Commemorating Porsche’s legendary mid-engine race car, the 987 Boxster S RS 60 Spyder Edition was produced in a limited series of 1,960 examples worldwide, of which approximately 800 were delivered in the United States. It comes finished in a combination of GT Silver Metallic over Carrera Red Natural Leather and features 19” SportDesign wheels, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), the Sport Exhaust System, and unique styling cues. This example, Nr. 0984/1960, is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission as well as optional heated front seats, automatic climate control, Bose Surround Sound System, a logo-embossed storage compartment, and the Sport Chrono Package. Showing less than 41k miles on the odometer, this rare RS 60 Spyder Edition is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Missouri.

The traditional GT Silver Metallic finish on this special edition is complemented by a unique black windscreen frame, red taillight lenses, SportDesign front fascia, and 19” SportDesign wheels. The car rides on a set of Bridgestone Potenza tires from 2019 and the exterior is described by the seller to be in great overall condition. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is trimmed in Carrera Red Natural Leather upholstery and includes a special exposed instrument cluster, seatbelts in silver, a painted center console, and stainless-steel door sills with RS 60 Spyder logos. Optional equipment includes a storage compartment lid with an embossed model logo, heated front seats, a Porsche Windstop, automatic climate control, Bose Surround Sound System, and Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package.

The RS 60 Spyder Edition features a specially tuned Sport Exhaust System that increases the output of its 3.4-liter flat-six engine to 303 HP, compared to 295 HP for a standard Boxster S. The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission that allows acceleration from 0-60 MPH in approximately 5 seconds.  Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and wheel spacers are also equipped as standard on this special edition. The CARFAX report shows 11 maintenance history records including a major 60k-mile service by Porsche of Warwick in 2015 as well as the most recent service by Napleton Autowerks Missouri in August 2022.

This sale will include a clean title.

Took my 2011 turbo S cabriolet out for a run this morning. Then took my Boxster RS60 out to pick up some bbq for my wife and her girlfriend. The Turbo S is bigger, heavier, and much faster. The Boxster is lithe, nimble, and more pure fun. Can’t go wrong with either.

I have owned 25 Porsche cars since 1982 including a RS 60, 981 Boxster Spyder, and 981 GT4. Mistake when I sold my RS60 tip with red top. Great car especially for the $ and will hold value if treated properly. First 300+ HP mid engine Porsche and drives great for every purpose. I just bought Cobalt Blue 993 from this dealer and they are efficient and very pleasant to deal with.

@pstallone21 Thew were removed at some point during previous ownership. The emblems will be included with the sale.

  • pstallone21 2 years, 2 monthsago

Any reason it does not have the Boxster S emblem on the back? Other RS 60's I've seen have it.

@WRENCH.56 The previous owner was unable to obtain the records from the first ownership. The vehicle is in amazing condition and proves to be solid and serviced with no current issues whatsoever. As far as we can tell, the interior condition is fantastic and has never been wet. The Boxster is on consignment with us. Here is a link to our guarantee https://www.premiercars.com/our-guarantee .
We have been in business over 25 years and can help with transportation as we have 3 enclosed haulers and move cars all across the country.

@JackB - I couldn’t agree with you more. My Porsche history is similar to yours although it leans more toward water cooled. The only flaw I see with this one is the black top. Everyone knows the red tops are faster…

I’ve owned over a dozen Porsches since 1968, including two 2.7 RS Carreras (not clones) four 356 Speedsters, assorted other 356s and 911s and a 914/6. I only say that as a way of giving perspective to my comments on the Boxster RS60, one of which I currently own. It’s my first liquid cooled Porsche. It has virtually every option offered except Tip. As a fun/$ proposition it’s the best Porsche I’ve owned….and I daresay more fun/$ than any new Porsche you can buy. And I’m not paranoid about driving it, parking it, or leaving it unattended for awhile. It even makes me miss my /6 a little less. It proves that 303hp can be as much fun as 403hp if you know how to use it. I don’t care too much for the instrument faces and fonts, and frankly, to me, the center stack is kind of a mess, but that’s just me. Most people probably like it. This looks like a very good, well maintained example. I think this car would make any Porsche enthusiast happy.

Anyway, I though bidders might be interested in the opinions of an owner. I have no affiliation with the car or the seller.

@WRENCH.56 I am away from the office this afternoon but will answer all your questions in the morning.

  • WRENCH.56 (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

Truly a beautiful car that appears to be in great condition!
    A few questions:
    1. The Carfax report states that the vehicle was initially sold on 6/6/2008 with 33 miles on it. The first service was on 4-21-2015 at 8635 miles. So this car went 7 years with obviously a lot of time sitting around and not so much as an oil change. Is that your understanding as well? Gotta say that is not healthy for a car l don't get that kind of owner!
    2. It appears that the car was sporadically serviced and somewhat under-driven by the next few owners. I suspect that may have something to do with the massive service that the last owner admirably undertook very recently.
    3. To the best of your knowledge, has the car ever gotten wet inside?
    4. You are obviously a dealer. Are you selling it on behalf of the owner or are you the owner? This question is prompted by the $199 dealer fee. Is there a limited warranty with the dealership sale? Will you help facilitate an out of state sale?
    5. Not a question, but you have posted service orders for a Mercedes. You might want to take that down.
Again, this is a great Boxster. I sure hope it winds up in my garage!

@Dino356987 The cover for the car cover, got it. Thanks! According to the paperwork, it looks like a ton of work was done on the car last year. Does it need anything at this point?

  • Dino356987 (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

If it is the photo of the car cover on, that is the bag for the cover leaning on the vehicle.

  • BobInNY (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@Dino356987 The second from the last picture shows a covered item leaning against the car. What is that?
    Thanks.

  • Dino356987 (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@BobInNY Pic #62 is of the undercarriage, which picture exactly were you referring to ?

Convertible top is in great condition, no tears, etc... works flawlessly as well.

  • Dino356987 (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

    @Azguy238 Yokohama ADVAN Sport A/S+

  • BobInNY (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

What's the item leaning against the car in photo #62. Is that a hardtop? Also, how would you describe the condition of the convertible top.

  • Azguy238 (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@Dino356987....what brand tires were just installed?

  • WRENCH.56 (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

    Thanks for the clarification.
Despite the bad timing (my 2021 state and Fed taxes are due in two weeks) I’ll be bidding on this gem.

  • Dino356987 (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@WRENCH.56 This boxster has the M97 engine.

  • WRENCH.56 (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

Please pardon my ignorance, but did this 2008 car that began it’s production run in December 2007 have the M96 or M97 motor?

  • opener (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

I bought anRS60 about six years ago. I have owned around 15 Porsches over the past 52 years (911s, 928s, 914s, a 911 Turbo and a Cayman S) The RS60 is the most fun to drive. It does everything right. Good luck to the seller and lucky buyer!

  • patco2927 (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

I owned #487 a few years ago. One of my bigger car mistakes selling it. If I could sell my 2010 Boxster S, I'd be high bidder on this one. The RS Spyder is truly the most connected driving car I've owned. GLWS.

These cars are fantastic. I had one and sold it several years ago when I bought my 997.2 turbo S cab. Who needs 2 Porsche convertibles? Regretted the sale from day 1. Fortunately, I was able to buy it back a month ago. It does everything so well and the Carrera red interior is just stunning. I guess you can’t have too much of a good thing.

Great Boxster.... would really like to see a pic or two with the top up though. There's a little glimpse of one portion of it in pic #27 but do you have any showing the condition of the entire top?
