Finished in Cobalt Blue Metallic over a Black interior, this 2006 Porsche 987 Cayman S is factory-equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package, Preferred Package Plus, Power Seat Package, and Bose Surround Sound System. It has also been customized with LED exterior lights, Soul Performance exhaust tips, and an OEM Sport steering wheel. Acquired by the seller, its third owner, in 2023 with some notable service completed over the last two years, this Cayman S is now being offered for auction out of Colorado with approximately 41k miles showing on the odometer.
This Cayman S is finished in Cobalt Blue Metallic with optional bi-xenon headlamps and aftermarket LED side markers, taillights, and daytime running lights. Other equipment includes headlight washers, side air intakes, a speed-activated rear spoiler, dual Soul Performance exhaust tips, red brake calipers, and 18" Cayman S wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires from 2022. A set of aftermarket 18” OZ Racing Alleggerita HLT wheels in Matte Graphite grey with matching Porsche crest center caps is also included. The seller indicates there has been no track use and the car has been hand-washed, polished, and waxed during their ownership. Clear paint protection film is applied on the rear fenders near the air intakes, some minor curb rash is noted on one of the wheels, and several small paint chips have been touched up on the hood and front bumper. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.
The Black interior features optional heated and power-operated seats, auto-dimming mirrors, automatic climate control, cruise control, a CD stereo, and a Bose Surround Sound System. An OEM three-spoke Sport steering wheel has been installed and the headliner in the cargo area has been replaced. The seller notes minimal signs of wear on the driver’s seat cushion and shifter, and the rear privacy shade no longer clips into place.
Rated at 295 HP and 251 lb.-ft of torque, the naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine delivers power to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The seller indicates all recommended services have been completed including new spark plugs in late 2022, an air/oil separator in 2023, and new front brake pads and rotors in 2024. A Blackstone oil lab analysis from the last oil change indicates good engine health.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, an air pump, a battery charger, an additional set of wheels, the original exterior lights and steering wheel, a sunshade, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This is the 3rd model of this generation I have owned. I previously had a Black 07 Cayman S and then a same color Cobalt Blue Metallic, 06 911 Carrera S. There were no issues with either after I sold privately, and I recently heard the 911 is doing well in Florida. They have all been a pleasure to drive. I would say I have enjoyed this Cayman the best in my short ownership and that it has the least wear and tear, comparatively. I'm just ready to try a 911 so I can drive with my two younger sons in the back :) Happy to answer any questions!”

If I were in the market for one of these again the seller’s familiarity with the maintenance needs would speak very loudly to me.

@JuanDNA Not to my knowledge, although you could consider the 2 year/20,000 mile brake flush, and new engine and cabin filter if you want to follow the exact guidelines, as these were last performed about 2 years ago. The brake fluid looks clean to me (I'll add a picture), but I don't have a way to check the moisture content before the end of the auction - happy to look after though and get a brake flush performed if it is high. The engine filter was clean when I replaced the AOS end of last year and I'm happy to replace the cabin filter if it needs it (I doubt it). The only other thought would be to clean or replace the throttle body at some point, but it is idling well and throttle response seems good to me, so I haven't done it. I did clean the MAF sensor for the heck of it when I replaced the AOS. Other recent maintenance includes:
1. New plugs and clean scope (no bore scoring as per the email from Porsche Tulsa - included in the pics) in 2022
2. New Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires same time with decent tread remaining (see pics of remaining tread: 7/32nds remaining all around).
3. Oil change and filter, new front pads and rotors, and transmission fluid swap (no issues shifting, just thought it wise to change as the vehicle is approaching 20 years old) with Fahrenheit motors 11/23.
Thanks!!
Is there any service that the car may need any time soon?
Less than 24 hours to go. I'm excited to see where we end up and to hopefully find a new home for my Cayman S! Auction ends 1 pm MT, I've held my schedule so hopefully should be around to help answer questions at the end.
Hello everyone and any new potential bidders, just over 2 days remaining on the auction of my 2006 Cayman S. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any additional questions or requests. Thanks! - Sam

