Available for auction is this 2008 Jeep WK Grand Cherokee SRT-8 finished in Black over a Dark Slate Gray leather and suede interior. Debuted at the 2005 New York International Auto Show, the first generation of Jeep’s high-performance SRT-8 model featured a 6.1 L Hemi, Brembo brakes, Bilstein suspension, a fortified Dana 44 rear differential, and many more unique upgrades. This 2008 example was originally purchased from Glendora Jeep and has remained in California throughout its life while cared for by two different owners. Factory options include SRT option groups I and II, navigation, and a power sunroof. Benefitting from a major service recently completed at a cost of over $4k, this first-generation Grand Cherokee SRT-8 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California showing approximately 63k miles on the odometer.

This Jeep comes finished in Black and features an SRT-specific front fascia and rear diffuser with dual polished center-exit exhaust tips. The finish is said to remain in outstanding overall condition apart from a small scratch on the rear driver-side door and minor ding on the roof. Detailed photos can be found in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. Factory equipment includes automatic high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps with an automatic headlamp leveling system, fog lamps, flip-up liftgate glass, and staggered-width 20″  aluminum wheels. The car comes fitted with a set of new Michelin Latitude Sport tires mounted within the last 1k miles.

The interior is trimmed in Dark Slate Gray leather with suede seat inserts. Factory equipment includes power-operated front seats, heated second-row seats, a rear overhead console with DVD entertainment, automatic climate control, a 6.5″ touchscreen multimedia system, a power sunroof, navigation, and a backup camera. The seller notes minimal signs of wear on the driver's seat and reports all features and accessories to be working properly.

Power comes from a 6.1L Hemi V8 with a forged crankshaft, lightened pistons, strengthened connecting rods, and a cast aluminum intake manifold. As much as 425 HP and 420 lb.-ft of torque are sent to all four wheels by way of a NAG1 5-speed automatic transmission paired with a unique NV146 transfer case and specially designed Quadra-Trac four-wheel-drive system. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH is achieved in under 5 seconds, and the SRT-8 will continue to a top speed of up to 170 MPH. Off-road gear was removed to improve on-road performance, and the sport-tuned suspension allows the SRT-8 to generate as much as 0.92 g on the skid-pad. The CARFAX report includes 16 service records dating as far back as 2007. A major service recently completed at a dealership is said to have included a new radiator, thermostat, coolant hoses, a new font differential mount, new hood props, and new fluids for the cooling system, brakes, power steering, transmission, differentials, and transfer case. A corresponding service invoice is provided in the gallery.

This sale will include service records and a clean title. One of the original high-power performance SUVs, the SRT-8 is well on its way to becoming a modern classic. Do not miss your chance to own this well maintained 2008 example.

As an owner of this Jeep’s near identical twin, I will say that it can consistently go toe-to-toe with both my 996 C4S, and my 997 Turbo in the “smiles per dollar” category. Glad to see it here on PCM. GLWTA!

The way things are going, cars equipped with drive trains like this one will soon be in short supply.

Yes, looks like the hard plastic part of the mirror facings were painted - probably result of SoCal sun fade on the black plastic. Also unfortunately a few big splatters on them as well.

What's going on with the paint on the mirrors? If I'm not mistaken that paint should be gloss black just like the rest of the vehicle and it looks matte black and even like it has runs in it. I can't tell if the clear coat is failing/failed or if they've been poorly resprayed or maybe just a camera angle (although it really doesn't appear that way). Thanks for any clarification.

undercarriage is in excellent condition - SoCal car with no rust. I am at Barrett-Jackson for a few days and will try and get undercarriage shots later in the week.

  • JayYu 2 years, 10 monthsago

Any pictures of the undercarriage? It being in California its whole life, I suppose it's nice a rust free?

Welcome to the auction of my Jeep SRT8. This is a beautifully preserved Jeep that has had meticulous care since new. I purchased the Jeep from the original Newport Beach owners who were in their 80’s and who took wonderful care of it. With the extensive recent service, this Jeep needs nothing and is ready to drive and enjoy. I will be available to answer any questions or provide more specific information to your questions.
