Regarded among the greatest supercars of all time, the Carrera GT first debuted as a concept car at the 2000 Paris Motor Show featuring a V10 engine carried over from a Le Mans prototype race car design. Production of the Carrera GT began in 2004 at Porsche’s Leipzig manufacturing facility and concluded in May 2006 after approximately 1,270 examples were built in total. This 2005 Porsche Carrera GT is one of 644 examples that were sold in the United States and comes finished in GT Silver Metallic over a Dark Grey with full leather XT bucket seats. It is one of two identical Carrera GTs that were purchased new by the owner from Champion Porsche, one of which was previously sold on PCARMARKET. Since the sale of the original car, this example was retained by the owner, who unfortunately passed away this summer. This Carrera GT has been garage-kept at the owner’s Florida residence where it was sparingly but consistently driven throughout the years. It is now being offered for auction while showing under 4k miles on the odometer.

Finished in GT Silver Metallic, the full carbon fiber bodywork is laid over an advanced carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) monocoque chassis constructed by ATR Group of Italy. It features a two-piece removable roof panel, large side air intakes, recessed door handles, an electronically actuated rear spoiler, and a carbon-fiber engine cover with NACA air ducts and dual silver mesh grilles. Yellow-painted brake calipers are mounted behind factory 19”/20” forged magnesium center-lock wheels. New tires were mounted in December 2022. The pre-purchase inspection from Champion Motorsports indicates the rear wing is not working properly, the lower passenger side rocker panel is scratched, some curb rash is present on the right rear wheel, and the door sill paint protection film shows signs of age. An open recall campaign (ANB4) has also been issued for retrofit caps on the headlights. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.

Upholstered in Dark Grey leather with magnesium, carbon fiber, and aluminum trim, the cabin features racing-style XT bucket seats with carbon-Kevlar shells as well as a laminated beechwood shift knob paying homage to the historic Porsche 917 race car. Factory equipment includes air conditioning, powered and heated side mirrors, and a Porsche Online Pro stereo. The three-spoke leather steering wheel is positioned ahead of a central 10k-RPM tachometer flanked by a 220 MPH speedometer and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, oil temperature, and oil pressure. The pre-purchase inspection from Champion Motorsports indicates the glovebox is broken, the passenger seat does not move, the umbrella door pockets are sticking, and a musty odor is present.

The Carrera GT’s engine was adapted from a secret project commissioned by the Footwork Formula One racing team in 1992. The high-revving 5.7-liter V10 generates over 600 HP and features Nikasil-coated cylinders, forged titanium connecting rods, forged pistons, dry-sump lubrication, and dual overhead camshafts with variable intake timing.  Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission with a special twin-plate Porsche Ceramic Composite Clutch (PCCC). The suspension includes unequal-length control arms with horizontally mounted pushrod-actuated shock absorbers and anti-roll bars. Stopping power is derived from Porsche’s Carbon fiber-reinforced Silicon Carbide (C/SiC) ceramic composite braking system with 15” SGL Carbon discs.  Porsche claims an official 0-62 MPH acceleration time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 205 MPH. A recent pre-purchase inspection was completed at Champion Motorsports and indicated the front hood struts are weak, some corrosion is present on the suspension, the left rear shock shows signs of leakage, and the rear shocks have cracked bump stops. Oil leaks were identified near the rear main seal and the clutch was measured at 29.88mm. An open recall campaign for the rear trailing arms (APA3) also recommends the car not be driven until the parts are replaced out of an abundance of caution.

This sale will include a clean title in the name of the seller's Deleware corporation. The seller notes the center lock tool is missing and the original Fix-a-Flat tire repair kit is expired.

The seller would like you to know: “Hello everyone and welcome to the auction for this 1-Owner Carrera GT. We are thrilled to be bringing this Porsche icon to PCARMARKET. Many CGTs have been passed around all over the globe through multiple owners. Due to the unfortunate passing of the original owner of the car, this one is being offered to the public for the very first time. There is a full PPI from Champion in the listing to offer a transparent and honest auction. Don’t miss this opportunity.”

@Pcarnut997 as a spectator of this auction I have to say. What’s wrong with you? If you read the thread you clearly see the integrity and transparency of the seller and that there were no flood issues. Asking a question is one thing. That was just so lame of a wise crack. Let the men handle this.

  • EUROsellinc (seller) 1 year, 2 monthsago

@Pcarnut997 absolutely not. Please feel free to ask questions, we are here to assist, we do ask to be constructive and not try to damage the auction. The car was sent to Champion for a full inspection, wouldn't that be something of serious concern that they would have notated? We do appreciate the interest and to clarify the answer is absolutely not,.

  • Pcarnut997 (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

So was the car flooded at some point in in life?

Delaware plates... Nice ...What the OG's did before the MT plate gold-rush.

  • EUROsellinc (seller) 1 year, 2 monthsago

@Strongbrew @Strongbrew Good catch on the tow hook! We did not even notice that. It appears that the photographer edited certain photos for the beauty aspect and left others so that the bidders can see it missing. Nonetheless, Champion said it was in the door pocket and is coming with the vehicle. They are sending us a photo over of it so we can add to the listing. The only service records we have are in the listing and we cannot promise any additional service that can't be verified, it would not be fair to the bidders. We have done our best to run a very transparent sale here and it is safe to say that this 1-Owner very nice GT is going to need to be brought up to date to the tune of the next caretaker's liking. Best of luck to all.

@Shane911 hello Shane, we kindly ask that the comments be 100% accurate. If this car you are speaking of is the 993 turbo, that car was from his NY home and is a completely different situation. This car has a full PPI from Champion and if there were any issues with the glass they would have been notated.

  • dal71 (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

@Shane911 Thanks for the information! Were you able to completely remove the musty smell? And what sort of repairs were you able to dig up?

I recently purchased a vehicle from this collection through this site that also had the musty smell. I was told accident free but was able to dig up substantial repairs done to the car and very little maintenance performed. Also enquire about the condition of the glass as my car has salt etched into every panel of glass and still trying to find someone who can buff it out. My car was stored in the same open air garage as this vehicle. No signs of water damage as kept on second floor. Good luck to all.

The bumper cap that covers the tow hook is missing in the first picture but seemingly replaced in the second picture. But I can not see an outline to the tow hook cap in the second picture. Has it been airbrushed? Does this have anything to do the bumper cover that was repaired at Champion?

Also, has this car ever been serviced? I do not see any regular service on the carfax.

@stim4u hello. due to the nature of the sale, the estate is not 100% certain if they have it so we have not listed it as included. There is a bright side however..... We have noticed in the past that some resellers/dealers have purposely left the luggage out of the sale to sell it for a profit, we can assure you that if the estate can locate it that it will be sent to the new owner of the vehicle, we just cannot promise that it will be found at this point. We will post an update if we locate it.

  • stim4u (registered bidder) 1 year, 3 monthsago

@rrgoo7 the car is still at Champion Motorsport, if you want to see it please use the contact seller button to make an appointment to see it, this should not be an issue. We would not recommend just showing up unannounced, remember they are not selling nor do they own the car, it was sent there for the inspection

@Imthedecidah Hi Folks, we ask that we keep the comments kind and respectful. This car lived on a second floor garage in Miami and has never been in any kind of water situation. The owner was an older man, he left the windows closed at all times which most can testify, if the car isn't being used very often can cause a musty odor. The car was deliberately sent to Champion Motorsport for a PPI prior to the auction so there should be a high level of peace of mind with this purchase. Everything that the car needs is outlined in the report. In addition, Ben from Motorsport would be glad to speak with anyone directly. The car is still there for the duration of the auction.
