Marking the launch year for the 987 generation mid-engine sports car, this 2005 Porsche Boxster comes finished in Guards Red over Cocoa Special Leather upholstery and features a 5-speed manual transmission paired with its flat-six engine. The car also came from the factory with optional 18” Boxster S wheels, automatic climate control, and a Bose sound system. Garage-kept by its owner and serviced through a local Porsche dealership, this Boxster shows approximately 65k miles on the odometer and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of South Carolina.
The 987 generation shares its design language with the contemporary 997 Carrera and features larger side air intakes and wheel arches compared to its predecessor. This Boxster is finished in the traditional Porsche color of Guards Red with a retractable Cocoa soft top. It rides on factory optional 18” Boxster S wheels dressed in a set of two-year-old Sumitomo tires. The seller states that the paint has been treated with wax and remains in excellent condition apart from some minor imperfections including very small stone chips and a scratch beneath the passenger door handle. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is trimmed in Cocoa Special Leather upholstery and includes optional automatic climate control, Cocoa floor mats, and a Bose sound system as well as a cabin wind deflector (Windstop). The upholstery has been treated with leather conditioner and an aftermarket Kenwood head unit has been installed in the factory radio location including Apple CarPlay compatibility.
A naturally aspirated 2.7-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 240 HP and 199 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission. The seller reports all necessary service has been kept up to date by a Porsche dealership and states the improved IMS bearing is installed in the engine. Additionally, an oil sample was recently sent out for analysis and reflected proper engine health.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, and some documentation.

@Porschelover30 yes no problem.
@Ford50 would meeting in Charlotte be possible for handover?
Beautiful car. Engine numbers are not definitive and for a while both bearings were used. The good oil analysis is important however if buyer is worried he should just assign 2-3K to have it fixed. Personally I think it is the most overblown issue out there.
@BoogaLoo-King - the engine in this Porsche has the large ims bearing as confirmed by Porsche via the engine number. Also included in pictures are most recent good used oil sample results.
Any paperwork/documentation on the IMS?
@Toys1955 added a photo of the original
Porsche keys also for you.

@Raposa I’m going to get an ob2 in the next 1-2 days that can scan the DME over revs and confirm back
@Raposa - I’ll see if there is a way to get - what i I can tell you the car was owned by two older couples before me and quite babied from everything I’ve seen and checked
It's a report that will reveal any over revs experienced by the motor and when they occurred. Very common request for manual trans Porsche sports cars from this era.
@Raposa I do not know what you mean on a DME report ? Not sure what you’re looking for as everything should be posted that’s available. I only have the build sheet and the complete inspection report done about 2 years ago. Absolutely everything is running and working as it should. I also don’t know of any missing fasteners to undercarriage. Let me know if there is something else I can take a picture of or supply . I’m glad to share whatever I have and is available.
Thank you for the prompt response to the request for the sample report but I didn't see the DME "over rev" report.
Also their seems to be some damage to one of the splash guards underneath. Are all the fasteners in place?
@Raposa Yes sir - just posted as requested.
Anything else let me know
Thank you
