Available for auction is this 2007 Porsche 987 Cayman S finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a black leather interior. Inside, the black standard leather interior remains nicely preserved overall with minor wear noted by the seller. The driver is also supplied with the Bose High-End Sound Package, heated seats, a Remote CD Changer (6 Disc), and automatic climate control. An upgraded shift knob has been installed as well as a layer of removable window tint, All gauges, electronics, and accessories are confirmed by the seller to remain functional.
The first-generation Cayman S is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.4L flat-six engine featuring a two-stage resonance induction system, integrated dry-sump lubrication, and VarioCam Plus variable valve timing. As much as 295 HP and 252 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. Porsche Stability Management (PSM) and Active Brake Differential (ABD) come standard. Congrats
I don't know where you where, Cadejo, but I was removing a faulty alternator on my E-Type and got too involved to follow the action.
So we both lost out, but you gotta feel good for the winner!
What a great buy! Where was I?

@WRENCH.56 I bought it from a dealership in Texas and had it ship to KS. I didn’t do a PPI unfortunately. Once I had it in my possession I took it to the local Porsche dealership. The only thing they mentioned that needed service at some point were tires. I went ahead and bought new tires after they mentioned it. I wish I had more info for you but unfortunately I don’t. The only reason I’m selling is because I purchased an Aston Martin on this site a few weeks ago.
So all I see is one oil change during your ownership and no obvious records of anything else since 2011. Did you do a PPI before your acquisition? If so, would you be willing to post it ASAP?
I own an almost identical Cayman S which I bought new and I’d offer a comment on the shaft bearing issue. I went thru several years where I had the shop open the old oil filter for inspection. Nothing ever. Looking at the sketchy stats for this potential problem, it seems that we’re talking about occurrence in the 1-2% range. Imo not much worth worrying about unless regular service intervals have not been religiously observed. We’re I looking to buy this car, I’d make certain of this and I’d plan on replacement of the main drive belt if that has not been done.
Last day! Looking forward to your bids. Jano4, thanks for your bid. Reserve is very close.
@WRENCH.56 well aware, I did that mod 5yrs ago. It seemed to me you were asking in it had been replaced.. the m97 motors aren’t bulletproof above 7k, so if that’s the target, do all the preventions
Bid in the amount of $22,000
@Viss1 no money is owed on the car and title is in transit to me. I’ll have it in hand in a few days.
@Fuel4All - Just to verify, by “free and clear” you’re confirming the title is in your possession and no money is owed in the car?
GT3 guy, yes, what you say is true. But I'm quite certain that, although the failure rate for that engine is quite low, one fix for any potential failure is directing the oil flow from the oil pressure sensor line to feed the IMS bearing. My understanding is that this, if properly done, does not interfere with an accurate oil pressure reading.
I learned this trick from a highly skilled Porsche mechanic friend who does race-prep work on these engines.
@WRENCH.56 you cannot change out an IMS bearing in a 2005.5-2008 911/cayman/boxster… that would require a full motor tear down to complete which this has not..

@twickes40 My apologies, you're correct. I thought you meant no oil change ever. I can upload the last oil change/inspection I had. As for the prior years of ownership before me, I was told by the selling dealer that it was done at an independent shop. (Per prior owner) I have no reason to believe it was not based on the vehicle's condition.
@Fuel4All image #132 has the last service in 2011. What am I missing?
@twickes40 Please relook at the carfax and ensure it's not the auto check report that you are looking at. Carfax does have this detail that you are looking for.
I’m in the market for one of these, but the lack of history/service records is unfortunate. Carfax doesn’t even show an oil change for the last 9 years.
@WRENCH.56 free and clear
@Koisvg none of this has been done under my ownership.
The Autocheck report makes reference to a lien, perhaps a present one.
Are there presently any liens on the car or is the title in hand free and clear?
Have you done any compression tests or had the cylinder walls looked at for bore scoring?
Just a couple of days left on the auction, looking forward to your bids. I priced the reserve at a very reasonable price so should go off of reserve fairly quick!
Yep, Saw 'em. Headliner looks perfect.
@WRENCH.56 just added pics.
Thanks for the quick response.

@WRENCH.56 Great questions, I unfortunately don’t have any records on IMS or any oil analysis records. I can assure you the headliner is not sagging and in fantastic shape. I’ll try and get a pic uploaded tonight. Thanks
Nice looking and nicely optioned Cayman!
Questions:
1. Any record of IMS and/or RMS replacement?
2. If not, any oil reports from a lab like Blackstone or any pics of oil filters cut open?
3. Is the headliner intact or sagging? Can you please post a headliner photo or two?
Thanks in advance.

FYI...The tint on the car is ceramic and was installed last March. It has a transferable warranty.
@estiles001 I think you're right; the 19-in wheels help fill out the wheel space much better. I honestly did not know they were an upgrade until I bought the car.
@Fuel4All @twickes40 I was going to ask the same thing about the suspension - it looks a tad lower than stock. Much better look IMO. Maybe it's just the 19" wheels tricking my eyes though.
@rustynail58 No worries. Thanks
@rustynail58 No smells or anything of the sort. I already have a cold start video and drive video in the listing.
Sorry
Just saw the drive cideo!
My bad...
Hello,
Have you noticed any unusual sounds, smells, drips or seepage coming from the car.
Can we get a cold start and maybe a drive cideo?
Great looking Cayman
@twickes40 Original suspension as far as I'm aware, and I doubt the shifter cables have been done either. I don't have any evidence from the prior owner that they have been done. Thanks for the question.
Hi - Great looking car. What suspension is it riding on? Do you know if the shifter cables have ever been replaced? I know they can be problematic on these cars.
FYI…I have the original fog lamps if you don’t like the aftermarket LED spar headlamps.
Hello All , happy to answer any questions you might have. Looking forward to your bids!
