This 2005 Lotus Elise is a Series 2 example finished in Storm Titanium Metallic over a black interior and features a transverse 1.8-liter 2ZZ-GE inline-four engine paired with a 6-speed manual transaxle, leather bucket seats, a three-spoke MOMO steering wheel, AP Racing brakes, 16”/17” alloy wheels, the optional Touring Package, and a removable hardtop. It has also been modified with Girodisc 2-piece brake rotors, IK RaceTech Suspension adjustable coilovers, an RTD2 brace, a harness bar, and Schroth safety belts. This Lotus was originally sold in California and was purchased by the seller, its third owner, out of Seattle Washington in 2010. It is now being offered for auction out of Massachusetts with approximately 74k miles showing on the odometer.
The Lotus Elise features TRM composite bodywork mounted to a lightweight epoxy-bonded aluminum chassis. This example is finished in Storm Titanium Metallic with an optional matching removable roof panel, a retractable black soft top, and black powder-coated 16”/17” split seven-spoke alloy wheels. The wheels were installed and painted in 2013 along with Kuhmo Ecsta 4X tires which remain in good condition per the seller. Other equipment includes a vented hood and engine cover, side air intakes, a rear diffuser, an aluminum alloy fuel filler door, and dual center-mounted exhaust tips. Factory-installed Star Shield paint protection film remains applied over the exterior and the seller notes the front clamshell was refinished to address a crack on the splitter by Bel-Red Auto Body in Bellevue, WA. The soft top was also replaced in 2013. Some minor imperfections have been addressed with Lotus touch-up paint and a small chip was filled on the passenger-side windshield under prior ownership. The seller adds the exterior recently underwent paint correction and ceramic coating.
The cockpit features black leather bucket seats with a matching dashboard, door panels, and a three-spoke leather MOMO steering wheel. Accessories include power windows, a central locking system, air conditioning, an engine start button, and a Blaupunkt Acapulco MP54 head unit with a four-speaker sound system. The seats were professionally grommeted and paired with Schroth safety belts attached to a harness bar under prior ownership. The seller notes the hardtop headliner was recently replaced by Lotus of Boston and two new door pulls have been purchased, although only the driver’s side has been replaced. Noted imperfections include a small scratch on the passenger-side aluminum tub and a small chip on the paint on the driver’s door. The Switch Pack Module (SPM) is failing, causing the lights to work intermittently, although a replacement SPM is included in the sale.
The Toyota-derived 1.8-liter 2ZZ inline-four engine delivers up to 190 HP and 133 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The factory AP Racing brakes have been paired with 2-piece Girodisc rotors and the suspension features IK RaceTech 36mm single-adjustable coilovers with an RTD2 to link brace. The spark plugs were recently replaced, and all factory recalls have been performed. The seller notes the throttle cable is sticky and causes a heavy pedal feel, and the cable likely needs to be lubricated or replaced.
This sale will include a window sticker, a toolkit, an air pump, and a clean title along with a spare SPM, exhaust heatshield, and roof panel storage bags.
The seller would like you to know: “When I purchased the car in 2010 from M Evolution in Seattle WA, she already had close to 49,000 miles, as there had been two previous owners. The car had been – and still is – very well taken care of. While not considered my daily driver at the time, I was able to drive her almost year-round due to the mild weather in the Seattle area. I can't speak for the previous owners, but I've garaged her since the day I brought her home. After moving to the Boston area in 2014, I continued to garage her year-round and properly stored her during the winter (from around October/Nov to April/May). To my knowledge, she has never seen snow, winter weather, or salty roads. As I mentioned previously, when I purchased the car in 2010 the front splitter was cracked. In order to get it repaired properly the Lotus dealer/body shop said that in order to do it correctly the best course of action was to replace the clamshell. I immediately filed an insurance claim, since this was a very expensive repair. The work was performed by Bel Red Auto Body in Bellevue WA. They did a fantastic job... There is no discernible way to tell anything had been replaced – the paint match is perfect, etc. If you pull a car fax, you can see this incident on the report. She had aftermarket wheels when I got her, so in 2013, I purchased a new set of OEM Lotus SS wheels which were professionally powder-coated satin black. It was around this time that I also replaced the soft top. She had some minor upgrades by the time I got my hands on her – 2-piece rotors, racing harnesses, and the RTD2 Brace. During the time I owned her, I had the Titan Steering rack and RaceTech suspension installed. I also had the original headliner professionally replaced by Lotus of Boston (Previously Aston Martin of New England). I recently replaced the spark plugs (less than 200 miles ago). I've somewhat babied her in our time together, but I did drive her. Cosmetically, she's in excellent shape... you'd never guess she's almost 20 years old! You can absolutely drive her as is, however I would perform the minor repairs that I mentioned previously (Switch Pack Module replacement, throttle cable). She will make the new owner very happy!”

@panthers43 Hi, I looked back at the service records, while it doesn't call it out specifically, it looks like the cam intake should have been inspected in 2015, then again in 2021 when I had services performed.

@panthers43 Hi. I don't remember if the intake cam has been inspected. However, if it's part of any of the services, it was most likely done. I can take pics of the underside shortly and will upload them.
Hey there arjayc, was wondering if to your knowledge the intake cam was ever inspected on this car for cam wiping? Also, any chance you have some photos of the underside and suspension?
