Marking the second generation of Porsche’s roadgoing GT3 homologation car, the 997 version was introduced with the debuted with the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), advanced “zero lift” aerodynamics, and a new 400+ HP 3.6-liter Mezger engine. One of less than a thousand units reportedly sold in North America, this Porsche 997.1 GT3 comes finished in Carrara White over Black leather upholstery. It features the Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package, Chrono Package, a Sport steering wheel in leather, and more. Cared for by two previous owners, this GT3 is now being offered for auction by the selling dealer out of New Jersey showing less than 20k miles on the odometer.

This example is finished in Carrara White and features the Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package along with aftermarket LED front fog lights and turn signals. It rides on 19” GT3 wheels wrapped in new Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires mounted in August 2024. The front bumper has been refinished due to road wear, and the seller notes hardly noticeable stone chips on the front end, along with new stone guards applied on the front and rear fenders. Additionally, paint protection film covers the headlights and front turn signal lenses. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, the driver is situated within a Black interior featuring optional leather seats, a leather Sport steering wheel, and an aluminum footrest. A fire extinguisher was also selected, along with the Chrono Package which adds a stopwatch dial atop the dashboard. Factory features include automatic climate control, a power tilt/slide sunroof, and central locking. All gauges and electronics are reported to be in working order, and minor scratches are noted on the driver’s side doorsill.

A naturally aspirated 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine delivers up to 415 HP and 300 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH takes place in approximately 4 seconds with a top speed of over 190 MPH. Modifications include WEVO motor mounts, adjustable rear tow links, and aftermarket headers, sport mufflers, and a sport catalytic converter. The factory mufflers will be included in the sale. Additionally, service items are said to include the following:

  • October 2017: Oil and filter change, transaxle service, WEVO engine mounts, adjustable rear toe links, brake pads, brake fluid flush.
  • March 2018: Transmission rebuilt (3rd through 6th gear), new rear wheel bearings and control arms, rear brake rotors.
  • November 2019: Coolant leak repaired.
  • August 2024: Oil and filter change, new tires, new tire pressure monitors, DME report.
  • October 2024: Front brakes replaced.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a car cover, and the factory mufflers.

The seller would like you to know: “One of the most exhilarating Porsches to drive. The sound and feel are incredible, and that Metzger engine is a joy. A true collectible Porsche in the making on the best 997 platform.”

@TheGerman Thanks for the question. First, this car is in miles not kilometers. Also, this question was already answered twice below in the comments. This was the answer:
(was told by the previous owner, that he heard a whine in the transmission, brought it to PMR, which is one of the best Porsche Shops in NJ, and was told there was some wear on a few of the gears that was creating the whine and that his advice was to replace 3rd through 6th gear Syncros and to be safe 3rd through 6th gear. You can see the repair invoice photo in the gallery # 268 and 269.)

  • TheGerman (registered bidder) 1 month, 1 weekago

Can the seller explain why and how the transmission had to be rebuilt on a car with around 20,000 km? Thx

    @Ambassador-Auto Makes total sense—thank you

  • garrege 1 month, 1 weekago

    The seller's #2 comment below isn't technically 100% correct.
The rear carpet is perforated for where a factory rollbar CAN be installed. This is what people are seeing in picture #171. These perforations are completely original, all 997.1 GT3's come this way.

  • Ambassador-Auto (seller) 1 month, 1 weekago

@Hpizking Thanks for the question. The only thing that I was told by the previous owner, was that the first owner commuted in the car and the clean DME and overall condition of the car was why the previous owner purchased the car. Other than that, I would not know.

  • Hpizking 1 month, 1 weekago

The DME that is provided reflects an avg speed of 48 mph, which is much higher than average and hard to achieve over 20k miles—what accounts for that? It was disclosed that there was no track use—so is that mostly highway miles? If known..thanks. Seems a super clean example GLWS

  • Ambassador-Auto (seller) 1 month, 1 weekago

@garrege Yes, the stud helpers were not in the car when I purchased it and yes, it the seats are Alcantara.

  • Ambassador-Auto (seller) 1 month, 1 weekago

@ryneodonnell Thank you and thank you for the questions, please see the answers below:

    1) No, the paint meter readings are normal and very consistent. I find that reading in the 5's are very normal for a 997.

    2) There are no cuts in the carpet, or indicators of a rollbar. I do not know of any other seats in the car. When I got the car, the airbag light was on, brought it to my shop and was told that one of the airbags needed to be recoded. The previous owner did not know why the light was on either, but he did not have the seats changed or out of the car. No signs of a rollbar.

    3) Answered below: (Unfortunately, there is no note present. The previous owner said he remembers something to do with the rear wheel bearings having something to do with replacing the carriers. Other than that, I cannot specify)

    4) The Champion wheels are not available and did not come with the car.

    5) Yes, the previous owner always like when the center console matched the exterior color. When he had the front bumper painted (mentioned in the listing), he also had the shop do the center console. Nothing else painted.

    6) The previous owner had the car cleaned in detail as it was in his collection. I believe dry ice was part of that.
    7) Not that I am aware of. Car drives and track perfectly. The previous owner had plans to track the car, but never did. It sat in his collection and was barley used during his ownership with the exception of the work performed to make is as perfect as he could.

    8) The clean DME, was one of the reasons he purchased the car. It clearly had never been tracked or abused, which is what he wanted to start with. I agree, he should have installed a RS flywheel. I do not know why he didn't. He is the type of person who does not hold back on making his cars perfect, but clearly the flywheel was not on the radar.

I hope that helps with your questions.

  • garrege 1 month, 1 weekago

Missing the 2 wheel stud helpers in picture #180.

  • garrege 1 month, 1 weekago

Ad says the seats have optional leather. I think that's a mistake.

  • ryneodonnell (registered bidder) 1 month, 1 weekago

    Nice 997.1!

    Couple questions:

    1) are paint meter readings a little high? I thought they were 3.4-4.0 for OEM paint? Not certain though.

    2) does the car have cuts in rear carpet where roll bar was previously installed? The service records show seats needed airbag light recoded, which seems to me like seats were previously in the car? So then was a bar too?

    3) why all the rear suspension work? Seems odd.

    4) are the champion wheels available that were once on the car or test fit on the car?

    5) center console is not original option and appears aftermarket paint (banana painted dead give away). Anything else painted on the car?

    6) super clean undercarriage, nice. Is that original or was it dry iced?

    7) was the suspension in the rear messed with when all the rear links were replaced?

    8) amazingly clean dme. Crazy how the gears had issues. Any reason why? Tracked? Doesn’t seem so with dme. Hard to tell. Fine if so! Missed opportunity to install RS flywheel when trans was out. :)

    Thank you!

@JSav22 Thanks for the question. yes, the individual that I purchased it from, had it in his collection with all the intention of driving the car, but it never happened. He has now moved on to Ferraris and has sold off many of his Porsches.

  • JSav22 (registered bidder) 1 month, 1 weekago

Any explanation as to why only 150 miles have been added since 03/06/2017 (19,445)? Was the car in a collection just sitting?

@willra82 thanks for the comment. That’s how we received it and depending on the angle, it looks a little high and then it looks fine, but with the factory coil overs, we would be happy to drop it a bit for the winning bidder if they would like.

@M3tro81 Thanks for pointing that out. We went out into the warehouse and pulled the headlight out, lifted the washer up and it clicked into place. I have uploaded 4 photos into the gallery showing that it is at its proper height and in the correct position.

@titans99 Thanks for the questions. The coolant leak was just a loose hose at the back of the expansion tank. You can see the comments on photo 266 in the gallery.
