Up for auction is this rare 2008 Porsche Cayman S Sport Edition finished in Carrara White over a black interior with Sport Seats. Marked as #191 out of 700 examples built in total, this special edition 987 commanded a base price of over $10k more than the standard Cayman S and comes equipped with unique model-specific details, the Sport Chrono Package, Porsche Sport Exhaust, and Porsche Adaptive Suspension Management (PASM). This particular example has also been modified with an IPD intake plenum, Porsche GT3 front stabilizer bar, custom vinyl graphics, and an integrated Bluetooth module for the original radio. A true collector’s item, this limited-edition Cayman S is now being offered for auction by its seller in Connecticut with just over 27k miles showing on the odometer.
Reported to have always been garage-kept, the Carrara White finish is stated by the seller to be in pristine original condition. The only noted flaw is a very slight scuff mark on the front bumper above the license plate area, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery. This special edition comes standard with a twin-chamber exhaust tailpipe, a gloss-black rear model designation, gloss-black side air vents, black side strips with model designations, Bi-Xenon headlights, 5mm wheel spacers, and 19” Sport Design wheels finished in black. This example has also been customized with carbon fiber mirror covers, LED lighting, a silver/black front emblem, aftermarket LED taillights, Zunsport radiator grilles, and a carbon fiber vinyl wrap over the hood and roof with custom Martini livery stripes. The original taillights are included in the sale and new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires were reportedly installed within the last 1k miles.
Inside, you will find a like-new black leather interior with factory Sport Bucket Seats. The cabin showcases unique details including an exposed instrument cluster, a 3-spoke Sport steering wheel, handbrake lever, and shift knob in Alcantara, a Sport-look footrest, gloss-black trim, stainless-steel door entry guards with logos, and a limited-edition numbered placard located on the glovebox. Other premium features optioned for this example include heated seats, automatic climate control, and the Bose High-End Sound System. Modifications include LED interior lights, a Rennline cell phone mount, a chrome Amerex fire extinguisher, a clear engine cover, and a Bluetooth module for the original radio. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional and the original engine cover is included in the sale.
Power comes from a naturally aspirated 3.4 L flat-six engine that is capable of producing 303 HP. The rear wheels are driven through a smooth 6-speed manual transmission which allows this coupe to accelerate from 0-60 MPH in approximately 5 seconds. Riding 10mm lower than a standard Cayman S, the Sport Edition is equipped with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard along with the Sport Exhaust System and Sport Chrono Package. This example features an upgraded IPD intake plenum, a Porsche GT3 front stabilizer bar, Tarrett Engineering adjustable front sway bar end links, Porsche GT3 front brake cooling ducts, Fabspeed tie-downs/ jack points, and Stoptech stainless steel brake lines. Service records are said to be included showing proper routine maintenance from new, and the seller indicates that a clean DME report is available as well as satisfactory recent compression test results. The following items were also carried out in January of 2019 at 25,444 miles shortly after the seller’s initial purchase:
Included in the sale of this Cayman S Sport Edition are service records, owner’s manuals, the original window sticker, original engine cover, taillights, and a clean title.

@fredf543 The headliner has never been replaced and the IMS bearing issue rarely applies to the Cayman. When I did my research prior to purchase I verified the “engine serial number” and it was far beyond the production engines that may have been effected. Great question, and no IMS bearing concerns with this production engine number.
Have a great day!
@radua @radua, correct at some point it looks like it was “kissed” gently by something. VERY HARD TO SEE unless looking for it, but I did include it in the descriptor for that reason. As I am extremely meticulous border-lining on OCD with my vehicles, if it were anything less than a minor imperfection it would of been appropriately addressed.
Have a great day!

@PcarPaul @PcarPaul,
Good Morning! I will try to get to car as it is stored with several of my others in a climate controlled environment over the winter months. The 3 ring binder of documentation resides inside the bonnet. I will also call Porsche of Wallingford this morning to see if I can get an email copy of invoice.
Rest assured, all documentation is on point.
Thank you for your inquiry!

How can one see the DME report and compression results mentioned in the listing? I did not see it in the gallery. Thanks

Does picture #24 show some paint cracking in the front bumper? If you zoom in, looks like some horizontal cracks. Thanks.

Has the headliner been replaced. If so when.
Has the car had any issue with the IMS bearing. The bearing issue is up to the 2008 model cars.
Bid in the amount of $10,250
@BadDog I too have had many Porsche’s inclusive of several 911’s. I can confidently say the mid-engine layout is truly an unbelievable driving experience. This specifically appointed Cayman is my favorite to date and my second was my 1989 944 “Turbo S” for handling, “analog” driving experience and near perfect 50/50 weight distribution.
Best,
~Barry
@beterginio Thanks Beterginio, for the prompt response.
I appreciate the additional context within which to consider an offer. Track time is not a negative. It’s a factor that’s useful in the decision making process. I’ve owned 30+ 911s over the last 40 years, several which were prepped and tracked, including 930’s, a ‘93 RSA which I Club Raced, a ’94 965T, and ‘07 GT3. Each of these were nice as your Cayman when sold, including all log books and records, which the new owners appreciated. I’ve not yet owned a mid engine P-car, and yours has my attention. Thanks for sharing your car-guy background, I appreciate street cred, and It’s good for bidders to see the car through your eyes. Again, GLWTA!
@BadDog @BadDog, I participated in one event with Audi Club of New England the summer of 2019. The two prior owners, inclusive of the woman whom I purchased it from and the original owner I have no knowledge. Based on the caliber of the vehicle I highly doubt it as I have owned well over 100 cars and each of them have to be pristine perfect for me to purchase and I know what to look for based on experience and passion for rare vehicles. Lastly, when took the Cayman for an oil change in August 2020 at Porsche of Wallingford the DME showed zero over-revs which re-assured my theory.
Have a great evening and thank you!

@robertnixon @robertnixon, this was a factory accessory to hold one quart of oil. I bought it because...I just had to have it :)
This looks like an awesome Cayman! What is the Porsche bag in the Frunk, photo 49?
(there's got to be some Joe Walsh James Gang joke about his song Frunk 49 !)
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments. This is an absolutely exquisite vehicle and will exceed all of your expectations in caliber and performance. I have owned well over 100 cars, each one with specific rarity and pedigree and this vehicle falls within my top 10 of all time.
Best,
~Barry
