Equipped with a Yamaha-built V8 engine, this first-generation 2006 Volvo XC90 is a yachting-inspired Ocean Race Edition built to celebrate the second Ocean Race sponsored by Volvo in 2005. Designated as #294/800 examples produced in total, it comes finished in Ocean Blue Metallic and was also optioned with the Climate Package, Convenience Package, and Bi-Xenon headlamps for an original sticker price of over $53k. It had been leased by a Volvo dealership up until 2008 and was sold to new owners the following year who kept the car up until 2023. Showing approximately 166k miles on the odometer, this limited-edition V8-powered XC90 is now being offered for auction at no reserve by its seller out of Connecticut.
The special Ocean Blue Metallic paint is accented by Electric Silver side body moldings and rear skid plate, polished aluminum roof rails, color-coordinated mirror caps and door handles, and Volvo Ocean Race (VOR) emblems on the front doors. It rides on unique 18” Atlantis polished wheels dressed in Sumitomo HTR A/S P03 tires. Some minor chips and scratches are present, and the seller states the exterior has been ceramic-coated. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The VOR edition features unique linear wood inlays and stitched taupe leather upholstery with cloth seat inserts. Other special equipment includes a leather gearshift knob, floormats with blue piping, VOR interior sill plates, and a premium Dolby Pro Logic II sound system. This XC90 was also optioned with the Climate Package which adds heated front seats and headlamp washers as well as the Convenience Package which adds rear park assist and power-retractable mirrors. Other equipment includes dual-zone automatic climate control with seat air vents, a power glass moonroof, and 8-way power front seats with position memory and lumbar support.
Developed by the Yamaha Motor Corporation for Volvo, the naturally aspirated B8444S V8 engine produces up to 311 HP and 325 lb.-ft of torque. All four wheels are driven by a Geartronic 6-speed automatic transmission with Adaptive Shift Logic and Winter Mode. The seller states routine oil changes have been carried out every 3k-5k miles and the most recent service includes new valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, and filters.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, the original window sticker, and some service documentation.

Hi Pcarmarket bidders and potential bidders. I will see which repair orders i can obtain from the customer. We just safety-checked the vehicle and found a small oil leak on the valve cover. We changed out the valve cover gaskets, upper and lower intake manifold gaskets, and spark plugs, brake pads are 9mm or about 75% good. This car drives great, and all mechanicals and electronics work as they should. I will post pictures and do a driving video and walk-around later today. To see the quality of the vehicles we have sold and our attention to detail, you can view our previous auctions on this site. if you want specific pictures we will be happy to provide them. Thanks.
