Now up for auction is this 2005 BMW E46 M3 Convertible finished in Titanium Silver Metallic over grey Nappa leather. The E46 platform represents a high point in design, performance, and quality for BMW with the third generation M3 remaining one of the most celebrated sports cars on the road. Originally sold in Illinois where it remained up until the current owner’s acquisition in 2017 at just 18k miles, this 2005 example stays true to its factory specifications and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas with approximately 46k miles showing on the odometer.
The seller reports the Titanium Silver Metallic (354) finish to have been preserved with clear paint protection applied over the front bumper and forward portion of the hood. Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. The M3 sports several visual differences compared with a standard 3-Series Coupe, most notably its wider fender flares, side air vents, revised bumpers, mirrors, and signature M-Power quad-tip exhaust. Another distinctive feature are the 19” Style 67 forged wheels which are manufactured by Fuchs and come dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires that were mounted in 2020 with just over 3k miles driven since.
Inside, the grey Nappa leather upholstery is said to be in very good condition apart from some minor wear on the driver’s seat. Some wear is also present on the center console and shifter surround. This E46’s interior features M-specific details including heated Sport Seats, a thicker M-Sport leather steering wheel with contrasting stitching, and an M gauge cluster with special warm-up lights unique to the S54 engine. Additional factory options include brushed Shadow aluminum trim, a BMW MK4 navigation system, PDC (parking distance control), and a Harmon Kardon Hi-Fi stereo system.
Power is derived from the venerable 3.2L S54 inline-six, which makes up to 333 HP and 269 lb.-ft of torque. Widely regarded as one of BMW’s greatest engine designs, the S54 utilizes individual throttle bodies, quasi-dry sump lubrication, and upgraded Mahle pistons. This M3 can accelerate from 0-60 MPH in approximately 5 seconds up to an electronically governed top speed of 155 MPH. BMWs automated Sequential Manual Gearbox II, or SMG II, routes power to the rear wheels and allows for both automatic and manual gear changes. CARFAX shows a fairly consistent history of service including BMW dealership maintenance from new up until 2017. The seller states that standard routine service has been observed throughout their ownership including oil, differential, and brake fluid changes as well as a new battery. Corresponding invoices from Momentum BMW are provided in the gallery.
This sale will include service records under current ownership and a clean title. A generation regarded by some enthusiasts as the true “Ultimate Driving Machine”, this unmolested E46 M3 is just waiting for a new owner to get behind the wheel and enjoy.

Hello, I'm not too familiar with a SMG II gearbox, does that mean it has a clutch?
@jbaumann83 thanks and it's a spectacular example indeed. You can absolutely drive from Texas to Michigan. Absolutely no issues at all.
This is a spectacular M3 example. Any known issues that would not allow me to drive this vehicle from Texas back to Michigan?
