One of only 413 examples delivered to the United States and just 18 to have come finished in RS Green, this 2008 Porsche 997 GT3 RS was ordered with optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes and a black full leather interior with deviated stitching, painted accents, and carbon-fiber trim.  Said to have commanded the highest original MSRP of any 997 GT3 RS produced, this rare 2008 example shows just over 17k miles on the odometer and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Alabama.

The RS features wider bodywork than the standard GT3 along with contrasting graphics on the sides and a larger adjustable carbon-fiber rear wing. This 997 comes finished in RS Green with optional painted rocker panels, deviated side mirrors, and Bi-Xenon headlamps. The black-painted 19” GT3 wheels feature green RS-logo center caps and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. The seller describes the car to be in excellent overall condition with no evidence of track use or excessive wear, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, black full leather and Alcantara upholstery is complemented by optional carbon fiber trim, deviated green stitching, and exclusive painted accents throughout. Optional extended leather trim covers the rearview mirror, sill finishers, and gear lever.  Other optional equipment includes a footrest in aluminum, illuminated door sill guards in carbon fiber, PCM Package painted Black, and a Chrono Package stopwatch mounted atop the dashboard. A complete list of factory specifications can be found in the gallery.

The naturally aspirated 3.6L flat-six Mezger engine features dry-sump lubrication, titanium connecting rods, a two-stage resonant induction system, and VarioCam variable valve timing. A 6-speed manual transmission much as 415 HP and 300 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a locking rear differential.  Optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) are equipped while standard performance features include Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), a multi-link LSA rear suspension, vented and cross-drilled brake rotors, variable-ratio power-assisted steering, and traction control with ABD, ASR, and MSR.  An invoice from Porsche of Huntsville shows service completed in October of 2021 as well as a DME report which is provided by the seller.

This sale will include a clean title, the original window sticker, one key, a Porsche keychain, and a recent service/DME record.

@tracing It's one of the extensive list of "Exclusive Options" on this highly optioned example; see the Factory Window Sticker in the image gallery.

  • ehd911 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Nizer Thank you. We have not had this low probability engine-out mod done; it's generally a concern on examples that are tracked, or if there are signs of coolant leakage, or 4x higher mileage examples, or as part of other engine-out work.

  • tracing 2 years, 5 monthsago

@ehd911 Why are sides of wing green and not black?

  • Nizer 2 years, 5 monthsago

In between the R S the black section loops up & splits. This one is straight

  • OnlyOnePorsche (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

It appears the graphic are not factory. The factory lettering is slightly different and maybe someone can post a picture to show the difference.

  • Nonissan (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@ehd911 wow... those words seem to indicate this is going to be out of my range. glad i got to bid though...

  • ehd911 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Nonissan The front bumper black sticker strips have been removed or were not re-installed by the prior owner. The side stickers could be construed to be slightly higher than normally witnessed. However, the stickers are unchanged under our ownership. Many 997 RS's had PPF installed that aged, became opaque and needed to be removed; since this RS is in such excellent/mint condition, it's likely that it had PPF and the stickers were damaged during the PPF removal and re-installed per the direction & personal preference of the previous owner, prior to our acquisition at Mecum in Monterey 2016, where it was represented and sold as a top of class example (and held the highest public sales comp until sales in the past 6-months that have exceeded it's 2016 record sale).

  • ehd911 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@slimeynutsuck997 Correct, they are securing the mesh guard.

  • Nonissan (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@ehd911 - can you please comment on switchcars statement about the graphics being moved and incomplete?

this is such an amazing car. it would be a shame for somebody besides me to buy it!

Why are there 4 screws drilled into the front bumper? Is that for the mesh guard that was added or something else?

As requested, I've uploaded 62 undercarriage, bumper & rocker panel area photos to Pcar Admin; should be in the media gallery soon. Note that the RS has not been detailed, paint-corrected, dry-iced or cleaned on it's underside; it's shown as it's been living in our Porsche collection facility, not embellished in any way.

  • switchcars (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@ACSATCO hahaha truer words have never been spoken.

    Upcharge Orange and Expensive Green.

  • ACSATCO (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@switchcars i actually heard on the 997.1 RS the color is called "Expensive Green" ;)

  • switchcars (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Racerrs Nope, it's "Green" - that's the official color. Signal Green and Viper Green are different vintage shades that have both appeared more recently as PTS colors on 997s and 991s, and people commonly refer to the 997.1 as either Signal or Viper but it is neither.

  • Racerrs (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

I believe the color is called Signal Green!

  • switchcars (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@ehd911 FYI it's one of 114 2008 US RS, 21 of those in Green (27 in 2007). Info courtesy of GTvault; build sheets and VINs on file for every single one.

  • ehd911 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@ACSATCO I'll get the RS "up in the air" and upload the requested undercarriage photos ASAP.

  • ehd911 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@GrahamRahalPerformance I've witnessed no rock chips or rash anywhere on the RS and did my best to show it's beyond excellent condition.

  • ehd911 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

    @justin The color is GT/RS Green, Color Code: 2D8. It's 1 of 93 2008 GT3 RS's delivered to the United States. It's 1 of 18 2008 GT3 RS's delivered to the United States in GT/RS Green.

  • switchcars (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

    FYI @pcarmarket -
This is simply "Green", not Viper Green. Common misnomer but Viper Green was not a color on the 997 RS. It is also one of 48 delivered to the United States, not 18.
Additionally, I'm not sure who said it's the highest MSRP, but it is the 4th highest MSRP 997.1 RS in the US.

FYI for buyers, be advised that the graphics at some point have been removed/reinstalled. Note that they are missing the piece on the front bumper, and the alignment/positioning of the graphics on the doors and rear bumper are not correct.

One interesting fact on this car is that the green wing end plates are factory deviating - typically they would be black. It is the only green one like this.

pictures of the engine from under the car would be helpful please

  • GrahamRahalPerformance (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@seller if no PPF applied, how is Rock chipping on front bumper, hood, fenders etc? Very interested. Thanks

  • justin (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

PCAR is incorrect. The color is Green or RS Green not Viper. Also there were about 50 delivered in Green to the US for 07 and 08.

  • ehd911 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@SofiaLeo No accidents or paint work. It does not have PPF installed.

  • SofiaLeo (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@seller has this car ever been in any accidents or had any type of paint work? Does it have any type of PPF film protection? Thank you
