Assembled by TR-Tec of South Africa in 2007, this Backdraft Racing RT3 Roadster is finished in black over gray leather upholstery and features a Roush 402R V8 paired with a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. It also features a Holley carburetor, MSD ignition, CNC-ported aluminum cylinder heads, power-assisted disc brakes, BMW E36-sourced independent suspension, rack & pinion steering, 17” Hallibrand-style wheels, racing harnesses, and a custom Bluetooth sound system. Acquired by the selling dealer in February 2024, this Roush-powered RT3 Roadster is now being offered for auction out of Oregon with approximately 6k miles showing on the odometer.
Modeled after the legendary Shelby Cobra, the Backdraft Racing RT3 Roadster features lightweight fiberglass bodywork over a powder-coated steel frame. This example is finished in black with silver racing stripes and is equipped with polished bumperettes, a polished roll hoop, a polished Le Mans-style fuel filler cap, a hood scoop, fender vents, side exit exhaust pipes, red brake calipers, dual Raydot-style mirrors, and wind wings. It rides on 17” Hallibrand-style wheels with safety-wired three-eared knockoffs and Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cockpit is appointed with gray leather upholstery including fixed bucket seats with matching Crow Enterprizes racing harnesses. Other accessories include a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel, tinted sun visors, a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror, VDO instrument dials, embroidered carpet floor mats, and a Rockford Fosgate Bluetooth head unit paired with a Boss amplifier.
Producing an estimated output of 518 HP and 500 lb.-ft of torque, the Roush 402R V8 is based on an iron two-bolt Ford Racing Sportsman block. It features 10:1 forged pistons, H-beam connecting rods, a forged steel crankshaft, CNC-ported aluminum cylinder heads, hydraulic roller lifters, a double roller timing set, an Edelbrock intake manifold, a Holley carburetor, MSD ignition, an aluminum radiator, and dual electric cooling fans. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec T56 6-speed manual transmission with an SFI-rated steel bell housing and a limited-slip differential. The chassis includes a four-wheel independent suspension sourced from a BMW E36 as well as four-wheel disc brakes with ross-drilled rotors. The starter and battery were replaced in 2024 along with carburetor components, the transmission’s 5th gear, and carbon fiber synchronizer rings.
This sale will include the manufacturer’s literature, service records, and a clean Florida title for a 1965 “ROAS”.

For anyone wondering, I am able to help arrange shipping. As a frequent shipper of vehicles both nationally and internationally, we have established relationships with drivers that allow us to offer competitive rates without any broker fees. On other auction sites like BringATrailer, I'm known as the guy to help others save on average 40% compared to what the auction site charges for shipping.
✅ TIP FOR NEW BIDDERS:
As it gets close to the end of the auction make sure that you have a credit card registered so that you can bid and also make sure you are logged in. I’ve had a few bidders miss out at the last second and their bid didn’t go through because they weren’t logged in.
FYI, new members to PCarMarket, there is no need to let the clock run down to the last second. Unlike bid sniping on eBay, the time will keep resetting in the last 2min to another 2min and 15sec until that last bid runs out with the highest bid.
Either way, good luck bidders. I always really appreciate all the interest in our vehicles. I’m sure it’s gonna find a great home whoever that may be.

This Backdraft Racing Cobra stands apart from typical kit cars. Built by seasoned professionals with extensive experience in Cobra replicas, it offers quality and precision that only a factory-assembled vehicle can deliver. Under the hood, the ROUSH 402R engine is both ‘hot tested’ and dyno tested to ensure the impressive power and reliability you’d expect. If you’re looking for a top-tier Cobra that blends iconic style with serious performance, this one checks all the boxes.

@BigGuyLittleCar Not sure if you seen my earlier reply, but here it is;
"I made a video for a previous BDR RT3 Cobra I sold, showcasing my 6’5″ brother getting measured and sitting in the Cobra to demonstrate that it’s comfortable even for taller guys.
Check it out: https://youtu.be/wMqG-xJfytc
In my opinion, you don’t need a dropped floor. I wear size 13 shoes and right now the peddles sit very nice compared to your heal resting on the floor. However, if someone wanted to do that on an RT3, the undercarriage photos in the gallery show that the floor is quite open between the frames. It would simply involve modifying the floor, installing a dropped pan, and carpeting that area."
Noticed you all missed out on the some of the previous Cobra’s that recently got away. Thought you all might be interested in checking this one out. Make sure to watch the video for an up close look.

@altanri I didn’t receive a cockpit cover when I purchased the car, but I would imagine Backdraft Racing offers them as an accessory. Alternatively, an upholstery shop could easily make one using the existing snap pins, which should be a fairly inexpensive option.
Is there a cover for the cockpit, I can see the snap pins? If there is can you include a picture or a note where one can get one.
Thank you

@sportscarguy3 @sportscarguy3 Yes, it didn’t meet reserve last time around, which gave me the perfect excuse to enjoy it a bit more and take it to some local shows. Sometimes timing isn’t on your side with auctions, but no worries—I’m in no rush!
After all, patience is key in this hobby, especially when you’re confident in what you’re selling. I’m more patient than Warren Buffet on the good ones. 😄

This Backdraft is also eligible for shipping to Canada, as it qualifies under the 15+ year rule. I recently sold another BDR Cobra that was over 15 years old, and the buyer successfully used tfxinternational.com to handle the cross-border transport into Canada.
@Kharris399 Thanks for the interest.
Titled as a 1965 ROAS CV.
Based on feedback and experiences shared by California residents to whom I’ve previously sold Cobras, those who have successfully registered their Cobras have told me that they registered it like any other car when it was titled as a 1965. Some choose to go the SB100 route and have had good luck hiring AAA to handle the process. Additionally, I have a friend who works for Backdraft in California and offers his services for a fee to take care of all the paperwork if you encounter any issues.
Feel free to reach out privately if you’d like to discuss this further or if you need a shipping quote. I just need your ZIP code.
Bid in the amount of $20,500
What does the title list the car as? Wondering how difficult California registration will be. Thanks!

Beautiful Cobra - I have been looking at the big and tall / RT4…How does this compare without the drop foot - etc. AND is that something that can be done aftermarket without huge expense/headache? Thanks - appreciate the insight!
@RDM7533 Many people know or have seen me sell many and I hardly have to look anymore. Appreciate the bid. 🏆

Where do you find all of these great cars? I know, trade secret. I am bidding, but not expecting to win. GLWTA.
