Finished in GT Silver Metallic over Cocoa Special Leather, this 2007 Porsche 997 Carrera 4S Coupe features a 6-speed manual transmission and a comprehensively rebuilt naturally aspirated engine enlarged to 4.2 liters with forged internals, a knife-edged crankshaft, upgraded IMS bearing, and high-performance oiling improvements. Factory options include Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), the Sport Chrono Package Plus, Adaptive Sport Seats, the Bose High-End Sound Package, extensive deviated interior stitching, and more. Additional modifications consist of LED exterior lighting, a GT3-style rear decklid with carbon fiber spoiler, 19” Forgeline wheels, an Auto-Blip Intelligent Downshifts module, a DSC Sport PASM controller, and Fabspeed exhaust components. This custom 997 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Kansas.

As an all-wheel-drive model, the Carrera 4S features wider bodywork than a standard 997 Carrera. This example is finished in GT Silver Metallic and features an optional rear window wiper and yellow ceramic brake calipers. Modifications include a genuine 991 front spoiler lip, LED daytime running lights, LED side markers, Morimoto XB LED taillights, and a carbon fiber-reinforced plastic GT3-style rear deck lid incorporating a ducktail spoiler and a full carbon fiber wing. Additionally, 19” Forgeline GA1R lightweight alloy wheels have been mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires measuring 255/35ZR19 and 315/30ZR19 front and rear. Clear paint protection film has been placed ahead of the rear fender arches, and very minor paint chips are noted. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, the driver is greeted with Cocoa Special Leather, matching floor mats, and deviated stitching along the seats, dashboard, doors, center console, and rear side panel, as well as a contrasting Alcantara roof liner. Options also include Adaptive Sport Seats, a leather-wrapped three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, the Bose High-End Sound Package, a 6-disc remote CD changer, Navigation for PCM, a fire extinguisher, a Sport Chrono stopwatch dial, and metal door sills with model insignia. Modifications consist of an Auto-Blip Intelligent Downshifts module, a DSC Sport PASM controller, and a Rennline magnetic phone mount. Minor wear is noted on the driver’s seat bolsters and on both sides of the center console, near the seatbelt latches. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are confirmed to be in proper working order.

The original naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six has been professionally rebuilt by Vision Motorsports with displacement increased to 4.2 liters and equipped with their custom track package, which includes high-performance Chromoly steel cylinder liners, a knife-edged and nitrided crankshaft, forged CP-Carrillo rods and bolts, JE forged pistons, an upgraded IMS bearing, improved oil delivery with an upgraded oil cooler, larger fuel injectors, an IPD plenum paired with a Porsche GT3 throttle body, and a genuine Porsche center radiator. The engine was dyno-tuned by Protomotive and Vision Motorsport, and fitted with all-new belts and hoses. Power is delivered to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transaxle. Factory performance options consist of Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) and the Sport Chrono Package Plus, while Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and Porsche Stability Management (PSM) are equipped as standard. Fabspeed sport headers with a competition X-pipe and stainless-steel mufflers are installed, and a catalytic converter will be included with the sale.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a window sticker, a toolkit, a car cover, a battery charger, the factory wheels with tires, the factory rear decklid, and a Fabspeed catalytic converter.

The seller would like you to know: Thank you for visiting my auction. I have owned this beautiful 997 for about 4 years and have truly enjoyed the car. This is a driver's car and it is ready to be driven. This car rewards the senses for both driver and passenger, especially on winding two-line highways and scenic byways.”

@simoncsays Not able to say with 100% confidence, but the auction does include Cat pipes, which are a bolt-in option I purchased with the full Fabspeed performance exhaust. They have never been used, but it is my understanding these should make the car California compliant.

Does this car pass California smog/emissions?

  • 9974.2 (seller) 1 day, 17 hoursago

@PORCOR Yes, trailered the car out and back.

  • PORCOR (registered bidder) 1 day, 17 hoursago

Did you send the car to California for the motor rebuild? Drove or shipped?

  • 9974.2 (seller) 1 day, 18 hoursago

One of the nice details on this car that would be easy to miss is the AutoBlip Intelligent Downshift module, which is fully adjustable to the drivers preference or driving conditions. If you are not familiar with it, this device blips the throttle automatically during braking and downshifting, which brings the revs up to better match the revs required for the new lower gear. This helps in two significant ways: (1) it eliminates the need for heel/toe throttle blipping, and (2) it helps keep the car balanced at the important entry-phase of a corner.

I am curious to see what the take is on this car. I have a similar 997S built to 4.0 liters and mine is a blast! In my opinion this combination is a very capable midweight chassis with a perfect amount of power. Best of luck Seller. Buyer, you will be getting an amazing ride for certain.

thank you. still interested in speaking offline as well as knowing more about your PPI and the possibility of seeing the car prior to auction end.

  • 9974.2 (seller) 2 days, 21 hoursago

@minimalist I am not sure why that label is there. The mileage on the odometer is accurate, and was 88550 at the time the photos were taken. It has been driven less than 100 miles since then. The engine has about 2000 miles on the new build.

  • minimalist (registered bidder) 3 days, 4 hoursago

can you speak to the label of TMU? are chassis miles accurate on the odometer and it is the motor rebuild you are referring to?

