Renowned as one of the finest water-cooled Porsches in history, the original GT3 earned its moniker from the formidable FIA racing class it was meticulously crafted to dominate. Distinguished by its venerable Mezger engine, the GT3 stands as the most assertive and track-focused naturally aspirated variant of the 996 delivered to the U.S. market. Finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a Black interior, this 2005 example boasts noteworthy features including Bi-Xenon headlights, exclusive carbon fiber and aluminum trim, Custom Tailoring (special wishes that require further communication), and more. Representing the final year of production, this 996 GT3 is now being offered for auction out of Louisiana with less than 9k miles on the odometer.
This GT3 is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic and is characterized by aggressive aerodynamic features including a front spoiler, side skirts, and a fixed rear wing. The car rides on factory 18” GT3 wheels dressed in Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires mounted in 2021. The seller notes minor imperfections on the lower front bumper. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, this GT3 showcases Black leather complemented Exclusive carbon fiber and aluminum trim pieces along with carbon fiber inlays for the shifter and brake handle. A thicker steering wheel was also opted for, and the seller notes a new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) radio was fitted, A complete list of factory equipment is provided below:
Powering this 996 GT3 is the race-derived 3.6-liter flat-six Mezger engine with a 6-speed manual transmission that sends as much as 380 HP and 284 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels, providing acceleration from 0-60 MPH in approximately 4 seconds. The seller states a new rear main seal was installed within the last two months and the CARFAX report shows 9 service history entries.
This sale will include some service records, two keys, and a clean title.

@bucky56477 Guys, You are correct! The DME you referenced is the correct DME for this car. The correct DME photos have been sent to PCAR tonight and will be posted to this listing momentarily! Apologies for error. Thank you for your interest in the auction.
@Carbine123 That does not make sense about the operating hours. I have seen the actual DME report of this car and the first two images posted are not it. If you do a quick google search of the VIN you can pretty easily find the actual DME report from previous listings (by this dealer) and it is NOT an all zero car. The real DME report showed 1443 range 1 ignitions at 282.5hrs, and the total operating hours at that time were 310.6hrs. This was six months ago, so these numbers could have changed.
@Love4thecar Thank you for your question, as I understand it that field is only telling you how many seconds the control unit has been in operation. If you divide it out it comes to @103 hours, or less than 5 days total, which is right on the money for the @8k miles on the car. I don’t think you can translate that to a speed as the control unit would also be operating when the ignition is on without the engine running.
Bid in the amount of $80,000
I'm confused about the number of ranges on the DME.
I thought there were only two ranges, not three on a 996 gen.
@carbine123
Thanks!
Maybe someone can decipher this? Is the DME saying 373k seconds engine operation? That works out to an average speed of 80?
DME readings have been posted to the gallery!
Bid in the amount of $75,000
Operating hours with be shown on the DME which should somewhat correspond to the mileage so when that is posted we'll see.

@jab7106 Hi there. Please view Carfax displayed in listing to see ownership history. In my ownership we have no t tracked this car.
Bid in the amount of $27,500
Is this a one owner car? What percentage of the 8000 miles has been street use vs track use?
@jfcl911 Hi there and my apologies for my delay in getting back to you. A vehicle of this age is generally exempt . This is a guaranteed TRUE 8,000 mile example.
Bid in the amount of $25,911
Bid in the amount of $10,996
Can you explain the “exempt from odometer reading” phrases in the Carfax? Thanks
Hello there! I hope all are having a fantastic weekend. We are having a rainy day here in New Orleans but we are welcoming it as it is much needed. Because I am stuck inside today I get to watch RM Sotheby’s White Collection Auction rather than a mandatory Alabama game elsewhere.
You are viewing a superb example of a 2005 GT3 with a clean history and no stories.
Please feel free to message me with any questions you may have, and I will do my best to respond to the best of my knowledge. With the holidays upon us my response time may take a bit longer. Thank you for your patience.
Good luck and happy bidding!
@ptcalhoun The BaT description of the tyres on this car (June 2023) notes this car is wearing PZero’s dated both from 2019 and 2021. Either brand rubber will be run wearing them out
@ptcalhoun Thank you! In fact the tires are Pirelli.
Note tires are Pirelli not Michelin which is noted in copy.
