Coinciding with the official introduction of the G-Class to the U.S. market, the G55 AMG was launched as the range-topping W463 model in 2001 and gained the “Kompressor” badge in 2005 with a supercharger added to its 5.4-liter V8 engine. This 2007 example is finished in Iridium Silver Metallic over Black leather upholstery. It features a 5-speed automatic transmission paired with a dual-range transfer case, triple locking differentials, a G63 front end conversion, a roof rack and ladder, 18” AMG wheels with 33” tires, later-style mirrors, running boards, heated and power-adjustable seats, a heated wood-trimmed steering wheel, illuminated AMG door sills, dual-zone automatic climate control, a Harman/Kardon sound system, and COMAND with navigation. Sold new in Canada and imported to the U.S. by the current owner in 2021, this G55 AMG is now being offered for auction out of Wisconsin with approximately 146k miles showing on the odometer.

Finished in Iridium Silver Metallic (775U), the exterior has been modified with a G63 front-end conversion. It features running boards, fender flares, a black front brush guard, side-exit AMG exhaust pipes, later-style mirrors, a Gobi roof rack and ladder, mud flaps, sequential turn signals, an electric sunroof, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a rear window wiper, rear parking sensors, ceramic window tint, and a rear-mounted spare tire carrier. The truck rides on 18” AMG wheels finished in grey and silver with 33”x12.5” Atturo Trail Blade M/T tires from 2020. Apart from a small rust spot on the left rear quarter, the seller states the exterior has an excellent overall appearance. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is appointed with Designo Black Nappa leather upholstery complemented by grey stitching and burl wood veneers. Amenities include heated and 10-way power-adjustable front seats with memory, a heated wood and leather-trimmed steering wheel, a power steering column, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, illuminated AMG door sills, an AMG-branded instrument cluster, a Harman/Kardon sound system, and COMAND with navigation. The seller indicates the analog speedometer is labeled in kilometers, and the lower passenger seat cushion heater is currently inoperable.

Hand-built by AMG, the supercharged 5.4-liter M113 V8 engine was factory-rated at 469 HP and 516 lb-ft of torque. All four wheels are driven through a 5-speed automatic transmission with a dual-range transfer case and triple electromechanical locking differentials. Service completed within the last two months included resealing the front axles and lower oil pan. The seller adds that a G550 suspension has been installed, and notes that some oil seepage has been identified at the valve cover gaskets.

This sale will include a spare tire, two keys and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “You won't find a better-looking G-Wagon for the money!”

@tyroneattheraces To address your questions, one by one:
I suspect there may have been a typo on PCAR's behalf. This vehicle was acquired by the current owner from an online enthusiast auction in the spring of 2021. If you look up the VIN, you can see the listing from the car being listed in Canada in 2020, and then the listing from 2021 when my client purchased the vehicle (after the appearance modifications were done).

The vehicle entered my client's collection, where it only saw occasional use. The vehicle has only added 4,000 miles under current ownership. They have an in-house mechanic that services their fleet, which is why there are no service records during that time. As discussed below, we don't see evidence that the motor mounts are sagging - the engines left the factory tipped to the right. As far as the valve covers go, my technician team noted minor seepage at the passenger side cover - an image is attached. I would not feel good about advising a client to reseal them at this stage, as I feel that the seepage is a nonissue at this time.

The rear main is not leaking. Seat heaters work other than the passenger bottom cushion. Heat is toasty, A/C gets uncomfortably cold.

The spare tire appears to be the factory original, on a rim of a slightly different design. Photos are included. I do not have the hard cover for the spare tire, nor do I have any suspension components that have been removed from the vehicle over the years.

You can view a video of the headliner here: https://youtu.be/PhxPg0zRGxI It is starting to show its age.

Driving video is now live. The suspension feels and sounds great - no squeaks, knocks, or rattles. Feels solid as heck.

I've uploaded a few additional photos of the body areas you asked for. Not seeing any prior paint work on either. There is a bit of corrosion starting below that right side marker light, and the windshield frame appears to be free of any corrosion other than the occasional spot from a rock chip.

Let me know if you have any other questions! Happy to help!

