 6 inches taller for more headroom when standing inside the trailer and now the trailer retails for $33,516 before tax and registration in your state. The two spare tires are new and never been used on the ground as well as two new never mounted spares which I purchased just prior to deciding to purchase a new trailer. Good luck with your bidding and thank you for visiting this auction.
Look at the photo gallery of the blue BMW with the LUVMYBMW tag on it. I have tie down hooks mounted to the undercarriage of each car I tow so the rear ratchet straps connect directly to them and I cross them to opposite side D rings and tighten them. In the front I have Axle straps that I loop through and back out the spokes of the front wheels and then attach those to the ratchet straps and then connect those to the permanent hooks bolts to the floor of the trailer int he outer position to prevent warping, chipping, tearing the paint and/or chin spoiler
Are you able to load the GT 3 with just the ramps that come with the trailer ?
How do you secure the Gt 3 in the trailer ? I have a 2014 GT 3 that I transport on a Futura open trailer and I run straps through the wheels and secure with rachet straps
@sroth004 with the trailer as level as I can detect the lowest edge of the tongue (where the ball enters) is 20.5 inches from the surface of the concrete the trailer is resting on and the top of the tongue (what rests on the ball after hitching the trailer to your tow vehicle) is 22.75 inches from the concrete surface
Thank you for the descriptions, dimensions and additional photos with your two cars. Do you know the height of the tongue (hitch mount) with trailer level? Thanks

now i see the explanation...
so is that a big crease/dent in the side door or is it just a light/shadow?

@Barrman The total weight of the trailer empty is 2,000 lbs. The total length of the trailer is roughly 22 feet from the tongue to the rear edge of the trailer(perhaps a few inches more possibly). The interior width of the trailer is 92 inches, and the width between the fenders is 80.5 inches
2) the wrinkle on the side door of the trailer. This occurred because I mistakenly began to pull out of my shop with the side door open and I hadn’t checked to make sure it was closed. (quite the Senior moment) I slowly hit the side door on the opening frame of the shop and slid the door back on its hinge and bent the door molding which caused the wrinkle in the side door skin. One of the gas shocks also bent on the shaft. All the damaged pieces of the molding were removed and new pieces were purchased from Trailex and riveted in place along with the seal on the door. At that time all the gas shocks on both doors that open in an upward direction were replaced as well to keep them in good working order. This occurred Approximately 2-3 years ago. There is no issue with the door seal leaking or the door closing as it should. It is not bent or warped. Only the outer skin is wrinkled.
It has come to my attention that some of the information in the listing is a bit ambiguous so I thought I would expand on that. 1) The suspension upgrade… When I purchased the trailer I needed to haul a load very close to GVW of the trailer which is 7,000 lbs. After several years the axles began to bow downward which caused excessive wear on the axle bearings and caused them to be replaced repeatedly. I then investigated heavier duty 3500 axles (larger diameter tubes) from a local trailer maker/repair shop. At the same time Trailex had begun to manufacture their HD trailer with a GVW of 10,000 lbs. I purchased their 10K lb. suspension (leaf springs also) from them and had that installed at the same time as I had the HD 3500 axles installed. This allowed me to used “D” rated tires rather than the “C” rated tires that came with the trailer. The total load capability of the tires was near 9,000 lbs. so that gave me insurance as to the load I could carry, even though it was well below the max load rating of the tires. These are the axles and suspension that are on the trailer now.
What is the trailer weight empty? What is total length from hitch to back? Width between wheel wells.
Thanks

@Porshafile both axles have brakes. Not sure what you mean by axle service but if you are asking about brakes…they were brand new when axles were replaced in 2014. Most towing has been highway either short or long distance so brakes have been used sparingly. Not much stop and go driving. Axle bearings have been greased religiously twice a year since new axles were installed to current time. Hope that helps.
@Wakegolf yes
Just to clarify. Is it 18 feet long plus the v nose? Thanks
Do both axles have brakes? And when last serviced? And last axle service? Thanks
@Jonnybravo I have uploaded several new photos of the two cars I use for track purposes. Both easily load and are transported once they are secured with ratchet strap tie downs made for heavy loads. Please go to the end of the gallery to view. thanks

