Introduced in 2004 as the successor to the Porsche 986 Boxster, the 987 offered enhanced performance and handling abilities along with a host of revised styling elements including new headlights, a more sculpted body, and an updated interior. This 2006 example presents a Carmon Red Metallic finish over Sand Beige upholstery and has been extensively customized with gold-finished aftermarket wheels and intake grilles, color-changing Demon Eye headlights, & more. It is now being offered by its seller out of California while showing approximately 63k miles on the odometer.
This example is said to have been professionally refinished in its factory-specified color of Carmon Red Metallic and fitted with a new black convertible top. The seller adds that Demon Eye color-changing headlights have been fitted along with LED side markers, gold-finished intake slats, a gold-finished "Boxster" designation, and a “Fine Wine” decal on the rear spoiler. A set of two-tone gold and silver-finished 18" aftermarket wheels are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires from 2020. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin features Sand Beige partial leather upholstery along with heated seats and a Porsche wind-stop. Modifications include gold-finished interior door handles & an alligator-embossed leather center console. The seller notes that parts of the interior have been refurbished, the seats show some wear, and the floor mats are recommended for replacement. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.
The 987 equips a mid-mounted 2.7-liter flat-fix engine that generates as much as 245 HP and 201 lb.-ft of torque stock. Mated to a 5-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission that drives the rear wheels, the sprint from 0 to 60 MPH is accomplished in approximately 6.5 seconds. The seller states the car received a complete engine-out service and the rear brakes occasionally squeal at high temperatures. A host of documentation is said to accompany the sale.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a build sheet, and documentation.
The seller would like you to know: “This is a special, beautifully, tastefully restored and modified vehicle that has been very well cared for. Upgraded with a Pioneer Stereo with Bluetooth and new Kenwood speakers. This 2006 Porsche Boxster is classy and ageless. She turns heads and gets attention wherever she goes.”

@Jappychan Hi, The car needed paint when I bought it. It had been sold and acquired at auction. It is very common for auto auctions to give an older car a cheap 1 step paint job before sending it to auction. I wanted to give this car a great NEW profesional paint job. I did just that after all the mechanical work was completed. That's the proper order of events for a thorough restoration. This car completely solid mechanically and bodily. She drives like a dream. Check out the videos! She is a rock star among her generation!

@grunt1ed Hi , Yes it is a Triptonic transmission. It is the predisessor to the PDK.. I am surprised by the similarities. Both become sort of "trained " by how you drive and the transmission and engine adjusts to accommodate your driving style. It is amazing. When you require performance, she will give you all she can. This car has never let me down.
Hello! Can you clarify your comment about the transmission? You mentioned a Sport PDK, but just wanted to confirm that it's indeed a tiptronic.

@Old986mi Hi and thank you for your questions. I am happy to settle any concerns you may have.
1. Your concerns of gaps in the panels: This car has a clean record. I ask that you view picture #71 of the car in paint. This car was professionally repainted in it's original color. You can see in photo that the car panels were separated from the car to assure the seams were painted for fluidity throughout for the best, most professional final results. The car panels were then reassembled. I personally do not see any imperfections in the panels and the paint is spectacular. 2. I MS Bearing: Please refer to picture #88. The IMS bearing issue of previous years had been resolved by Porsche for 2006 models and newer. This is a 2006 Porsche Boxster. It is clear the IMS bearing issue that plagued its predecessors. Everything in this car works perfectly, AC, roof, EVERYTHING! I have made certain of it. The cup holder needs replacing. This is a common very minor issue. I have the part. I would replace the passenger side window foam seal piece. Very minor. I have that part. I have another spare set of front running lights.
This car has the typical gas shut off sensor issue. You can spend $ to replace the sensor or do like most people do: Hold the gas nozzle pointing to the side when you pump gas to get the sensor to detect the tank is full and shut the nozzle off.
That's everything there is to know about this Boxster. One will be hard pressed to find another 987 in better condition. I take pride in making certain of that. I know that I have yet to see I nicer or better 987!!! She continues to turn heads and get compliments. She is a very special Boxster.
Can you comment on the fit and gaps on the body panels? The gap on the trunk lid spoiler is not even and even looks to be not in line with the surrounding body panels. Even the Frunk Lid seems a bit uneven with the fenders and front clip. If the engine was removed, why not do the IMS and/or run any/all checks for signs of it going (metal in the oil or an oil analysis)? Does the A/C still blow cold? Are there any items that currently do not function? Window switches, drop down feature, locks, the top motor, switches and other HVAC controls all working correctly?

@svshrader1966 SO much love & dedication. It's amazing how much goes into restoring and modifying a vehicle to as close to new or better condition.
This is a very Special Boxster.
Thank you for noticing,
Valerie
OMG ! That's one SWEET Boxster. I just bought my first Porsche, a 2004 Boxster S 6-speed manual trans. I can see the love that was put into and for that Boxster.
Hi,
Thank you for viewing my Beautiful Boxster. I bought this Porsche six years ago knowing that I was going to restore and modify her to the status she deserves. I fell in love with the stunning lines on this 987 era Boxster that reflect a respect for the original Roadster that was the inspiration for the Boxster. The car color draws attention to the lines.
This Boxster has been professionally sanded down to bare metal and repainted (No factory Orange Peel, high gloss finish) in the original color; Carmon Red Metallic, named after a town in Spain known for it's Wine Making. Thus, "Fine Wine" on the spoiler that pops up automatically at 75 mph.
This car is an absolute DREAM to drive. As intended; this car is a perfect marriage of Sport and Luxury. The Boxster Base has a more comfortable suspension than the S model with minimal loss in exceleration. Add the Sport PDK transmission (with Paddle Shifts), that provides perfect gear shifting a human cannot match and that minimal loss is regained without risk of blowing the engine and burning the clutch. The engine winds as high as 6-7K RPMs when she knows you demand performance. Also, when you are not pushing performance, the Sport PDK makes commuting enjoyable and in style. Listen to the motor and exhaust in the video. This Boxster embodies the Flat 6 Naturally Aspirated sound that is a Porsche enthusiast's addiction. It HAS to have THAT sound! Give me THAT sound or I am NOT interested.
This car has been lovingly restored, respectfully modified and maintained with no skimping. The new owner of this masterpiece is a very fortunate individual. Feel free to reach out to me, as I am more than thrilled to brag about all that has gone into the perfection of this spectacular Porsche Boxster.
I know; "Then why am I selling it?"
I HAVE to hear that Flat 6 ICE. I can NOT go electric. I bought one of the last of the FLat 6 ICE Porsche 718 Spyders while still available. I do not have room for both Porsches. This Boxster needs to go to someone who will give her the undivided love & attention she deserves.
Happy Motoring!
