This 2008 Porsche 997 Turbo Coupe is finished in the Paint to Sample color of Light Blue Metallic and features a Cocoa Special Leather interior as well as optional Makassar wood trim, illuminated door sills, a painted rear center console, the Sport Chrono Package, a limited-slip differential, and a 6-speed manual transmission paired with its twin-turbocharged Mezger engine. The car has also been equipped with an aftermarket head unit, an upgraded IMS bearing, and a BBi Autosport hydraulic clutch slave cylinder conversion kit. It remains under the care of its original owner and benefits from an uncompromising service history as well as a recent pre-purchase inspection and DME report. This generously optioned 997 Turbo is now being offered for auction by its original owner out of Florida while showing approximately 118k miles on the odometer.
The owner custom-ordered this 997 in Light Blue Metallic (30T), a classic Paint to Sample color originally offered on the 1979 Porsche 911SC and 911 Turbo. The car was completely disassembled and refinished in its factory color with four layers of clearcoat in 2022 as detailed in the video below. The seller notes the hood, quarter panels, and windshield were replaced prior to painting, and the front end was covered in clear paint protection film followed by a full exterior ceramic coating. The windows have been tinted and the factory 19” 911 Turbo wheels are powder-coated black and dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport PS4 tires. The car also features premium quad exhaust tips and an upgraded rear spoiler actuator. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean one-owner CARFAX report.
The cabin features Cocoa Special Leather upholstery complemented by an optional Makassar wood switch panel and door finishers as well as a painted rear center console, illuminated door-sill guards in stainless steel, and a Porsche-crested storage compartment lid. Other options include heated Adaptive Sport Seats with Porsche-crested headrests, a Sport Shifter, and the Sport Chrono Package which adds a stopwatch lap timer to the center dashboard. The driver and passenger seats were recently reupholstered with new factory-matching leather and the seatbacks were professionally painted to match the exterior of the car. The original PCM infotainment system has also been replaced with a modern Kenwood head unit including Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth.
A twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine delivers up to 480 HP and 460 lb.-ft of torque to all four wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission and an optional limited-slip rear differential. The seller indicates all coolant lines have been replaced and upgraded, oil and filter changes have been completed every 6 months or 5k miles, and the fluids have been routinely flushed and replaced during his ownership. The following list of items were also replaced at the corresponding mileage intervals:
This sale will include the original window sticker, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, an air pump, a car cover, extensive service records, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for your interest in my auction! I am the original owner of this very special 997.1 Twin Turbo, 6-speed manual engineering marvel. I specifically requested the circa 1980 Porsche Light Blue Metallic (code 30T) color of my father's 911 SC; Porsche had not painted a 911 in this color in 26 years when I ordered it! The car's paint job was completely refreshed last year, with the entire car repainted the factory color, finishing in four coats of clear, PPF on all forward-facing surfaces, and everything ceramic coated. This car has been my daily driver for 15 years, it has been meticulously maintained (never tracked), and has zero issues (recent PPI).”

Okay, new plan - commute from work will not leave enough time to shoot and post by auction end. My wife will go drive and shoot a quick video and we will post.
Paint and seat restoration invoices have been posted.
I do apologize, and wish this request had come before today. I will head home from work and shoot a quick video and hope to post it prior to auction close. It will be close.
@ericthepilot When spending this kind of money I want to hear the car being driven at speeds, you can tell a lot by listening. Sight unseen although a beautiful car and very responsive and open seller always makes me nervous. I've owned 21 porsche in the last 10 years and like to hear them at speeds if possible.
@testfishy inside the vehicle please. thank you
Wow! Impressive sir! Good luck with the auction- Wish you all the best!
Wish I had this money lying around for this unique sample of a car.
Driving video or not it is sold to the next guy. Normal speeds ?? Autobahn ?? What kind of question is that. Bid on it !
Good times for the new owner !!
Bid in the amount of $70,250
I will try to post a driving video prior to auction close, but it will be near the end of the auction due to work commute.
Is the desire to show a video from inside the vehicle driving, or of the car driving past?

All four tires were replaced in the March 2021 timeframe. Please see the pictures at the bottom of the gallery that indicate the current condition of the tires from the PPI performed on 26 July; all tires are in great condition with even wear and plenty of tread remaining. I will search my receipts for the date and car mileage at replacement.
When we’re the tires last replaced? How much tread left on them?
The most recent maintenance and inspection/PPI services are now posted in the gallery as the last page in the CarFax report.
This is an immaculate car. What a beauty!
Quote from Total 911
It does -"While the engine still uses an intermediate shaft to drive the camshafts, the oil pumps are driven directly by the crank. What’s more, the GT1-derived block has a different oil gallery design that ensures the IMS bearing remains lubricated at all times."
I didn’t think the mezger had an ims bearing? I had an 09.

