Finished in Meteor Grey Metallic over a Black and Stone Grey leather interior, this 2008 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S is equipped with a 3.8L flat-six delivering power to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. This 997 was first registered in New Jersey, and was optioned from the factory with the Sport Chrono Plus Package, heated Adaptive Sport Seats with painted backs and Porsche crested headrests, the Bose High End Sound Package, the Sport Exhaust System, 19” Carrera Classic wheels, and the Porsche Communication Management with navigation. Recent service includes a new clutch, water pump, lower oil pan gasket, spark plugs, ignition coils, and the replacement of the power steering reservoir. Now showing just 18k on the odometer, this 2008 Carrera 4S is being offered at auction by the seller based out of New Jersey.

The exterior is finished in Meteor Grey Metallic (M7W) and is equipped with xenon headlights with washers, painted rocker panels, self-dimming mirrors, red brake calipers with white Porsche script, clear side markers, and polished quad exhaust tips. The seller reports that paint protection film has been applied to the front bumper, side mirrors, rocker panels, fenders, and a portion of the hood. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. The original Carrera Classic wheels have been swapped with a set of 19” Carrera S “lobster claw” wheels finished in gloss black, and are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport tires displaying date codes from 2019.

The interior features heated Adaptive Sport Seats, which are upholstered in Stone Grey leather with Meteor Grey Metallic painted seatbacks and embossed Porsche crests in the headrests. The center console is also painted in Meteor Grey Metallic, while Black leather spans the dashboard and extends to the upper door panels. Amenities include automatic climate control, the Sport Chrono Package, a Porsche Communication Management head unit with navigation, the Bose High-End Sound Package, Carrera 4S-branded door sill guards, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Brand new black Porsche foor matts have been added over the grey carpeting. The seller notes that an additional set of all-season floor mats will be included in the sale.

The 997 Carrera 4S is powered by a 3.8L flat-six that was factory rated at 355 HP and 295 lb.-ft of torque. All four wheels are driven by a 6-speed manual transmission, allowing for acceleration from 0-60 MPH in 4.6 seconds with a top speed of 179 MPH. Recent service includes new spark plugs, ignition coils, and a new power steering reservoir. Under the current ownership, the clutch, flywheel, and driveshaft flex disc were replaced in April of 2021. In October of 2019, the IMS flange, camshaft sensor, oil pan gasket, and oil cooler were also replaced.

This sale will include a clean New Jersey title and owner’s manuals.

@MattJames Matt, the bearing was not replaced nor did it need to be. Please scroll down and see this questioned answered 2 days ago with a link to the IMS issue and how a 2008 does not have the issue of the earlier car. Here is the link I provided then. I hope this helps.

Was the IMS bearing sorted with a retrofit bearing?

@artichoke the original owner changed from the stock wheels to these wheels.

  • artichoke (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

    @Ambassador-Auto Thanks!

We the stock wheels refinished or replaced? I had an 06 C4S with those identical wheels in silver.

@artichoke no, he did not drive the car hard, the transmission is fine!

  • artichoke (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

So if the original owner was hard on the clutch, any damage to the transmission???

@stupendous My pleasure. Yeh, the early cars still had issues even though it was such a small percentage of them. This one should be good to go with everything done to it. Thanks.

  • stupendous (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@Ambassador-Auto Thanks for the response and appreciate the link. I know someone with a 997 S whose IMS went and he had an expensive repair bill, hence the question.

@bradnic unfortunately, they are not. The Lobster Claw was switched with its first owner.

  • bradnic (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

are the original classic wheels available with the car?

  • Ambassador-Auto (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@stupendous thanks for the question. Yes, those items were replaced.at the same time as the clutch. The bearing is a non issue on a 2008 997. Here is a link to an article regarding the models and what was/wasn’t affected. I hope this gives some clarity. https://rennlist.com/how-tos/a/porsche-997-why-the-ims-bearing-issue-is-overblown-383755

  • stupendous (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

So the IMS o-ring and flange were replaced but not the actual bearing?