@sclinch1 Thanks for this update and information. I'm sure we all appreciate your responsiveness.
@dmk13 The Carfax has been updated! I think the only new addition is having the tires balanced after putting the OEM wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S back on and fixing a door pivot lever that broke (the plastic snaps and the door handle sticks out on the inside of the vehicle - happened on my 997 as well). It has been fixed. See my previous response regarding the old CO emissions test. Thanks!
@dmk13 Thank you!! The state inspection/emissions report is only required every two years here in CO or at purchase. I only included this to point at that it did pass when I had it done not too long after buying the vehicle Spring 2023. It wouldn't be due again until 2025 here in CO - no reason to repeat it in my mind. Exhaust remains stock outside the tips - it will pass in CA, CO, or anywhere else with emissions testing.
As for the Carfax, this is provided by PCarmarket - I reached out to them about 6 months ago about potentially listing as I was hunting for my next Porsche, but decided to hold off at the time. I imagine they must have used the Carfax they pulled at the time. I'll message them to update it. Thank you!
Well-presented car!
I notice that the attached Carfax report is 6 months old, and state inspection more than a year old. Are updated versions of these documents available?
Thank you.

Hi all, I added a few extra pics - close ups of the Cobalt Blue Metallic paint, a sunshade for the front window, and my newest addition and reason for the sale - a 2010 Meteor Gray Metallic 997.2 with PDK. I'm really going to miss the manual, but the PDK and 3.8L in the 911 is pretty impressive - I have a car seat on order to take my son for rides :). Enjoy and happy bidding on the Cayman!

I received some good questions about the engine and seats. This has the M97 engine with the single/stronger IMS bearing. Failure rate is much lower than the older double row IMS - maybe 1%. I added a pic of the engine number in the gallery. And the seats are 12 way adjustable and heated + memory function. I added some pics with close-ups of the bolstering (minor wear IMO). The seats are definitely more comfortable than the standard manual sport seats I had on my first 987. The passenger seat has a Bluetooth FM transmitter sitting in it for reference (included with sale and works pretty well honestly for playing music off my iPhone - you just Google/pick a station that isn't being used in your area and it broadcasts).

I also wanted to add some clarification to the privacy shade. The headliner was sagging in the trunk and I had a local upholstery shop fix this. It looks great now, but they must not have reset the trim/molding just right as I can't seem to get the shade to set back into the two holes that you screw the tabs into. I've tried pushing the trim in, but it doesn't budge. I had them redo the repair one time as the fabric was pulled/had wrinkles in it and the trim was rattling more. I think they added some insulation the 2nd time and this may be pushing the molding out some. With that said, everything is solid now and there are no rattles. I'm sure you could remove the trim and reset things to get the shade to pop back in if desired.
Additional photos of the Alleggerita wheels and Porsche caps added to the gallery. A bunch of the plastic tabs on the back of the caps broke off putting them on/taking them back off, but I'm sure they would go back on without issue and still fit snugly - hence the reason for breaking some tabs, :).

@Hotwheeljohn thanks! Good question - the pics with the Alleggeritas and snow tires are from this past winter. We scrapped the snow tires when putting the OEMs back on this Spring as the rear snow tires really only had enough tread for one season and there was uneven wear from the previous owner (I bought them used). I will add some pics of the Alleggeritas without the tires and the Porsche caps. There is a bit of curb rash that could be refinished I think on one of the Alleggeritas - I'll add a pic of this as well. No curb rash on any of the OEM wheels.
Here are the specs on the Alleggeritas:
Rears - 10j 18 ET40
Fronts - 8.5j 18 ET53
Looks great, with the spare wheels, are there no tires? See pics of car with extra wheels, look like a snow tire installed?
Hello all and happy bidding! I'm looking forward to my first auction and will do my best to answer any questions. This is a great 987.1 example and the third of this generation I have owned. These are just phenomenal driver's cars and this one is in fantastic condition. I would keep it if I had the garage space. I just purchased a 997.2 today so my sons can tag along on drives.