Cold Start video now posted.
I really appreciate your comments - thank you.
@testfishy - In my eyes, you are the exact owner Porsche intended for its vehicles! You spec'd a Porsche to your desired specs and drove this over 100k in miles and addressing anything and everything the car needs and then some.
Also, before presenting it for sale, you went and got the car completely addressed. I am one of the few in the minority that doesn't care about a repaint as long as their are no hidden stories which you've clearly addressed. Racking up 100k in Miles, the car is bound to grab road debris.
Best of luck to you in this auction! If I was not in the same boat as you in terms of clearing out cars, I'd be all over this one!
Bid in the amount of $42,000
Sorry for the delay on the cold start video. I uploaded it this morning to the Pcarmarket upload space and await it to be approved and posted.

Factory color is Porsche paint code 30T
They were replaced with OEM parts. Please see my post below explaining replacement of these parts and the full paint restoration to the original factor color.
@edgy4sure or was it just that they were re-painted?
Q: why were the hood, quarter panels, and windshield replaced?
Beautiful example - cocoa looks so much like umber brown, it's a great look
I can post a video of real-time spoiler function if desired.
My mistake — it is not in one of the videos; it is picture number 50!
It does. Please see my post below from yesterday for the details on the spoiler, and you can also see in one of the videos that it is down.
The wing is up in all the pics, never at rest. Does it function properly?
Cold start video will be uploaded shortly.

