Available for auction is this 2005 Ford Mustang GT Saleen S281 finished in Silver Clearcoat Metallic over a Dark Charcoal leather interior. Founded in 1983, Saleen Autosport is renowned for building high-performance Mustangs sold directly through authorized Ford dealers. This Saleen S281 is #558 of 1,345 examples produced in 2005 and was originally purchased from Korum Ford of Puyallup, Washington with only one documented owner since. It comes equipped with a host of Saleen upgrades including Racecraft suspension components, a full bodykit, and 20” chrome wheels. Fastidiously maintained from new, this Saleen S281 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Oregon showing under 13k miles on the odometer.
The Saleen S281 sports a revised front fascia with integrated driving lights, a vented rear bumper with debossed “Saleen” lettering, a twin center exit exhaust, a contoured rear spoiler, and side skirts. This example comes finished in Silver Clearcoat Metallic with a “Saleen” windshield banner as well as Saleen decals and badging. The finish is said to remain in excellent overall condition aside from a few stone chips and a scuff on the lower front lip. Detailed images can be found in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. This Mustang rides on a set of chrome 20” Saleen seven-spoke wheels dressed in Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tires from 2004.
The cabin features a pair of Saleen sport seats upholstered in Dark Charcoal leather with louvered headrests and “Saleen” embroidery on the backrests. Other details include Saleen pedal pads, badging and doorsills, Saleen-branded instrumentation including a 200mph speedometer, auxiliary gauges, an 8k rpm tachometer, “S281” floor mats, an aluminum shift knob, and a serialized dashboard plaque. The cabin is said to remain very well preserved, showing only light wear on the driver’s seat.
Power comes from a 4.6L V8 upgraded by Saleen with a high-performance air filter, Saleen pulleys, and a 2.5” center exit exhaust system. As much as 325 HP and 340 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission and a solid rear axle with 3.55 gears. The suspension has been upgraded with a Racecraft suspension system which includes Saleen-specified shocks and struts, springs, sway bars, and bushings. Hi everyone, and thanks for taking a look at this Saleen! This car lived its entire life at the same address with the same owner until I had the opportunity to buy it. It's always been garaged and pampered. As you can see, it's pretty much in the wrapper and is a blast to drive.