    @Edelweiss_Autowerks

“...imported to the U.S. by the current owner in 2021”

Is this correct? The car was sold in Canada in May 2020 at 140k miles to a dealer in the US and reported to the DMV in SC a month later. It was then sold again in 2021 and then registered in Wisconsin during 2022. Mabe just be the description by PCar Market has not been proofed before going live but would be good to understand what the true story is.

Also from the Carfax, the vehicle lists no servicing between 2020 and present day (the last entry for July From Apex Auto looks like a service but it is a detailing shop). Are there any receipts between these dates for maintenance and oil changes? Sagging motor mounts and leaking valve covers pretty common things on these and I would have expected a mechanic to pick up on them and rectify.

Can you confirm the RMS is not leaking?

Do all the seat heaters work (driver, passenger)?

Is the heater working as it should and the AC blowing ice cold?

You mention a spare tire. Is this the same brand and size as the ones fitted to the wheels on the car and is it fitted to the spare wheel under the cover (and is that spare wheel an AMG five spoke finished in the same color as the others)?

Does the original equipment hard shell rear wheel cover come with the vehicle (even though it won’t fit those AT tires)? Guessing that’s why it has a bag instead?

Do you have the original equipment G55 suspension springs?

I think the headlining is sagging in a few places from the photos, is this the case?

In the absence of a driving videos, can you confirm or let us now of any untoward noises from the engine/transmission, any bangs/knocking/squeaks from the suspension when driving?

On the subject of paint, and I know you have some decent readings and also that these things do rust. Can you take a look at the rear quarter on the right, under the light. From the image that looks like it has had paint there (picture 72). Are there any other places like this that you can see (maybe the windshield bottom)? So hard to see on silver in the photos.

Apologies for dumping the questions with 5 hours to go, I only saw the listing this morning.

@Jet2jeff2 good evening! I'd like to put the motor mount debate to bed. I have included exterior shots of both motor mounts, pictures from our borescope that shows a uniform distance in the bottom gap of the motor mount, a photo of what the motor mount looks like from our parts supplier, and a photo from another listing on PCAR Market for a similar G-Wagon, demonstrating the engine lean. I would be happy to replace motor mounts at the buyer's expense, but (after a fair amount of research) I don't believe the motor mounts are a concern. As far as I can tell, the vehicle does not have hydraulic motor mounts - Corteco, the OEM Manufacturer of these components, notes on their data sheet that these are solid.

I apologize that the borescope photos aren't pulitzer-quality - it's a bit difficult to get a good picture of a dark, rubbery void.

  • Jet2jeff2 (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 4 daysago

The angle that the engine is setting in the engine bay is obviously sagging down which will cause rotating wear problems if not straightened imho. I did have a MB450SE that had sagging hydraulic engine mounts when I bought it. It had some damage from those worn out engine&trans mounts. If I was to buy this, would your company replace these at my expense?

@Autotrend after @kfine's comment and a little further digging, we have reached the conclusion that the motor mount is operating as designed. I'll post some close-up photos of both mounts shortly, when my drive-on rack frees up.

  • Autotrend (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 4 daysago

@Edelweiss_Autowerks will you be addressing the right motor mount prior to the new owner receiving the truck?

  • kfine (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 4 daysago

The M113 and M113K in the G does normally lean right. This is not necessarily an indication of a failed mount.

  • Edelweiss_Autowerks (seller) 2 weeks, 5 daysago

@Jet2jeff2 I was at the shop a little bit ago and was able to grab some underside photos; they have been uploaded. It's clean underneath!

My technician and I took at look at the motor mount situation, and we agree with your assessment that the right motor mount is sagging a bit. Good eye!

I have admired these AMG G wagons but know very little about them.
This Engine seems to be sagging down on right rear side in the engine compartment picture. Does this have dynamic or hydraulic type engine mounts ( and this one is )failing?

@Mhfskibum48 the vehicle is absolutely street legal, and the emissions system does not appear to have been altered. You should have no issues driving it around AZ as it sits.

@Carguy74 I apologize for my tardiness in responding to your comment. The vehicle is slightly under 7 feet tall, to the top of the roof rack.

  • Carguy74 (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 2 daysago

Could you please tell us the overall height with the rack and those tires. Want to see if it clears garage door.