@testfishy thanks so much for addressing ahead of time all possible issues and questions. it shows how you took care of the car!
I apologize for the excessive posts; I'm trying to timely address all questions.
Luis, to answer your question on performance modifications. There are no performance modifications, as I consider the quad exhaust tips an aesthetic upgrade only. I did let my mechanic attempt a low (stage one-ish) tune a couple years ago, and I did not like it, and had him immediately flash the ECU back to stock. You can see the one ECU re-programming on the DME report under "Number of Programming Operations." Again, the car is stock - no tune.
Okay, coolant lines, another Achilles heel of the 997 turbo, and one I definitely dealt with. All coolant lines going to the engine were replaced with upgraded couplings that delete the poor choice of plastic attachment points; the coolant lines going to the turbos were replaced outright. None of the coolant lines were pinned, they were either replaced with the newer upgraded metal lines, or had the attachment points replaced - no more plastic. I have not had any coolant leaks since the upgrades - unfortunately that was not the case prior to the upgrades/replacements.
PPI and DME Report are now in gallery. I'll be preemptive with the PPI and address the DTC codes. Every one of those codes are set due to a communication error with the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) radio head unit, which does not exist anymore, as replaced it with a modern head unit (Bluetooth, wireless Apple Car Play, etc.). Yes, even the angle sensor calibration DTC codes (8034 and 8035) are a result of the PCM delete. Nothing abnormal is displayed (CEL, other), and these are just communication trouble codes (C-codes) that don't show up with a normal scan like P-codes do. All PASM, PTM, etc. functionality that relies on angle sensor readings work 100% normally - the ABS module is the unit that gets the angle sensor data and does all the work. Again, these codes are an artifact of the PCM delete.
The other two Achilles heels of the 997.1 turbo are coolant lines issue and the clutch slave cylinder grenading, which I also dealt with. All three of these issues are sleeping dragons and will, I believe, occur at some point on the turbo if not addressed.
Addressing KayaknFly's questions, yes, that is a 4" Rennkit eRAM spoiler kit that I had installed a couple months back. I grew tired of fighting the turbo's faulty spoiler actuation mechanism design, which is one of the three Achilles heels of the 997 turbo. After having the stock system rebuilt twice due to leaking actuation cylinders, I went with the Rennkit 4" electric system. No more hydraulic fluid to deal with, and no more issues. Plus, I like the extra 2 extension; it works seamlessly with the car's design functionality - automatic deployment at 75 mph, automatic retraction at 37 mph. You can also manually electrically extend/retract the spoiler to any height (0-4 inches) if you don't want full extension.
Documents will be uploaded momentarily.
I have the DME report in front of me - I'm still working to upload it and the PPI.
To answer why am I selling it, this is a struggle for sure. I love the car, but I need to downsize. Too many vehicles and not enough garage space. Depending on how this all goes, maybe I'll end up just getting a bigger place with more garage space!
@testfishy do you have a DME available?
Beautiful color! May I ask why sell it after all these years? Thank you.
If there is anything I hate about apple is the self correction. Can be to picky is my second stick position people please buy more iPhones and the new ar googles.
I have the plush leather on my 2003 turbo. I drove non stop from California home to Texas 1698 miles no issues at all. I also have an early 99 that I drove home 1300 miles non stop from Wisconsin the regular seats are comfortable for me in the 996s. I personally nanowire in the 21-23 gt3 I barely fit in the sport seats. Thanks.
@luis.seneriz The adaptive sport seats have been reported to be uncomfortable for some people.
I personally think they are comfortable, really hold me in place, but tight for seats, I’m 6’1” and 185 lbs.
try to find a car for sale near you at a dealer and see how they are for you.
Also in your comments you mentioned coolant pipes fixed, but the comment and the description of the car doesn’t say what was done…
Were they pinned or welded? Did you use bbi coolant tips, shark werks coolant elbows etc?
Any information on that would be worthwhile.
Thank you.
Ps, love the exterior color!
Are those the 4 inch e-rams?
What specific ims bearing was put in the car? I’ve never seen one for sale for the turbo engines, as it’s different from the other 996 and 997 IMS.
Bid in the amount of $31,997
Wow this is a gem. Kudos to the owner for driving it. Are there any performance modifications to the car? My 996 tt is triple black but I can definitely see me in this as blue is my favorite color. Anyway you could tell me how wide are those buckets I’m on the fat side 5 11 260 pounds. Thanks beautiful car
I just now uploaded the Pre-Purchase Inspection photos from last week. As soon as I can figure out how to upload the PPI and DME report I will do that also.....
Additional content has been added to the gallery for this listing.
Bid in the amount of $30,997
I will post the bearing manufacturer and specifics when my mechanic sends me the information.
Just got off the phone with my mechanic - the bearing was upgraded to a roller bearing. He had a turbo IMS bearing failure on another customer’s turbo due to oil quality issues. For my car, he had the engine out to replace the turbo cooling lines and we decided to go with the upgraded bearing at that time. I asked him just now about the state of my original bearing and he said it looked fine. Again, this was preventative maintenance only, and I'm sure that the IMS bearing failures raging in the 997 community t the time influenced my decision.
Just shot my mechanic a text to get the info - I will post when I get word back.
I will get the specifics on what my mechanic installed. I know it made sense to me at the time.
Bid in the amount of $28,000
I didn’t even know an aftermarket “upgraded IMS bearing” was ever available on a Mezger. How do you upgrade a plain journal bearing?
Yes, you are correct. The video sequence recordings should have started with a cold start in the morning, not after the other videos were recorded and the engine already warm! I will post a video this morning.
@testfishy
The provided cold start video is not a true “cold start” since the water and oil temps are in the normal operating temps. Could you provide us with a true cold start video? BTW - love the spec on this one!
At the time of bearing replacement, the 997 world was exploding with concern over IMS bearing failures and bore score, neither of which are concerns with the Mezger GT1 engine on the 997.1 turbo.
Very astute! The bearing replacement on the Mezger engine was completely optional. I upgraded to a better bearing when I had the engine out to fix/upgrade coolant lines. To be honest, it was not necessary, but with the engine out I took the opportunity to make the Mezger even more worry free.
@testfishy
This 997.1 Turbo has a Mezger engine.
Could you please explain what the upgraded IMS bearing is all about?
Very nice!
Yes, all records will transfer. I will post the maintenance and paint invoices, PPI, and DME Report tomorrow morning.
@testfishy all maintenance records, including the paint repair receipts will be transferred with the sale correct?
@testfishy thank you
Sorry for any confusion - nothing on the rear of the car has been replaced. I'm calling the front panels quarter panels, but could be called also be called fenders.
@testfishy just to clarify, were the front fenders replaced or the quarter panels on the rear by the engine? You mentioned hood being replaced so I wanted to clarify.
The windshield, hood, and quarter panels were replaced with new Porsche OEM parts.
@testfishy thank you for the thorough responses to the paint and seat questions.
Also after15 years of driving this car regularly, the paint was showing it's age. Then in October of 2021, I went into my garage to drive to work, and to my shock the overhead storage rack in my garage had broke loose and emptied the contents of my Christmas ornaments on the front of the car; the windshield, hood, and both front quarter panels suffered damage, so I took this opportunity to completely restore the paint to the original factory Porsche Light Metallic Blue (Code 30T), vice just having the front half of the car repainted. This was a professional $25,000 paint restoration, with all painted panels, lights, glass, etc. removed. I finished the restoration with PPF and ceramic coating.
Bid in the amount of $26,000
To be clear, the seats were not replaced, they were upholstered with new leather.
Bid in the amount of $25,000
Good evening. After 15 years of driving this car, the driver's side seat leather was showing wear, and replacing the leather on one seat and not the other would not have been the right thing to do aesthetically. So I had both seats professionally redone with new original-color cocoa brown leather a few months back. Since the seats were out, I decided to paint the seatbacks to match the exterior. I ordered the car from the factory with the center console painted to match the exterior color, but Porsche did not offer the seatbacks painted as an option for some reason. It took 15 years, but I finally got the interior how I originally wanted it! I also had the Porsche crests stitched in the headrests with the new leather. I will respond to the new exterior paint in the next post.
Good evening Seller. Very beautiful color on a 997! Why did you have the car repainted and why the seats replaced.
@testfishy Great color, great service history, and you used this care as Porsche intended by driving it! GLWTA
