Up for auction is this 2007 Porsche 997 Targa 4S finished in Carrara White. Representing only a very small portion of total 997 production, the Targa model was available with all-wheel-drive only and was the final 911 Targa to feature a sliding glass roof system and opening rear hatch. This launch year example was configured with a 6-speed manual transmission and Sport Chrono Package Plus as well as a Sea Blue interior with leather seats, a painted center console, and an embossed storage compartment lid. Recently serviced by an authorized Porsche dealer, this Targa 4S is now being offered for auction out of New York while showing just under 1k miles on the odometer.

This 997 comes finished in Carrara White and is distinguished by a Targa-specific chrome accent below the roofline as well as wide fenders and red-painted brake calipers. The factory 19" Carrera S wheels come fitted with optional colored Porsche center crests and a set of Michelin Pilot Sport tires dated from 2020. A few small scrape marks are present at the bottom edge of the front bumper, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.

The Sea Blue interior includes leather seats and an exclusive rear center console painted in Carrara White adorned with a "Targa" embossed storage bin lid. Other optional features include Sport Chrono Package Plus, heated front seats, self-dimming mirrors, the Bose High-End Sound Package, and Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with navigation. The Targa top system includes a sliding glass roof panel, retractable sunshade, and a unique rear hatch that opens for access to the parcel shelf. The seller notes partial delamination of the painted finish towards the rear of the center console.

This first-generation 997 is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.8L flat-six engine that produces up to 355 HP and 295 lb.-ft of torque.  All four wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission, allowing acceleration from 0-60 MPH in approximately 4.5 seconds. The optional Sport Chrono Package Plus allows the driver to optimize performance characteristics while providing additional data through the PCM system. The CARFAX report shows the last recorded service to have been carried out in April of 2021 at 960 miles by Porsche Gold Coast in Jericho, New York including brake fluid flush, oil and filter change, new battery, and battery/charging system check. A compilation of service records will be provided to the next owner.

This sale will include a set of two keys, owner's manuals, service records, the original window sticker, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean title. A 997 Targa 4S with less than 1k miles driven, this 6-speed 2007 example presents a very rare opportunity.

    An amazing opportunity!
Anything under $125k, this will be a steal.

As we approach the last hour, the 983 mile 997 will be finding a new home today! Thanks everyone for your interest!

  • DSchwartz (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@Russbaribault Can you buy a sub 1k mile Porsche at/under MSRP right now? This may be someone's last chance!

  • DSchwartz (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@garrettonthego No question is a dumb question. Yes, I've always kept it in a garage. The 2021 service was an oil change, new tires, brake fluid flush, new battery. There were no unaddressed concerns. This would be a great compliment to a turbo (it currently shares a stable with one). The car is located in Huntington, NY (north shore of Long Island). Hit the contact the seller and we can discuss shipping/pickup.

  • garrettonthego (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@DSchwartz - thanks. few more questions. how is shipping/delivery coordinated and how quickly will this take place. It sounds like despite low mileage, it was driven regularly enough so fluids didn't sit and hoses didn't crack. what service was done at the dealer most recently and what issues identified/addressed - if any. trying to understand what I might inherit. For perspective, I have a 15K mile 2007 Turbo and know what I had to do when I received it. can you also confirm garage kept - a dumb question perhaps, but just checking.

  • DSchwartz (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@garrettonthego Thank you, to answer your questions:

    1. See pic 78 in the gallery. The factory-painted console is slightly delaminating. I don't know the cause and wanted to keep the car as original as possible.

    2. I can confirm the cup holder is in good working order and not damaged.

    3. The car was typically driven a few miles each year. Either for NYS inspection or service. The CarFax shows ~70 miles per year. It was regularly started.

  • garrettonthego (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@DSchwartz can you expand on the damage to the center armrest for the rear seats? appears the cupholder is damaged? Also, how often was this driven - did it sit for long periods of time? thanks

  • DSchwartz (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Many thanks to all of the bidders and commenters!

As we enter the final 24 hours of the auction please let me know if you have any questions.

The next owner will enjoy driving a like-new car now or continuing to preserve this time capsule for years to come. Thinking 10-15 years down the line, preserved is different from restored.

I have 5 911's and the 89 has 37000 miles, the 71 has 70,000 miles, the 05 carrera s has 26,000 miles the 14 50th less than 10,000 and 18 GT3 touring has less than 12000. all crazy low miles. In 2008 if a person wanted to find a low miles 2007 911 they would have been shocked and excited to buy a 2007 with less than 1000 miles!! this is a one of a kind opportunity!!

@DSchwartz beautiful car!! Tempted to add to our garage and will be watching this one closely. We have an 07 Carrara White GT3 and Turbo 6 spds in collector grade… and agree that the comments about the lack of leather is pretty ridiculous. Good luck with the auction!

  • Tangerine997 (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

    @DSchwartz Well said seller.
Regardless of the lack of leather, this should do far better than mine did back in Jan.
Going out on a limb here, but I'm sure full leather has never enhanced the driving experience.

@BarryLe Luckily you can always purchase and install a leather dash and door cards. Unfortunately, you can’t always purchase a 983 mile 997 :)

  • BarryLe (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Beautiful car! However, the lack of a full leather interior is disappointing. The lack of a leather dash and leather door cards is a big disqualifier for me.

    On wow!

Such a great opportunity for a new collector to add the massive additional mileage of…

    …wait…

    14.

Then LOCK IT UP FOREVER and never, ever let that odometer trip past 997!

@Russbaribault This car is gorgeous, perfect option list with manual trans(!) & color combo AND brand new! In this environment, it’s got to go for at least $110k, at the least.

    Hi PCar Market Community,

I am selling my 983 mile Targa 4S. My collecting ethos has shifted such that I'm offering this amazing example for sale. The next owner will have the privilege of enjoying this low-mile example or taking it over the 1,000-mile mark.

Feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to give a timely response. I believe in transparency in transactions. Thank you for your interest and happy bidding!

  • Russbaribault (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

I wonder if this will go for more than MSRP?
