Now available for auction at no-reserve is this 2007 Porsche 987 Cayman S project car finished in Carrara White over a custom black performance-oriented interior. With its mid-engine configuration providing for ideal weight distribution and handling, the Cayman model has become a favorite amongst driving enthusiasts around the world. This 2007 Cayman S has been modified with track-oriented safety equipment and some noteworthy performance upgrades including a Bilstein coil over suspension and Borla exhaust system. Having suffered a wrist pin failure which has rendered the engine completely inoperable, this Cayman S offers the perfect project opportunity for anyone in search of a street-legal Porsche racecar.
The Carrara White finish is noted to be in good shape with some older paint protection film remaining over the front end. Some typical roadgoing wear can also be seen as detailed in the images provided in the photo gallery. This Cayman S rides on factory 18” wheels which come dressed in healthy Bridgestone Potenza tires dated 2018 in the front and 2019 in the rear.
Inside, the cabin has been outfitted with track-oriented safety equipment including Sparco EVO II seats, Schroth 6-point harnesses, a Sparco quick-release steering wheel and a Heigo bolt-in roll bar. Factory options include automatic climate control, the Bose Surround Sound System and the Bi-Xenon Headlight Package. The interior is said to be in great condition with all gauges and accessories remaining fully functional.
This Cayman S carries a 3.4 L flat-six engine which is rated at 295 HP stock. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 6-speed manual transmission making for a factory 0-60 time of approximately 5 seconds. This Cayman S has been upgraded with additional performance modifications including the following:
The engine is reported to have been replaced at 67k miles under previous ownership by an authorized Porsche dealer. The current owner would later purchase the car at 72k miles (true mileage unknown) shortly before experiencing a wrist pin failure on the track which caused total engine damage. The engine is currently inoperable, and an authorized Porsche dealer has determined that a replacement will be needed.
The sale of this 987 will include two keys, owner’s books and service records. The Carfax report indicates a potential mileage discrepancy, although this may be a clerical error. For any enthusiast willing to put in the effort, this Cayman S offers a tremendous value.
