This 997 comes finished in Carrara White with a black cabriolet top, red brake calipers, and factory 19” Carrera S wheels fitted with optional colored center caps. The windows have been tinted and Scotchgard Paint Protection Film Pro Series has been applied to the full front bumper, half hood, partial front left and right fender, and side mirrors along with a removable EZ-lip lower front spoiler.  The Pirelli P Zero tires are dated from 2016 and the seller notes a scuff mark at the bottom of the front bumper, additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, this Cabriolet sports a Sand Beige standard leather interior with optional heated and power-operated seats featuring Porsche crested headrests. This first-generation 997 Carrera S is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.8L flat-six engine rated at 355 HP and 295 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 6-speed manual transmission which provides acceleration from 0-60 MPH in as little as 4.7 seconds. The CARFAX report shows 12 maintenance history records, and the seller notes a new fuel pump was installed in December of 2021. An oil service was completed at just over 8k miles in February of 2022.

This sale will include a set of two keys, the original window sticker, owner's manuals, and a clean title.

@vrroommmPcar993 it is just a reflection created by other cars' headlights. Rear bumper paint is in great condition. The area where the photos are taken by the Golden Gate Bridge has loose gravel so the car got a bit dusty at the bottom. The 997 has been cleaned since.

  • vrroommmPcar993 (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

In pic 33, is the paint strange or is it a reflection? Scuff marks, road oil or dirt behind the wheel?

  • cesx415 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Munich911 it was nice talking to you just now. To confirm: Convertible top is in great shape. Paint in rocker panels is in great shape. No sport exhaust. Yes on Bose stereo, refer to the sticker price for other included options. I will replace the EZ-Lip aftermarket rubber lip should you be the next owner. Thanks for your interest.

@cesx415 Thanks for the prompt reply. Is there ANY evidence of creasing on the top? Also does the car have sport exhaust?

  • cesx415 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Munich91 photos 147 and 150 are exactly the requested "area behind the back side windows”. There are NO signs of wear on the convertible top that would indicate the long term original owner left the convertible down for long periods of time. And I certainly do not ever park the car leaving the top down. There is only lint from my indoor cover that is present, and I will remove the lint prior to transfer.

  • Munich911 (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Munich911 cesx415 I meant to say pics of the area behind the “back side windows”. Thanks.

  • Munich911 (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

I was very much looking forward to seeing pictures of the top. The pics posted today unfortunately were not what I was looking forward. It would be most helpful if you could post additional pics showing how the top looks from both sides particularly the area behind the back windows. Anyone familiar with 911 cabs knows how ragged these tops can get if they are left down while being driven for extended periods of time. Additional photos from different angles would be very helpful in accessing the condition of the top. Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the last day of the live auction. Thank you for the interest and special thanks to the bidders . pcarmarket has added subsequent photos to the gallery. I'll be here for any remaining questions. Don’t miss out on this fine example: well-optioned, 9k mile, 6-speed manual, Carrara white over sand beige leather, 1st long term owner out of FL, and myself out of CA.
    • If winning bidder is in CA, a current smog certificate will be provided.
    • If winning bidder is out of state, I will certainly help with shipping. I have bought and sold vehicles and motorbikes in other platforms.
    • Only payment accepted is wire transfer or ACH. Payment must clear my bank before the 997 can be released to you, or if out of state, to your chosen shipping company. If local, we can go to your bank together and draw a cashiers check and hand over the 997 then.
    • As a private seller, I will help you post-auction in any way I can, including finding storage if needed.

@Rlanning thanks for the questions. Re the paint meter readings, it was due to the unit of measure the tool was set on. The original photographs I submitted were in mm [millimeter] setting, which all read 0.1mm, which is equivalent to 4 mils. And from what I read, 4 mils is a common reading for a 997 original paint. A 12 or 13 mil reading may likely result due to repainted panels, assuming 'mil' was the unit of measure you referenced. Just this evening I took a set of paint meter readings of the 997's front fenders, hood and gas filler cap inside the garage, and they all read 4 mils. I have uploaded the photograph and hopefully pcarmarket adds this photo along with the rest I have requested, by Monday morning.

Re your questions on the clutch and steering gear replacement performed by The Collection, I have no insight, though my guess is that it was likely a warranty type of service. The Collection in FL appears to be an authorized dealer, performing sales and service of multiple luxury brand automobiles, including Porsche. Then on Dec 2020 as you likely saw also on the Carfax, The Collection serviced the 997 at 7k miles, checking the various components listed on the Carfax, including the clutch, and all appear to have checked Ok. In my experience of driving several different 997.1s/2s, this example with no performance modifications, exhibits the most responsive engine, tight handling, and precise clutch, likely due to the low 9k mileage on the engine, and even less on the clutch. Hope all this info is helpful.

Could you please explain the paint readings. I usually see the readings in the range of 4.—— or sometimes 12or 13. Thanks

  • Rlanning (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Do you have any insight on why the clutch and steering gear was replaced along with a 4 wheel alignment at only 4,674 miles? Thanks

  • cesx415 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Rlanning I'm not sure why, I have uploaded them in the gallery. My guess is it's the weekend.
@pcarmarket please help and advise when the convertible top photos can be uploaded, as well as the remaining paint readings. thank you.

