Up for auction is one of the most iconic supercars of all time, the legendary Porsche Carrera GT. Equipped with a screaming V10 engine originally intended for use in a Le Mans prototype, the Carrera GT offers a visceral driving experience that is second-to-none. One of only 1,270 examples built for the entire world, this stunning 2005 model was acquired by the current owner in 2016 from Gold Coast Porsche of NY (formally known as Porsche of Roslyn). Having recently undergone a comprehensive mechanical service, this Carrera GT is now being offered for auction in excellent condition showing 7k miles on the odometer by it's seller in New York.
Finished in iconic GT Silver Metallic, this Carrera GT is said to hold its factory original paint. Additionally, the front clip remains under paint protective film which was applied when new, giving the next owner peace of mind. This example rides on its factory original 19-inch front and 20-inch rear 5-spoke alloy center-lock wheels which come wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. Offered in true collector-grade condition, this Carrera GT is not to be overlooked.
The interior of this Carrera GT is trimmed in soft Terracotta leather with full leather bucket seats. As standard, a nostalgic beechwood shift knob pays homage to the wooden knob seen on the early Porsche 917 during Le Man’s. This Carrera GT originally commanded an MSRP of $440,580 and comes optioned with a Porsche CD/radio and BOSE sound system. The interior remains in superb condition and all gauges, electronics and accessories are said to be fully functional.
Carrying a 600+ HP 5.7L V10 engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox with a twin-plate ceramic composite clutch, the Carrera GT is often referred to as the last true analog supercar. A road test carried out by Car and Driver in 2004 finds that the Carrera GT is capable of accelerating from 0-60mph in as little as 3.5 seconds while top speeds upwards of 205mph have been recorded. Large side air intakes help cool this massive power plant while a speed-actuated rear wing and 15-inch SGL carbon disc brakes keep things under control. Anyone who has driven one of these incredible machines can vouch for its ferocious performance and connected feel; this is truly a car every die-hard driving enthusiast ought to experience.
Having been regularly maintained by specialized technicians at Porsche of Roslyn since 2007, this Carrera GT stands in excellent mechanical order. A high-performance Tubi exhaust system has been installed (the original exhaust components will be included with the sale).
A major service of over $40k was recently performed on this GT including the replacement of the clutch and flywheel; a critical item to look for on these cars. Additionally, the entire car was completely looked over and all proper maintenance items were addressed. Images of the invoices for the recent work are available in the photo gallery and all maintenance records will be provided. This Carrera GT is confirmed to run and drive beautifully, waiting to be enjoyed by its next owner.
The sale of this Carrera GT includes the original books, tools, car cover, keys and a clean Carfax report. This vehicle is accompanied by a clear title and stands ready for prompt worldwide delivery to its next owner. This is an incredible opportunity to own one of the most iconic and recognizable supercars of all time.