@jsheldon48 CarFax makes tons of mistakes, but always good to have their data.

  • jsheldon48 (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@Ambassador-Auto Ahh, I see the date on it now, sorry. Thanks. Strange it's still branded 1 owner.

  • Ambassador-Auto (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@jsheldon48 the CARFAX is in the photo gallery from the beginning, photos 198 to 201. That is how PCar shows it. I hope that helps.

  • jsheldon48 (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

Posting the current Carfax would probably be advisable as lots popping in see a dated report showing 1 owner. Just my 2 cents.

  • Rlanning (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

Looks like there have been 3 owners according to Carfax.

@Ambassador-Auto @Ambassador-Auto After watching the drone video the car does appear to be meteor grey metallic. The still pictures maybe over exposed.

  • Ambassador-Auto (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@jsheldon48 So I am sure you saw the invoice that is picture 190 where the Tech says the clutch was burnt out with hotspots. I know that it did not go into the shop for a bad clutch, it went in for an oil leak. Clearly when the found the IMS Seal needing to be replaced, it made sense to do the clutch. With that said, I think the previous owner was not that great with a manual and it caused it to show some uneven wear. All in the end and for whatever reason, it was all replaced correctly by a very reputable shop, and it drives great. The DME report is in good shape, so we know it was not driven too hard in that regard. I hope that helps.

  • jsheldon48 (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

Nevermind. Just saw the last BaT for this car...

  • jsheldon48 (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

Nice 4S. Interested, but wondering if anyone can comment on the car needing a clutch at 18k miles. DME looks good.

@Rlanning Thanks for reaching out and you are correct, this is a 2-owner car. Unfortunately, I do not have the window sticker (wish I did, and would have included it), but have a Porsche Build sheet which is photo # 186 taht shows all the options, list price and when it was built. I cannot explain why CarFax has a discrepancy, but they often do. I sold this car in Early 2018 to the owner that I got it from currently. Prior to that, I purchased it from its original owner, which is how I know it is a 2-owner car. Regarding service records, they are in the photo gallery and are picture # 187-195 which show all the work that was done on the car int he last 4 years that is mentioned in the listing. I hope that helps with some clarification.

  • Rlanning (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

Please show the window sticker. It appears there have been several owners, not the one owner Carfax says. Please explain the discrepancy of ownership. Are there any records for maintenance and repair on the car? Carfax doesn’t show any work done on the car except for a key made. Thanks for the DME and the underside pics. Thanks, R

  • Ambassador-Auto (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@155MPH Sorry for the confusion, but this car is definitely Meteor Grey Metallic. In the photo gallery is a build sheet, picture 186, from Porsche that specifics Meteor Grey.

  • 155MPH (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

I am really confused about something here. This is listed as meteor grey metallic but it does not look at all like meteor grey metallic in the pictures. It looks more like slate grey metallic. This link is to Rennbow and a picture of a meteor grey metallic car. https://www.rennbow.org/porsche-colors/MeteorGreyMetallic. And this is to a pic of slate grey (not on a 911 though) https://www.rennbow.org/porsche-colors/SlateGreyMetallic

  • 155MPH (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@Ambassador-Auto Sorry, I missed it. Thank you. Looks good.

  • Ambassador-Auto (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@155MPH yes it is included in the photo gallery

  • 155MPH (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@Ambassador-Auto Will you be doing a DME report for this car?

  • 155MPH 2 years, 4 monthsago

  • 155MPH (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@Ambassador-Auto Let's see where the auction goes and then I'll let you know. It's a good drive for me from Ocean City.

  • Ambassador-Auto (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@155MPH If you would like to come and see the car, just let me know and we can work out a time.

  • 155MPH (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

I am in love (and in NJ). At the right price, this is mine!!!!! :) :) :)
