A modern interpretation of the classic wood runabout, the Barnstormer is a custom one-off commission that was completed in 2006 by Granville Boat Works. The 30-foot speedboat is crafted from Philippine mahogany and features a pair of PCM Z56 producing 390 HP each. Accompanied by full build plans, documentation, and invoices, this custom wood boat is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Oklahoma with approximately 140 hours of operating time.
Designed by C.J. Jannace and built by Jack Rouse at Granville Boat Works., the Barnstormer is made entirely from Philippine mahogany and measures 30 feet long without the rear swim deck. It features a black-painted hull with removable gold vinyl accents, a 9.5' beam, black gunwales, and a varnished bow, stern, and transom swim deck which was added after the boat was initially built. Details include a modern non-soak bottom, decorative red striping, polished cleats and brightwork, a chrome-trimmed windscreen, a chrome dual trumpet horn, a rear flagpole holder, a folding swimming platform ladder, and gold “Barnstormer” lettering at the stern. The boat is accompanied by a full cover, a cockpit cover, and a modern aluminum tiple-axle trailer with hydraulic disc brakes.
The cabin features mahogany decking and custom tan vinyl and cloth seating for up to 8 passengers. Accessories include several storage compartments, a tilting wood-rimmed steering wheel, a GPS speedometer, a modern Bluetooth stereo, and separate chrome-trimmed gauges for each engine.
Power comes from a pair of PCM ZR6 motors which are based on 6.0-liter General Motors LS V8s and feature heavy-duty drives, three-blade bronze propellers, and a closed cooling system. With a combined output of 780 HP, the Barnstormer can cruise comfortably at 50 MPH according to the seller. The boat also features upgraded fuel and water filter systems as well as custom-fabricated stainless-steel rudders paired with electric power steering. The seller adds that the boat has been well-maintained and is fitted with high-end integrated battery tenders.
This sale will include a trailer, a full cover, a cockpit cover, a battery charger, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Barnstormer is an awesome modern built version of the classic mahogany boat, but she is faster and more user friendly, without all the classic wooden boat maintenance needs. As seen in the many pics and also the video, Barnstormer has been a trouble-free joy to own, but we have decided that it is time to move on from boating as a family, so I hope Barnstormer can find the right home for another family to enjoy.”

@nosubstitute4porsche Sorry, hope the phone call worked better, as I didn’t see your email
I messaged the seller about a specific question. I hope he gets my message before the final bell rings..
@240zGuild This boat would cost well over 500k to build today, and most boats of this style by Hacker and Grand Craft are not of those beam width, with those smaller regular built cookie cutter boats being in the $400-500k range and a couple year wait.
@Jet2jeff2 It is for sure, plenty of power out do the hole to get to plane, while also being the smoothest boat I have owned.
The boat is registered with the US Coast Guard which has a 10k pound minimum requirement, but I suspect the boat doesn’t quite weigh that, but she is a heavy girl with the 9.5ft beam that will easily hold 8 people for dinner runs.
Just watched the cruising video. What a boat!
Sierra Hotel!!
@Jet2jeff2 Barnstormer is an enlarged twin engine version of a Hugh Saint design, which is a very similar design to a 27ft Hugh Saint “Triple Cockpit” Sheerliner I previously owned, and his designs are known to be smooth riding and nimble.
@Jet2jeff2 It is a pretty flat rounded hull overall, which also allows the boat to maneuver on a dime.
@Jet2jeff2 I would have to dig out the plans again, but should be in the plans pictured in the gallery if they can be enlarged. Let me look.
Do you know the degree of dead rise in the hull?
@Jet2jeff2 About 10k pounds according to the US Coast Guard Registry, which is another factor as to why this boat is so smooth riding.
How much does the boat weigh?

Ok guys, I have had a couple questions about the trailer. It is a 2006 Classic aluminum boat trailer, with DiscSurge Brakes, leaf spring triple axle, with the additional cost of Stainless Hardware when ordered, and a 2 5/16in receiver, so it is a really nice trailer that fits the boat nicely.
The tires and bearings are in great shape also.

@sportscarguy3 Thanks, it is easily over a $500k and years of wait to build if taken on today, so this is the most economic and time saving way to step into an iconic styled and produced boat.
Man, that’s a good looking boat
If I had some money to burn, I’d buy this baby and take it up to Lake Tahoe
Good luck all

@Mrkbbd Has a depth finder, two 60 gallon fuel tanks, and a Bluetooth sound system with a very decent sound,
The boat is Coast Guard Titles/Registered, and is rated at 10k pounds, and this boat handles rougher water unbelievably well, which an example can be seen in the videos provided.
It’s is by far the Smoothest and Most Capable vintage style mahogany boat I have owned, and I have had several very high end exotic mahogany boats from a Torpedo Flyer to a 33ft 27L Merlin V12 Gentleman’s Racer.
What is the weight of the boat and trailer? What is the fuel capacity? Are there any electronics in the boat (GPS, depth finder, etc)? What audio system is installed? How does it handle rough water? Thank you.

Guys. Here is a supplement to the boat description the length in the description says 30ft, which that is the boat minus the new custom mahogany swim deck, and the boat is a luxurious 9.5ft beam width also.
Just want to make sure that I broke down the specifics, because some Lakes have an overall size restriction, and Barnstormer is a big girl.
Bid in the amount of $12,500
Guys, you will see that there are differences in the pics with the Champagne Sides and also with and without the custom made rear mahogany swim deck.
The champagne is a removable vinyl due to myself feeling the full black sides were a bit too much, but it pulls right off if you preferred the full black.
The custom and mahogany swim deck and stainless steel mount brackets were built and the end of this season, and basically no expense was spared there as I wanted it to look as it was made for the boat.
Please feel free to let me know if you need any specific details or have questions, but this type of boat epitomizes Class and Fun, so don’t miss out on the opportunity to own such a stand out piece to use on your local waters.
