The second-generation Porsche Boxster (987) was introduced for the 2005 model year featuring an all-new design that reflected the contemporary 997 Carrera. This 2006 example is a Boxster S finished in Carmon Red Metallic over a Sand Beige interior and powered by a 3.2-liter flat-six engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. It was also optioned with heated seats, the Bose Surround Sound System, self-dimming mirrors, and bi-xenon headlamps as part of the Preferred Package. This Boxster S has been meticulously cared for by the current owner with extensive service performed over the last two years as well as upgrades including an IPD intake plenum, a larger throttle body, Bilstein B6 struts, a Top Speed cat-back exhaust, a Joe Toth rear spoiler, a touchscreen head unit, and more. This 987 is now being offered for auction out of Virginia while showing under 72k miles on the odometer.
This 987 is finished in the uncommon color of Carmon Red Metallic and features a black convertible top, red brake calipers, silver side air intake grilles, bi-xenon headlamps, polished dual exhaust tips, aftermarket LED taillights, and a body-colored Joe Toth rear spoiler. It rides on factory 18” Boxster S "Lobster Claw" wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps and Bridgestone Potenza tires measuring 235/40 in front and 265/40 in the rear. The car recently underwent a paint correction followed by an application of a 5-year ceramic coating. The seller adds that the paint is original, and the car was never subjected to track use or autocross events. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The Sand Beige interior includes the optional Preferred Package which adds heated seats, auto-dimming mirrors, and the Bose Surround Sound System. An aftermarket touchscreen head unit was installed under previous ownership and features Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity. The car was also serviced with a rebuilt convertible top mechanism, new front and rear hood struts, and a recharged air conditioning system. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.
This Boxster S is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.2-liter flat-six engine rated at 280 HP and 236 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 6-speed manual transmission and stopping power comes from fixed 4-piston brakes and cross-drilled discs at each corner. The engine was upgraded with a larger 74mm OEM throttle body, an IPD intake plenum, and a Top Speed cat-back exhaust under current ownership. Service items completed within the last 15k miles and 20 months include the replacement of the air/oil separator, battery, alternator, brakes, and oil as well as the installation of a lifetime air filter and new Bilstein B6 struts.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, the original window sticker, service records, and a clean title.

I have a set of 19" OEM 981 Boxster S wheels as well. They are 19 x 8 and 19 x 9.5. I'm willing to swap those (new owner selects and pays for tires of their choice) for the 18" Lobsters currently on the car. New photo added to the gallery.
@Purple.helos Thanks for your response.
Good morning. The DOT date codes on the tires are older (late 13 front, and early 16 rears). That said, they are still sticky and have lots of tread (the car was stored in a climate controlled garage and was rarely driven. I considered putting on new rubber, but for summer these are still great. And, but since I'm selling, decided to let new owner have the choice. I also have a nice set of OEM 19" 981 S wheels if the winner wants to discuss putting new rubber on them. Happy to coordinate new tires with the winner.
No rips, tears on the top. It was also coated when the ceramic coating was applied a couple weeks ago. I do not have a receipt for water pump replacement. I was just under the car for an oil change and can attest that there are no leaks or seepage.
Only thing it will need to drive 1,000+ miles is fuel!
Hi Purple.helos, Was the water pump replaced? What is the DOT production date on the tires? Any wear, tears, or cuts on the top? Is there anything that would prevent the car making a 1,000-mile trip? Thanks.
I do not have the wind guard, never missed it personally.
Looks like missing the wind guard? Do you have that?

@Tripin6 no body work, paint or other body repairs (aside from paint mat hing the Joe Toth). I will add paint meeter photos later this weekend.
Have not bore scoped. Scoring is not a significant issue on the 3.2.

Other than the mentioned paint correction and ceramic coating, has there been any body or paint work done to the car?
Also has the engine been scoped for bore scoring?
@gwistrup Yes I have the OEM rear spoiler, intake, and throttle body. I do not have the original stereo or exhaust.
Do you have any of the stock original parts?
@Phantomboy Great observation, but I have not had it dyno'd. Without an Evoms or Softronic tune, I would estimate 295-300 crank HP.
Has the car been Dyno’d? The 280HP figure appears to be the stock Boxster S HP. With the IPD Plenum, larger throttle body and the Top Speed exhaust, I would imagine a higher horsepower number. Any guess?

@groach and "thank you"
@groach Yes, they are 18"
Listing states 17” wheels but I believe they are 18”. Beautiful car!
@Purple.helos I love driving the Boxster, just don't have the room to keep it (last in, first out).
@jgkrislaw I've had the car a year. Purchased it while my '79 911 SC was out of commission following a VIR trip. Needed a manual to drive while I did a full rebuild.
The SC is ready to get back on the road and I have too many in the stable.
@purple.helos How long have you owned the car?
@Abuong01 I am in VA, but dud not make the Amelia event.
Curious - I recall seeing one just like this with VA tags, did you have this car at Amelia Island this past March. It was gorgeous, like this one.
This is a fantastic driving Boxster S, that sounds great and is a rare, gorgeous color combination. Enthusiast owned and maintained.
