The car also features the optional Sport Chrono Package as well as a 6-speed manual transmission connecting the driver to a 3.8-liter flat-six engine. Currently residing with its owner in Texas where it was recently serviced by an authorized Porsche dealer, this 997 Carrera S is now being offered for auction showing approximately 37k miles on the odometer.
Finished in Guards Red with a black cabriolet top, this 997 features an added rear spoiler and black stone guard decals as well as factory red brake calipers and 19” Carrera S wheels. Clear paint protection film has been applied over the forward portion of the nose, and the Hankook tires are said to have been mounted about two years ago. The seller adds that the car has been collector and enthusiast-owned while always garage-kept and covered during their custodianship. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The black interior includes optional Adaptive Sport Seats as well as a factory exclusive Sport Shifter and the BOSE High-End Sound Package. Other optional features include self-dimming mirrors, heated front seats, a Sport Chrono stopwatch dial, and a navigation module for PCM. Some common signs of wear are present on the climate control panel.
The naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six engine produces up to 355 HP and 295 lb.-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The seller states a 40k-mile service has been completed and the CARFAX report shows a history of maintenance including recommended service at Porsche of Plano in February of 2022.
This sale will include a set of two keys, owner's manuals, a car cover, additional floormats, and a clean title.

I'm curious how the tires were installed 2 years ago when the date codes indicate 2016 & 2017 manufacture dates. Is the top in good shape? Picture 42 looks like it may be torn. FYI. This Dec 2005 production date vehicle is of the age when IMS problems were present. Doesn't mean this one has any issues but it does fall into that category.

@Txporsche I'm in North Dallas as well. rrendl10 at g mail.
Sorry to mention this, but I think anyone concerned about the IMS issue should do their own research - the IMS 'issue' went from small bearing to big bearing to no bearing based on model year and vin #. 2006 still had an IMS bearing. It has a very small probability of failure but the issue was not 'solved'.

I would like to see the car today if possible.
I am in the North Dallas area.
Thanks

@911SC2718S The dealer checked the VIN and did a thorough inspection of the car. I was told this car is not one that would be subject to the IMS issues like some earlier year models. Porsche had made corrections before this one was built.
Has this car received the IMS bearing update?

The car is available in Dallas, TX to be seen. When I click on the Carfax pages, it looks clear on this end. Try opening it on a laptop or computer if you can. LMK if you still can't see it clearly. Thanks.
