Produced from 2006 to 2012, the Porsche 997 Targa was the last to feature a sliding glass roof system and an opening rear hatch. This 2007 Targa 4S is finished in Carrara White over a Sand Beige leather interior, features a 6-speed manual transmission mated to its 3.8-liter flat-six engine, and was optioned to an original sticker price of over $114k including the Power Seat Package, Sport Chrono Package Plus, the Bose High-End Sound Package, the Sport Exhaust System, and more. This 997 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Louisiana showing approximately 49k miles on the odometer.
The 997 Targa features a convertible hardtop system with a sliding glass roof panel, an opening rear hatch window, a retractable sunshade, and a unique chrome accent along the roofline. The top-range 4S variant is further distinguished by red brake calipers and quad exhaust tips. This example is finished in Carrara White and rides on 19” Turbo wheels. The seller notes that Porsche-scripted side stripes have been added and the taillights have been tinted. The CARFAX report lists an accident occurring in September 2013, as well as two entries in January 2018 detailing an accident and the subsequent total loss declaration. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin is upholstered in Sand Beige full leather with matching floor mats, and features optional heated front seats, a leather-wrapped three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, Sport Chrono Package Plus, the Parking Assist System, a module for telephone PCM, navigation, the Bose High End Sound Package, and a remote 6-disc CD changer. Additional options include the rear center console, steering column, and door finishers in leather, as well as an aluminum footrest, and the Targa top system consists of a sliding glass roof and an opening rear hatch window as well as a power-operated sunshade and a glass wind deflector strip which automatically raises into place.
Powered by a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six engine, the Targa 4S sends up to 355 HP and 295 lb.-ft. of torque to all four wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH is achievable in approximately 4.5 seconds and the optional Sport Chrono Package Plus allows the driver to optimize performance characteristics while providing additional data through the PCM system. The seller reports to have fitted new struts.
This sale will include a window sticker, an air pump, and a branded title.
The seller would like you to know: “The car is in good working condition. When the car was transported from Florida to California the battery was disconnected for safety reasons. When the car was registered in California, the car defaulted to KM. The owner found out about this a few days later and rectified the problem legally at the DMV. I have the original email explaining this.”

@Odeffer I apologize for both crossing my car platforms Bat vs PcarMarket and for wrongly assuming everyone enjoys having their honest work being criticized. In retrospect, of course you’re correct - Porsche is a great brand and having the chance to own and drive, especially if your work puts you in that position.
I’d think your skill is better applied to your profession anyway 😉
And thank you for being so polite about it all.
Bid in the amount of $6,500
I am selling this car because aside of trying to rebuild a property, I am not using the car to perhaps once per month. My wife does not want to ride since her X7 and my i4 are much more confortable. I purchased a Porsche just to experience it and I believe it’s a great brand. Have driven BMWs since 1988. I enjoy driving German cars. From 320i, 318i, 5 series, X 5-7 series and now an I4.
Selling a car is not my forte and I have tried to put videos up, but unfortunately this platform is not too user friendly for posting videos.
The car is in good condition and if any of you are looking to get a very fair value on this Targa this is your car.
No, I will not sell for a flash sale otherwise I will just keep it for my garage collection.
By profession a Cardiologist so no sweat if this car does not sell.
Thanks for all your feedback
I confess to being a Bat glazer - always searching for the perfect 997.2 for me. I’m surprised this specific car is on Bat without more concrete evidence of its operating characteristics. A salvage title and Carfax with “total loss” and a “story” odometer requires significant documentation to get an optimized or even “fair to its repair” condition offer.
Love the 997 targa. Owned a ‘06 Cab, I know they deliver. This repair looks well done and if so, deserves better and more thorough presentation.
I appreciate all the feedback
@Odeffer You can easily upload videos to YouTube and place the link to them in comments. A cold start video is a basic necessity for Porsche auctions. 1) Show the gauges, 2) turn the key to ON without starting it, 3) set the camera down behind the car to the back to show the exhaust pipes, 4) then walk over and start it. Super easy to do. Trying to help you here.
The paint flacking on image 77 doesn't seem to be present in image 74 which looks to be an image taken when the car was repaired. We have the rear bumper which looks to be repaired cracking and a repainted panel peeling. This looks to be very poor prep by the body shop; I would honestly be worried about other repaired areas cracking, flacking, or peeling in the future.
@Odeffer, mind providing some additional details on the paint defects?
@Odeffer lol this is just not true
Is the crack in the rear bumper due to poor prior work? Looks like body filler that is starting to crack, if that's the case I would question the overall repair.
This platform is not amenable to videos
Not user friendly
Thanks for your advice. I wish uploading videos could be perform
Bid in the amount of $5,714
@Odeffer this will likely hamper the sale- you also have not put up any videos off he car running, the targa roof operation etc - at a minimum I would do a cold start, driving video and roof operation.
The PPI will not be possible as it takes 3 days
I guess if you are interested in the car we can arrange for something
Thank you
Bid in the amount of $5,250
There is the image closeup
It’s a scratch not a crack