  • 9974.2 (seller) 3 days, 11 hoursago

@bphillyer Thanks for the very kind feedback. Yes, with all the mods, I've always tried to keep Senna's quote in the back of my mind: “When you are in the car, you are so focused, you are so concentrated, you don’t think about anything else. You are just driving, you are just feeling the car, you are feeling the track, you are feeling the tires, the brakes, the engine, everything is working together.”

  • bphillyer (registered bidder) 3 days, 12 hoursago

    Beauty.

Good job with mods. Looks like your true interest is in improving the car, as opposed to a blind search forspeed. At least to. me, you’ve done your research.

Great wheels, too -19” Forgeline GA1R lightweight alloys. My 2010 997.2 GT3 has the same!

Ditto with the EXCELLENT DSC Sport PASM controller, which makes a huge difference.

    GLWTA!

@02silverbullet Yes, only about 2K miles with the new engine. No track miles. All open road miles. We get it out on weekends for 1-2 hour drives in eastern Kansas, and over the past few years we've taken 500+ mile road trips in it with others to drive the twisty Pig Tail Scenic Byway and other fun driving routes through northern Arkansas, southern Missouri. But I have other cars and other projects. Besides, I enjoy working on cars almost as much as love driving them.

  • 02silverbullet (registered bidder) 3 days, 13 hoursago

Looks like the new engine only has ~ 2k miles on it … Why has it been used so sparingly? How many of those are track miles?

  • 9974.2 (seller) 3 days, 14 hoursago

@luis.seneriz Yeah, Todd at Protomotive is awesome. I included the dyno chart in the photos. It is worth noting that it is a record of wheel HP and torque, so flywheel HP and torque is going to be and estimate. The best estimate I have is 400 - 425 HP and 350 - 375 ft-lbs of torque.

Definitely like the car. protomotive in Arkansas is awesome, Tod is tha man. Any idea on horsepower and torque? Thanks.

  • 9974.2 (seller) 3 days, 15 hoursago

One additional item that wasn't noted in the description above, but some of you may have picked up on in the photos, is the super lightweight Antigravity Lithium battery. It has their built-in jump start capability called RESTART, and it also has the optional remote monitoring capability and a Lithium-battery specific charger.

  • 9974.2 (seller) 3 days, 15 hoursago

@minimalist Thanks. Well, given the upcoming holiday weekend, I already have an appointment for tomorrow morning to have a PPI performed, and I will post that report as soon as I can.

  • minimalist (registered bidder) 3 days, 16 hoursago

Hello. Nice color spec. Is there some way to contact you directly? Are you open to a PPI at my expense prior to auction close? Thank you, David

  • 9974.2 (seller) 3 days, 18 hoursago

@PORCOR The best I can say is that it I recall seeing it run up between 4 and 5 at higher RPM. But it is not something I recall being too focused on to say for sure. You also asked about a deeper sump, and I discussed this and other devices, such as an Accusump, with the guys building my engine. If I were planning on tracking it, I would have gone with the Accusump over the deeper sump. But I wasn't really planning on tracking it, and haven't ever tracked it.

  • PORCOR (registered bidder) 3 days, 18 hoursago

I trust you. From memory do you have an estimate of high pressure?

  • 9974.2 (seller) 3 days, 18 hoursago

@PORCOR As you know, the pressure changes with RPM. So, I will try to make a short video in the next day or two showing the oil pressure gauge with varying RPMs.

  • PORCOR (registered bidder) 3 days, 18 hoursago

I am not positive but i thought the porsche gauges recently are PSI with readings of 10-50 psi. On another Porsche the 10-50 gauge reads considerably lower than the digital gauge. But , what reading does it show at higher rpm's when warm. I see the engine people did work on the oil pump so am curious as to the higher rpm readings. They did not suggest a deeper oil sump on the build?

  • 9974.2 (seller) 3 days, 19 hoursago

@Hindley-Milner You're right. However, I suspect if it is PSI then the numbers 1-5 must represent 10 to 50 PSI.

  • Hindley-Milner 3 days, 19 hoursago

@9974.2 I certainly hope, for all owners’ sakes, that it is bar, as a gauge going from 1 to 5 psi would be very useless indeed.

  • 9974.2 (seller) 3 days, 19 hoursago

@PORCOR Side note -- I actually don't recall ever looking into whether the oil gauge displays in PSI or Bar. I guess I've always thought of it as Bar, but it may actually be PSI.

  • 9974.2 (seller) 3 days, 19 hoursago

@PORCOR Regarding your question about the oil. The pressure reading at idle in that photo is just under 2 bar, which is normal at idle with a warm engine. I am currently running Mobil 1 Racing Oil 0w-50 Full Synthetic.

  • 9974.2 (seller) 3 days, 20 hoursago

@PORCOR Great question. No, the brakes are not close to the minimum thickness. PCCB rotors are designed to be 34/28 front/rear from the factory, with a design for 0.5 mm of maximum wear, so 33.5/27.5 front/rear. However, the min thicknesses etched on these rotors are 33.7/27.7 front/rear, which may just be Porsche's way of communicating additional safety margin. Regardless, currently the rotors are measuring close to 34.1/28.1, which means they still have well over half their designed life remaining.

  • PORCOR (registered bidder) 3 days, 20 hoursago

Am i correct in assuming that the brake discs are close to reaching min. thickness specs? Can't see the tach when you are showing the oil pressure. Was it 20 lbs at idle or? What oil and viscosity are you running? Really neat car and GLWTA
