Specially configured to promote the new 997 generation, this 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera S Launch Edition comes finished in Black over a matching full leather interior with Adaptive Sport Seats, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), Sport Chrono Package Plus, the Bose High-End Sound Package, and a 6-speed manual transmission. It has also been customized with a GT3 front bumper, Turbo-style wing, H&R springs, Rinspeed exhaust, and OZ Ultraleggera wheels. Recently serviced in preparation for sale, this 997 Launch Edition is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida showing approximately 35k miles on the odometer.
This Carrera S comes finished in Black and features a custom GT3 front bumper along with rocker panel extensions and a Turbo-style rear wing. It rides on a set of aftermarket 19” OZ Ultraleggera three-piece wheels which are the same style used for RUF’s exclusive 997 RGT supercar. The front hood is said to have been refinished during the installation of the GT3 bumper and the seller describes the paint to be in excellent overall condition with only a few minor imperfections, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Premium black full leather upholstery extends from the optional Adaptive Sport Seats to the dashboard, door panels, center console, and three-spoke steering wheel. Upgraded Rennline pedal covers have been installed including heel-toe extensions and the seller reports all accessories remain fully functional including the climate control system and original PCM head unit.
The naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six engine is rated at 355 HP and 295 lb.-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The factory optional Sport Chrono Package is equipped along with Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), and this example features an upgraded air intake and Rinspeed exhaust system. A slight muffler rattle is noted when the exhaust is cold. The ride height has been lowered using H&R springs and the CARFAX report shows an oil service completed by Parkhaus Performance earlier in May of 2022.
This sale will include a clean title.

@jammaljc @GLHatWFO Good eye! I had never noticed that. Looks like it might only the slightest bend as there is not a single vibration while driving - I have taken a close up photo and submitted it to PCarMarket. Before the auction started, I took the car for a quick spin to make sure everything was in order and can guarantee the car does not vibrate at any speed even into the triple digits.
@siabond26 There was not an engine out service done, not sure how you deducted that. There is no reason a 35k-mile 997 should need the engine removed. I have not been able to find the time to get a DME report on the car, but with this mileage and how clean it is (clearly not tracked) I would say it was not abused.
@NYSport and @jammaljc, if you can view on an tablet or IPad, look at #38 and #39 too with image enhancement.
@NYSport and 34.
@jammaljc Left or right? Looks like 12 o'clock position on right front picture 36?
@jammaljc , good observation.
Noted the left front tire has a chunk taken out of sidewall, and looks like the rim may be bent just under. Can you check the wheel and post a closeup? Any front end vibration at speed?
Bid in the amount of $25,500
To Seller: How come there was an engine out service done? Do you have the DME report?
Bid in the amount of $25,000
My first water cooled Porsche, after four air cooled Targa's, was a 2005 Carrera S .
Quite a difference !
More car than I could use to limits.
Nice look with GT3 front clip and ( must have w/997's ) rear wing
@StrasseD76 good news on the build date… I’d rather have a Serviceable IMS
Hey everyone! Thanks for the comments thus far.
@GLHatWFO We have the receipt for the latest service that was done in preparation for the sale - can upload a copy of it. All previous service history is available on the Carfax - car is up to date and currently ready to go.
Like @GT3-guy said, there is no reason a 35k-Mile car should require an engine out service. I will try to get a DME report before the auction ending!
@GLHatWFO @GT3-guy & @Upshift4 There is no documented IMS update on the car, however, good news is that being a Launch Edition with a 6/04 build date, it comes with the easily serviceable bearing not requiring a full tear-down.
@elinmueller The launch edition is one of my personal favorites, also one of the only non GT or Turbo cars with PCCB's. It is not just a reference but has an actual option code on the build sheet. If I am not mistaken, the "new gen" refers to the 997 chassis, since in 2005 the 996 chassis was also still produced.
I’m curious about the Launch Edition. Is that what new gen refers to on the sticker? Just trying to better understand any more context around what it means for this model.
Unaware of the build date… might not be a serviceable IMS
I'm getting in line. Has the IMS update already been performed?
@GLHatWFO Only if it has a build date February 2005 or prior… I’d seriously doubt this motor has been out tho… but god bless the IMS cars, at least you can fix those.. 05.5-08 it’s a full motor tear down.. great car!! Interested
@StrasseD76, this looks really really nice and with tasteful aftermarket upgrades. Any service documentation like when the last engine out service was done. An over rev report, IMS update?
Thank you!