Word to the wise... sellers that perform a PPI before the auction and include it in the docs, have auctions that close for thousands more. Small investment, large return. There's still time.
I will send you a close up pic of image 48
There are no cracks
@drrmarquardt Thank you for feedback
I sent what the prior owner gave me. I believe all airbags that deployed were replaced.
@PCARMARKET sure Thank you for contacting me
Please let me know how to arrange for a PPI; I am glad to do this
@drrmarquardt hi. PPI should be done prior to auction close as the sale needs to be final for the seller. Our policy explains this, if you need assistance please contact our help desk.
Bid in the amount of $4,997
Have you arranged for a PPI? Or are you able offer final sale contingent on a satisfactory PPI? Is that even possible on this auction site?
Thanks for uploading the pictures. Was the airbag replaced? I didn't notice it on the repair invoice. Also, on image 48, is that a crack in the metal where the driver side quarter panel meets the frunk near the headlight?
Here you go, these are the pics when the car was repaired and it shows exactly what kind of repairs were performed. As you can see the damage to the car was mostly plastics and cosmetics. Once again, I am selling in order to use the money for renovation of a recent inherited property. In addition I hardly ever use the car and my wife does not want to ride with me. The car drives well and like mentioned, decided to add new struts. Please let me know if you have further questions.
Unable to add videos though

@Holmesjc3 ok Thank you
@Odeffer I would ask admin
Please also send some videos of cold start and driving.
Realistically given the history I would recommend you go get the car inspected for a PPI from a reputable shop if you want folks to bid
Can files be uploaded directly from my cel without needing a Pc?
@Holmesjc3 yes the hood, doors, hatch and rear engine door close fine. The sunroof works fine too
@Holmesjc3 sure, I have many pics
I have the files with all that
Thank you
@Holmesjc3 hood ^
Is the good latch closing properly?
Also more detail on if being declared a total loss and details on the accident would be helpful
I have uploaded the pics for the legal explanation of the odometer discrepancy. Please let me know if you have other questions

@drrmarquardt , the odometer was not roll back. The car was transported and the battery was disconnected. The odometer reset back to KM. The prior owner took the car to the DMV and this was rectified. I have the letter explaining this. I can provide this to you.
Thank you
The odometer was displayed in kilometers due to a battery reset, and mistakenly entered into the CA DMV system as miles. Once the car was set back to miles it appeared to CarFax to be a rollback.
Bid in the amount of $3,997
What is up with the odometer roll back? I understand the collision history, salvage title and all, but I would like to know more about the actual mileage of this vehicle. Given the known issues, I don't expect a significant bid for this car. Am I wrong?

@motofabio Thank you for contacting me
I have a google file with all the pics when it was repaired in 2018. I will also send you the pics you requested of the car underneath. I replaced the covers for esthetic purposes.
Please give me through the weekend
Orlando... can you please include the following: 1) photos of the undercarriage, up on a lift if possible would be most appreciated. Since the accident includes undercarriage damage, specifically what was repaired/replaced. 2) Any photos of the car from the accident. 3) A cold start video from the back so we can see the exhaust tips. 4) Tire date codes. 5) Any oil leaks or other known issues? Thank you.
