Now available for auction is this 2006 BMW E46 M3 Coupe finished in Carbon Black Metallic over a black leather interior. Representing the third generation of BMWs high-performance 3-Series model, the E46 remains one of the most celebrated M3s of all time. This final-year example was ordered with the Competition Package (ZCP), an option that equips cross-drilled brake rotors derived from the European-market M3 CSL, 19-inch forged alloy wheels, a specially tuned suspension, and an Alcantara-trimmed interior. This M3 comes finished in Carbon Black Metallic and is said to have been under the previous ownership of BMW dealership employees and active BMWCCA members. Previously listed on PCARMARKET, this M3 has since undergone critical services of the “Big 3”, consisting of new rod bearings, subframe reinforcements, and a rebuilt VANOS system. This E46 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York while showing approximately 125k miles on the odometer.

This Carbon Black Metallic (416) M3 can be differentiated from a standard E46 Coupe by its wider fender flares, side air vents, revised front bumper, mirrors, rear valence, and M-Power quad-tip exhaust. The car is said to have been recently treated to a full exterior detail and paint correction. The seller notes some road-going wear on the front bumper and fenders, as well as scratches on the rear passenger side of the roof, and on the rear passenger quarter panel. The CARFAX report shows minor damage to the rear of the car in 2011, and another minor incident at the right front end in 2016. Detailed images are available in the gallery along with the full CARFAX report.  This M3 wears its original Competition Package 19” forged BMW Style 127 wheels, which come dressed in newer Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires.

The cabin is upholstered in black Nappa leather and features deeply bolstered 14-way powered M-Sport seats with matching door panels and carpeting. Competition Package exclusive Milled-Effect Aluminum trim lines the dashboard, center console, and door panels. The Competition Package also provides a thickened Alcantara-wrapped multi-function M-Sport steering wheel along with a matching handbrake lever and headliner. The seller notes some wear to the driver’s seat and confirms all gauges and accessories are working properly. Standard features include a glass sunroof, pop-out quarter windows, and a Harmon Kardon hi-fi sound system. The seller has replaced the original MK4 radio with a touchscreen Dynavin N7 Pro head unit featuring Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay capabilities.

The naturally aspirated 3.2-liter S54 inline-six makes up to 333 HP and 269 lb.-ft of torque, delivered to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The S54 utilizes motorsport-derived technology including individual throttle bodies, quasi-dry sump lubrication, and double VANOS variable valve timing. The Competition Package equips larger two-piece cross-drilled rotors, a quickened steering ratio, and an M Track Mode that raises the threshold in which the Dynamic Stability Control will intervene. Recent maintenance under the seller’s ownership included a coolant flush, oil change, oil level sensor replacement, new Koni yellow rear shocks, and new engine mounts. The seller states a rebuilt VANOS system was also recently installed along with upgraded VAC Motorsports rod bearings and subframe reinforcements.

This sale will include an original toolkit, a tire patch kit, and a clean title.

Additionally, I would like to highlight the bulk of maintenance completed this year. From suspension and bushing to completing the "Big 3" I have spent to the tune of $10k since January. This Carbon Black Bavarian Rocket is ready to roll for another 100,000 miles !

@Firewood the console in the picture is the same as the one in the car. It came in a spare parts box when I originally purchased the vehicle. You'll have a spare if you need it in the future.

  • Firewood (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Btw, a little confused re your saying the center console is unchanged and original to the car. In the pics of the included parts there is indeed an E46 center console. Not from this car? Thanks.

@siliev1991 No leaks of kind. Other than your normal road debris, the belly pan has some residual cosmoline or similar factory anti corrosive protection. Also to note the top end has already been resealed as well as the oil pan when the rod bearings were done.

  • siliev1991 (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Hello, just wondering what exactly is shown in pictures 147 amd 149? Are there any kind of leaks currently?

  • Firewood (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Center console is stock? Oh, thought it was replaced since you show a center console among the included spare parts.

@Firewood spare parts, missed that one. Those will be included. Misc bushings, trim pieces I've replaced, fluids, filters and such. The car cover will not be included unfortunately it's been a windy (snow free) winter here and the cover has gotten torn in a few places.

  • Carmeticmobile (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@Firewood Hi ?? and good morning,
The 19" wheels are the factory competition package wheels, with that said there is no rubbing. The center Consul is factory and unchanged. The only interior change that was made, is the Dynavin N7 PRO multimedia unit. The AC blows Cold without the need for recharge and the Heat blows nice and hot ?.

The Steering wheel in the competition package cars is quite unique. They're lauded for the single button operation of the traction control system, where you're able to fully defeat the traction control and enter Msport mode for track days and spirited driving. This is a factory comp option and the wheel does not come with volume or other related radio/phone controls. I hope that answers everything.

Thank you for the well wishes.

  • Firewood (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Forgot to ask... the M3 Competition steering wheel is cool. But having never owned an E46 M3 Comp, are the multifunction buttons of the base M3 steering wheel put somewhere else or just nixed outright?

  • Firewood (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Looks nice. Do you get any rubbing from the 19-inch wheels? For instance, when you have folks in the rear seats? I did on my M3 when I installed 19s.
Also, does the AC blow strong & cold?
Last, the pics show included parts & stuff, but the description does not say they're included? Btw, did you swap out the center console? Was the swapped-out one a different style?
    Thanks & glwta!

@KingP993 yes I have photos. I'll have them uploaded them shortly. Thanks for asking ??
