This 2006 Porsche 997 Carrera Cabriolet is finished in Black over a matching interior and features an optional Tiptronic S shiftable-automatic transmission connected to its flat-six engine. A lifelong California car, it was recently acquired by the current owner from a close friend and is now being offered for auction at no reserve with approximately 154k miles showing on the odometer.

A major evolution of its predecessor the 996, the Porsche 997 features styling by Grant Larson with a traditional 911 silhouette, classic round headlamps, dual exhaust outlets, and a speed-activated rear spoiler. This 2006 Carrera is finished in Black with a matching cabriolet top and grey powder-coated 18” Carrera 5-spoke wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The seller indicates a low-speed front-end collision was sustained in 2019 and the driver's side airbag was deployed. The car is said to have been repaired at a cost of approximately $8k with corresponding invoices available. The passenger side has also been touched up with an airbrush to address a key scratch. Other imperfections include two notable door dings, areas of missing clear coat on the hood, and signs of repair work on the rear bumper. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a full CARFAX report.

The black standard leather interior includes manually adjustable seats and a three-spoke black leather steering wheel as well as Porsche Communication Management (PCM), automatic climate control, power heated side mirrors, and a central locking system. The seller notes some signs of wear are present on the driver’s seat and states that all gauges and accessories are working properly apart from the rear windows.

A naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 325 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH takes place in approximately 5 seconds while stopping power comes from fixed 4-piston brakes and cross-drilled discs at each corner. The seller states recent service includes new rear brake pads installed and an oil change. Additionally, the CARFAX report shows early maintenance history through an authorized Porsche dealer.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know:  "This is a nice driving but tired 997 that has not been babied and treated like a typical Porsche. It will make a great driver for someone who can do their own mechanicals or have a good relationship with an independent shop."

@Trollin86 Thx , helluva road trip , maybe a fluid flush all round , radio upgrade for the trip as it has 2005 dinosaur technology , could maybe drive via Phoenix and get the rear windows rebuilt not sure on their turnaround time , with 154k impossible to tell what else might be needed !

Great driver's 997. I am on the east coast & love a road trip. I'd want to get the rear windows operational before leaving CA. What other work would the car benefit from before seeing a 2,500 mile blast cross-country? Is that a nail in the driver's rear (LR) tire on the very inner part of the tire in picture 119?
Best of luck with the auction.

This 997 won’t win any races or shows but it will give its new owner endless hours of fun entertainment , great candidate for a crazy wrap

Recent work included powder coating the wheels , 2 new rear Michelin super sports , replaced rear brake pads and new battery everything else appears in good serviceable condition apart from drivers interior door handle is worn from use and key can be removed from ignition whilst running but both work fine

The invoice is now posted , a South African ( drive on the right ) visitor looked the wrong way at his first intersection and pulled out into an oncoming car , sorry no pix of the accident . The front bumper cover is scraped underneath from the driveway see underside pix
The key scratch has been repaired as per the close up passenger pix posted but can be seen in certain light on the top of the front fender , I will try to take a pic also I’m available for face time video if needed

Write up states 2019 incident and driver's side airbag deployed, with $8k repair. Could you post the corresponding invoices showing replacement of airbag and repair (plus any photos)? Also, some close up photos of scratch along passenger side?
    Thanks!

Is there an issue with the back windows not closing? Pictures seem to suggest that. Thanks

To the best of my knowledge the IMS is original , certainly it hasn’t been replaced since 2016 , unless it was done prior but the listed servicing dealer went through a buy/sell so records now only go back 3 years , there are no tell tale leaks or noises , the engine number is M96/05/69603639 which indicates a later bearing according to my research

Repaired key scratch extends from the top of the front fender through the door to the rear fender , it was a driveway repair rather than a bodyshop , very angry girlfriend !

  • WGris (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

Beautiful car, Seller. Two quick questions. Has the IMS bearing been addressed? Does the key scratch on the passenger side run most of the length of the car?
Thanks for the reply and GLWTA!