@pcarmarket Please upload the six close up photos of the convertible top I uploaded today?

  • cesx415 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@pcarmarket Please upload the rest of the paint meter readings?

All, I couldn't get a paint meter reading on the bumper due to the full PPF. It would be consistent with all the readings of the car. I can have it remove it to get the reading but at the moment prefer not to as in my opinion the PPF is more valuable to have on.

@jjducksfan the wind deflector and paint meter readings are now in the gallery. thanks again for the great questions. And you're absolutely right re: the 997 S cab, a manual in white/beige combo. Ironically, this is exactly the kind of car I would want after I am done with my air-cooled experience.

Thanks to @9146max and @DMBuyer for the bids.

@cesx415 Thanks and very valid...Sounds like you know the history, and it hasn't been tracked. I am fine without it. Low miles and owners and in very good shape is fine by me...Appreciate your quick responses...White Cab S. Doesn't get much better....I have a great garage spot for it....Will see

  • cesx415 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

my apologies, but just a clarification to my comment just now. "at only 9k miles before my ownership, " should be "at only 7k miles before my ownership" I have owned her since Nov 2021 and took ownership at 7,238 miles to be exact. A fool for selling so quickly, I know, but alas, I got bit by the air-cooled bug. And having another modern car, I can use the funds so she is the one that has to go.

  • cesx415 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

jjducksfan you're very welcome. And thank you for the reminder re: wind deflector. I do have it and will provide photo within the next day as I just need to get it from my storage. I never used it and completely forgot about it. Re: paint meter readings, I just bought the tool and once it arrives, hopefully before the weekend, I hope to have readings uploaded. I have no doubt the paint is all original. Lastly re: DME, in my humble opinion, given only one original owner since new for this 997 S and at only 9k miles before my ownership, it was a non-issue for me when I was considering it back in Nov 2021. My logic was that the original long-term owner, who likely had warranty, would not have abused her in the 9k mile / over a decade of original ownership. 2nd, it is less likely that a Cabriolet owner would thrash her. In my search for a 997, I drove several 997.1/2s and a even a 3.6. This example drove the best in my experience. Her 3.8 engine is extremely responsive, and handling very tight. DME reports for Turbos for sure are critical, and perhaps Coupes, but at only 9k miles and this example as a Cab, it was not and has not been a concern for me. I hope this helps, but please contact me via contact seller button should you want to discuss about getting a DME. As a private seller, I will do what I can to help.

  • jjducksfan (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Should have asked all questions together sorry...do you have a paint meter report, dme and is the wind deflector with the vehicle?

  • jjducksfan (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

    @cesx415 Thanks....Appreciate it. Great spec.

  • cesx415 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@jjducksfan yes this 2007 model has the stronger double-row IMS bearing. As a side for reference, a good read can be found on this topic below on rennlist, and I've copied and paste notable section re affected models:
    https://rennlist.com/how-tos/a/porsche-997-why-the-ims-bearing-issue-is-overblown-383755

    "Which Models Were Affected?
The IMS bearing issue is a carryover issue from the 996 model. The earlier non-Carrera S 997 models had the same basic engine as the 996, hence, the same issues.

Most late 2005 and early 2006 997 models are included and, as mentioned earlier, a very small percentage of those cars were affected. But if there is doubt in your mind, most experts completely rule out any IMS bearing failure on 2007 and newer 997 models, as some engine components were updated and no incidents have been reported so far."

  • jjducksfan (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

IMS on this one? Does it have newer ones?

@Garfield she really is a beauty. Other than the aforementioned scuff at the bottom of the bumper on the driver side there is no paint cracking. The "crack" might be the "line" you see, where there is some overlap from the 2 piece bumper kit [see photo 150 of the ppf diagram]. I have photographed both the passenger side [photo 149] and driver side [where you can see the scuff]. The black lower front spoiler is just a flexible add-on made by EZ-Lip. To me it helps protect further the bumper but if buyer doesn't like it I can have it removed. It's easy.

@pcarmarket please upload to the auction, the total 3 photos I just uploaded to the shared folder. Looks like the driver side is the one that still needs to be uploaded. Thank you.

Question - Nice car, what's going on with the front spoiler on the passenger side lower left and there is also some paint cracking on the drivers side lower right?

  • cesx415 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Hello everyone and welcome to my first ever listing on pcarmarket. First, my thanks to the pcarmarket team for a great seller setup experience. Up for auction here is my 2007 Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet in one of the most desirable color combination, Carrara white with sand beige leather. She purrs with her 3.8 motor and prances with her 6 speed manual, hydraulic steering, rear wheel drive. With this combo, the 997.1 S is in my opinion what Porsche envisioned how the modern 911 should handle and feel, and as a cab, delivers an even more exhilarating experience. And at only approx 9k miles, the motor is very responsive and handling very tight.

I'll be here for any questions. For now, I just ordered a paint meter tool and will be uploading readings shortly. Thank you for reading and interest.
