Currently being auctioned is this nicely presented 2007 997 Carrera 4S.  This coupe has traveled 69k miles since new.  The extremely rare, all-original Slate Gray paint is contrasted by a Sand Beige leather interior.  The seller states that this C4S is in excellent turn-key condition and ready to be enjoyed by the next owner.

Power is delivered by a 3.8L flat six producing a healthy 355hp with a 6-speed manual transmission.  This otherwise factory-stock example has been upgraded with a Fabspeed Performance Exhaust and ECA 82mm Competition Plenum/Throttle Body. These performance upgrades work harmoniously with the normally aspirated motor and are most enjoyable when the sport setting is activated (via the Sport Chrono Package Plus option).

Nicely spec’d when ordered new, this Carrera 4S had an original MSRP of $104,440 and included: self-dimming mirrors, heated front seats, colored wheel crests, sport chrono pkg plus, navigation for PCM, Bose high end sound pkg, power seat pkg, full leather, sport shifter, painted rear center console and Porsche crest in front headrest. The build sheet is shown in the gallery.

The full leather interior is stated to be in excellent condition with well below average wear and tear for its age and mileage. The seller states a minor pixel distortion located on the climate control screen. The car was clearly well cared for throughout its life and the seller states the vehicle was never smoked in.

The vehicle is reported to be in excellent mechanical condition. The brake linings and tread depths exceed 5MM as reported in the Porsche multi-point inspection report located in the photo gallery. This vehicle has been meticulously maintained by and serviced at a local Porsche dealership since 2012. Detailed owner records are included in the sale.

The 997 is the second generation of the water cooled 911 and is said by many to be the last of the analog Porsche sports cars.  The size and sporty nature of the 997 has placed the car in a very special place in Porsche history.  The 4S shares larger displacement engine along with larger brakes, red calipers, and a lower ride height with the Carrera S model, however, it also has Porsche’s famous AWD system and wider rear quarter panels giving it a strong muscular look.

The car comes with a clean CarFax, original books, and 2 sets of keys as well as summer Nokian performance tires and Pirelli winter tires.

@AutoQuechee thanks for your questions. I’ve never tracked or autox’ed the car. I do not have a DME report to share but I do have a recent inspection report from a Porsche service center that I can send if you contact me directly. This report was completed at 66,073 miles and reported the following

    Brake lining measurements: LF - 8mm, RF -8mm, LR 7mm, RR 7mm
    Tire tread measurements: LF - 6mm, RF - 6mm, LR 6mm, RR 6mm

The battery is around 6 months old and the car passed all 24 inspection criteria except for the horn, which I replaced.

I'm surprised no one has brought up the usual questions:

    - Has the car ever been on a race track (DE, time trial, etc)?
    - Has the car ever been autoX'ed?
    - And I hate to ask, but any DME over rev reports to share?

In a nutshell, has the car had an easy life, or has it been driven 'as intended'?

    Thank you.

@AutoQuechee I drive the car year round, including the winter season.

  • AutoQuechee (registered bidder) 5 years, 8 monthsago

By the virtue that it comes with snow tires, could you comment on its usage in the winter?

    Thank you.

@jp912 thanks for your questions. The original intake is included in the sale but not the original exhaust system. Yes, it will pass emissions. I replaced the clutch, slave cylinder and RMS in November 2016. I’m not aware of any issues with the the IMS or water pump. This car has been professionally maintained by a local Porsche dealer for the past 7 years and is mechanically sound. Thanks for your interest.

Are all of the smog pieces there? Will it pass an emissions test? Do you have the original parts?

How about clutch, IMS or water pump?

    Thank you-JP

@Moose Thanks for your question. I was bumped from behind in gridlock traffic last year. No damage, replacement, or paintwork. Just bad luck! A police officer recorded the incident, explaining why it surfaced on the Carfax report.

  • Moose 5 years, 8 monthsago

Can you describe what happened in the accident reported on the Carfax? Where was the damage? What was replaced?
