Under the care of its seller since 2021, this example is now being offered for auction out of Massachusetts with just under 47k miles on the odometer.

This Carrera comes finished in Carrara White with a contrasting Cocoa-colored cabriolet roof. Equipment includes the Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package and 19” Carrera 5-spoke wheels mounted with Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 2 tires installed in July of 2021. The seller reports a minor scuff on the driver’s side rear bumperette, a small area of the driver’s side taillight is missing, and slight signs of road wear are present. The seller notes the climate control buttons have been replaced due to fading, and signs of wear are present. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

A naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 325 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission, allowing acceleration from 0-60 MPH in approximately 5 seconds. A maintenance record in 2021 includes a battery replacement, an oil and filter change, a cabin air filter change, a brake fluid change, and tire installation. The seller adds that an oil and filter change and replacement to two window regulators have been carried out since. Detailed records are provided in the CARFAX report.

This sale will include a clean title (lien).

Regarding the convertible top renovation: A good detailer uses 2 different brushes to revive the top. The brushes are like horse brush bristles. Just had my 1998 m3 top done 9/22 and it was revitalized

Hi all. As we come to the close of the auction I wanted to let potenial bidders know that I am happy to work with you for transporting the 997 if you are not planning on collecting it in person. I can recommend a fantastic shipping agent whom I and numerous folks I know have used dozens of times with very good results, and I will be sure to coordinate with pick-up.

  • eatonr53 (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@kecantona Dyeing canvas not a great idea . It makes it hard and stiff
So you either live with it or replace it

  • kecantona (seller) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@eatonr53 you are exactly right. You can see the crease lines in the pics which lends further evidence to it being the original top. I believe the top can be dyed if one would like to make it look new again.

  • eatonr53 (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@kecantona It looks typical of many of the tops where they start to show crease lines from being folded

@eatonr53 Hi - the top is original as far as I can tell but it is tight and secure. It operates without issue and has no tears, stitching defects etc. It is also cocoa brown - I know it can be hard to tell in the photos as it looks almost black on a cloudy day.

Although today in Boston was not ideal weather for motoring about in a convertible, it did emphasize how great a platform the 997 is, especially with the 6 speed manual gearbox. Hopefully the video will be up soon but the car handles very well with great suspension feel, throttle response, shifting and final era for the 911 hydraulic power steering.

All the features work as desired: great heat and AC with no funny smells or fan noises. The heated seats were welcome in the sub-freezing weather. The top works exactly as it should and is tight without excessive wind noise, just as designed. There are no faded buttons or switches and all interior and exterior lights work properly. It comes with the wind deflector for behind the front seats, both keys, and a full set of manuals. Having Apple Car Play/Android Auto is a nice upgrade, but the original PCM head unit is included should you desire it.

    Thank you for clicking over.

    All,

I have uploaded a cold start video from this morning at a balmy 28F, along with a driving video. Hopefully these will be in the gallery by tomorrow (Mon) morning.

@manuals4ever thank you for the kind words. Yes the cocoa brown is a great color - it is really what sealed the deal for my wife on this 997. It works well with the white exterior especially, although personally I am very much a black car person.

  • kecantona (seller) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@NHPorscheguy Hi again. It turns out that the marks are in fact from tape and it has discolored the leather in that location on the passenger side rear seat (see pic 53). This area will be fixed by dyeing the affected area prior to pick-up by the buyer: the shop has ordered the cocoa brown dye and the repair will be done this coming week.

I have uploaded several pics of the underside of the vehicle also. You can see some scrapes on the front underside. You can also see that there are no leaks and that all underbody panels are present, including all fasteners. There is no rust at all. I keep forgetting to do a cold start video, and when I remember it is after I have already started the car. I will do that this evening.

I'm a big fan of the cocoa interiors on 997's. They just have such a rich feel vs the std black
or Savana beige (which I have on my 997.1 C4S) @kecantona I've spent a few afternoons at the Larz Anderson eyeballing many tasty cars. Great location and event center.
    GLWTA!

  • kecantona (seller) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@NHPorscheguy Hi - I will do a driving video today or tomorrow at the latest and post it. Those marks are stains which I had not noticed as I had not driven the car with the top down for a while. I believe these are from tape which was used to secure some cardboard in the rear window when the regulator on that side stopped working - I will work on getting these marks removed.

  • NHPorscheguy (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

Those pictures remind me of all the great times I've had at the Lawn events at Larz. It is a special place. Will you be doing any pictures of the underside of the car or a driving video? Would love to get an idea of the condition of the suspension and also see if there are any leaks. Also, can you clarify what is going on with those marks on the rear passenger seat? Is it a stain of some sort or is that wear and tear (hard to believe for the back seat of a 911). Thanks.

  • kecantona (seller) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@kfee - thanks for checking in. Larz Anderson Auto Museum is one of my favorite places - you may have noticed the license plate frame also. I'm a trustee there and it is also where my wife and I had our wedding.

The 997 fortunately has spent its life in the Hamptons and then Florida until we got it last year. It has been garaged since we brought it up here to MA and barring these photos in the drizzle last week it has been a fair weather vehicle. There is no rust at all on the car.

  • kfee (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

Hello, Do you have any relation to the Larz Anderson Auto Museum? It fits the car perfectly.Did you get your hands on the history on the owner (s)? Did it have to survive the New England winter or did it stay in the garage? Thank you in advance!

  • kecantona (seller) 1 year, 11 monthsago

Hello all and thank you for your interest. I plan to be as engaged as possible on here so please feel free to ask any questions and I will answer as quickly as I can. Thanks.