@Jonnybravo All I can tell you is my E36 had a very high and wide wing on the back and it fit very nicely. No problem If you have a track car or a street car, the E36 will fit. Trust me. It will fit
@Painlss85 Unfortunately PCar doesn’t allow us to share phone numbers or emails
@Jonnybravo I’m not. Email address or contact number please
@Painlss85 I’m not sure you’re on Instagram but if you are, I’m J0n.win on there
Copy. Thank you!
@TPW ok… I have just verified the exact height of the trailer At the wheels it is 89 inches, at the rear it is 90 inches and at the front it is 88 inches from the floor. This discrepancy is most likely due to the fact that in the shop I have the front lower than level because of some other reasons which don’t affect anything. So if LEVEL front to back the height of the trailer empty is 89 inches. If you need pics let me know and I’m happy to send them. Should fit into your enclosure with room to spare at the top
Pcar wants all comms to remain on here.... but yes. Thank you!
@TPW give me some time to do this. Out and about with visit g family I will get that to you. If you need a picture verification could you please give me an email address or contact number to send the picture(s) to? Thank you
@Herm911 yes the ramps are long enough. 11 feet long. And yes they are absolutely included in the sale
Would you please 100% verify the exact 93" height. My garage opening is 93 1/4" exactly..... very tight
Are the ramps long enough for you to load your GT3 into the trailer (given ground clearance)and those would be included in the sale? Thank you
I do but I need to find them. Where can I send them because I don’t want to post them on the auction site
Do you happen to have any pictures of your e36 loaded in there? I’m interested in getting it to trailer my e36.
Bid in the amount of $2,000
@2Southwood I have 2 cars...2007 Porsche GT3 and 1998 BMW M3 Not sure if the Range Rover would fit because the height of the car may exceed the height of the inside of the trailer.. Ferrari for sure, Corvette for sure. basically any low ground clearance vehicle will fit unless it is exceptionally long and any "normal" sedan or 2 door coupe
@1974Bronco correct. new axles have electric brakes on both axles
@Upshift4 I have 2 cars...2007 Porsche GT3 and 1998 BMW M3
What size cars typically have been moved in the trailer? Porsche, Ferrari, will a Ranger Rover fit easily?
Just to confirm new axles have electric brakes installed
i worded my question poorly... what car did you put in the trailer?
i think my V8 Grand Cherokee with tow pkg can pull it ok.
Bid in the amount of $1,111
what kind of cars would fit inside?
@Painlss85 Thanks for clarifying that. I was actually referring to the height of the garage door opening. But you're correct on the width needed. The space up looking at is a double wide garage door so I haven't even thought about the width opening very much. Good luck with the auction I'll be following
@Upshift4 initially I had a 2006 GMC Envoy 6 cylinder vehicle. Then I went to a Ford Excursion 6.0 L Diesel, and in 2011 I purchased a Ford F-250 Super Duty 6.7 L diesel which I still have
Curious, what type of vehicle did you tow with this trailer?
@Ksdaoski you will need a 10 foot wide opening to back the trailer into. The fenders add several inches to each exterior side and when backing into a 10 foot opening (Which I used to do frequently) you will have less than 6 inches to spare on each side of the trailer. It's tight but can be done easily with practice. I would not recommend anything less than 10 feet
@Ksdaoski The rear door of the trailer is I believe is 93 inches wide, the interior wall to wall distance is 94 inches and the distance between the fenders is 80 inches
Thanks! So 8' garage opening required. And 22'. Thanks
@Ksdaoski the dry weight of the trailer is 2000 lbs. The max load of the trailer is 5000 lbs in addition to the weight of the trailer for a total GVW of 7000 pounds
@Ksdaoski The overall length is 22 feet stem to stern. This is sold as an 18 foot trailer, but the V and tongue add an additional 4 feet. the overall height of the trailer from the ground to the roof line is 93 inches. The opening for the car door from the floor of the trailer is 8.5 inches
Actually all exterior measurements would be greatly appreciated thank you
Hello very nice trailer and upgrades. Can you tell me what the overall length is from the tongue to the bumper? I guess it doesn't have a bumper but you know what I mean! And you know what the weight is? Thank you
