This 2007 first-generation Porsche 987 Cayman S is finished in Basalt Black Metallic over a two-tone Black and Stone Grey interior and features a 6-speed manual transmission, the Bose High-End Sound Package, Exterior Package Aluminum Look, and Preferred Package Plus among other optional equipment. Cared for by two owners and with approximately 73k miles showing on the odometer, this Cayman S is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Illinois.
This 987 is finished in Basalt Black Metallic with the optional aluminum-look trim, bi-xenon headlights, and 18” Cayman S wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. Compared to a base model, the Cayman S features red-painted brake calipers and dual exhaust outlets. The seller notes the car has been kept in climate-controlled storage and rides on a set of Michelin Pilot Sport tires from 2017. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The rare two-tone Black and Stone Grey interior includes optional heated seats, the Bose High-End Sound Package, and a multifunction steering wheel in aluminum-look. Other options include a telephone module for PCM, a remote 6-disc CD changer, self-dimming mirrors with a rain sensor, and Preferred Package Plus.
A naturally aspirated mid-mounted 3.4-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 295 HP to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH takes place in approximately 5 seconds and stopping power is derived from fixed 4-piston brakes paired with ventilated and cross-drilled discs. The CARFAX report shows maintenance history dating back to the original purchase and the seller states there are no outstanding services at this time.
This sale will include a clean title.

@Sdynamite not sure what the confusion is. tires are from 2013 and 2015. They have lots of left. If the car hits over $35K I’ll include a brand new set for the next owner. Thanks
still confused - used tires manufactured in 2013 and 2015 were mounted in 2017?
Bid in the amount of $15,500
@SocalGraham nav screen has a scratch, you can have it sent out and fixed ($200). Carfax is clean, indicating no accidents, paint meter test indicated no paint work.
@Stuttgart_911 all original paint on all panels. There is no indication of any panels replaced on this vehicle.
@Jano4 often times tires sit on the shelves before they are put on cars. We have posted the date codes in the listing and taken pictures.
What's up with the scratched up display? carfax shows. no accidents but a comment suggests panels were replaced after one.
???
Love these 987 Caymans! @collectorcars - any info on what panels were repaired after the 2013 accident? Any evidence of bondo? Thanks
Ad states "Michelin Pilot Sport tires from 2017" but based on the photo's it appears they are date coded as 2013 and 2015.
The incidence of IMS failures in 2006-2008 Porsche Boxster, Cayman, and 911 models with the M96 or M97 engine is "very low". We would estimate about a "1% failure rate".

@EQM https://lnengineering.com/products/the-definitive-guide-and-faq-for-porsche-ims-bearings/my06-08-porsche-cayman-boxster-911-ims-bearing.html?limit=5&mode=list
@EQM the 07 cayman S has an unserviceable IMS bearings meaning you cannot replace it. I have no record of a clutch replacement. I’ve driven the car 500 miles during our ownership, vehicle clutch position is normal, not high, or in need of a replacement at this time.
Has the IMS bearing issue been taken care of on this vehicle? Also, has the clutch ever been replaced? If so, how many miles are on the clutch? Thanks!
@Quackbury it’s fuel and tpms. We can reshoot the video with more fuel if you’d like.
@brainf18 that isn’t a cover the steering wheel is refinished and stitched like that. Most likely prior owner had it sent out and recovered.
What's up with the steering wheel cover? Can you remove that so we can see the condition to the steering wheel below the cover?
The driving video shows three warning lights. One is low fuel. Seller has stated a second is the TPMS. What is the third?
@collectorcars thx!
@leftlanemarko tpms light. The sensors need to be replaced. Most likely dead batteries.
There seems to be some warning lights flashing on the dashboard. Can the seller explain what they are? The video is too blurry.
