Now being offered out of the private collection of one of PCARMARKET's principals is this exceptional 2004 Volkswagen R32 presented in Reflex Silver.  PCARMARKET has broken from its all-Porsche format for this special listing as the CEO of PCARMARKET wanted to offer it exclusively to our community.  Limited to 5,000 examples for the U.S. market, the R32 was introduced as the pinnacle of Volkswagen’s R-line family.  Equipped with the legendary VR6 engine, a 6-speed manual transmission and 4Motion all-wheel drive, the original R32 is one of the most iconic and beloved hot hatchbacks of all time.  This 2004 example had been meticulously maintained by two previous owners before making its way to a private collection in 2016.  Having always been kept in a climate-controlled environment, this R32 remains entirely original and in immaculate overall condition.  Showing approximately 5k miles on the odometer, this is easily one of the finest Volkswagen R32 examples available.

The Reflex Silver finish remains in like-new condition as could be seen in the images provided in the photo gallery.  Keen observers will note the slight dimples on the front bumper (known to be found on these models) which are indicative of originality.  Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with recent paint meter readings.  The R32 is characterized by its unique front fascia, rocker-panel extensions, rear valance and spoiler which provide for a distinctly muscular look.  This example retains its factory 18” wheels which come dressed in their original Goodyear Eagle tires.

Inside, you will find a pristine original interior with rare and highly desirable leather seats with factory cloth seat inserts.  The R32 features brushed aluminum trim, pedals with R-line cladding, a leather wrapped steering wheel, and a shift knob emblazoned with the 4Motion logo.  There have been no modifications made and all gauges, electrical components and accessories are in working order.

This R32 is equipped with a highly regarded 3.2L DOHC 24-valve VR6 engine which is rated at approximately 237 HP.  All-four wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission making for a 0-60 time of approximately 6.5 seconds.  The Haldex 4Motion all-wheel drive system strategically delivers power to the rear wheels when front traction is lost, providing for an enhanced grip around corners.  No performance modifications have been made, preserving the factory-intended driving experience.  Under previous ownership, all routine maintenance had been performed at high-end authorized dealerships (service records can be seen within the photo gallery).  Since becoming a part of its current collection, this R32 has been driven approximately 20 miles. The seller states that a fresh oil change will be carried out prior to delivery.

In a 2003 "The Truth About Cars" review, it was said that “…you can blast the R32 around corners with such confidence that you end up driving it far faster than you'd imagine possible.”

The sale of this impeccable R32 will include a master key, the original books and a collection of service records.  Do not miss this opportunity to own a true museum-grade Volkswagen R32.

So what happened? Is this the normal process for a Pcarmarket auction ending? The top of the page says "SOLD" but why does this page says "This auction is in the process of being finalized. Results will be posted soon" and I've not seen any email traffic from the site other than the "You are the current high bidder" email at $58,000.

I bought a mint 8k-mile, 1-owner Mk4 R32 with full leather and all of its merch on Bringatrailer last year for $44k plus fees, tax and transport. Silver, like this one. I believe it was worth every penny - lesser cars have since sold for similar money. Rare to begin with, most were modded and/or abused, so They’re now exceptionally scarce in this condition. The sound is incredible. Of 9 cars in the garage, it’s my favorite, and for sure a future classic. Good luck to everyone. You won’t regret it.

Does it come with the original swag that was included with all US 2004 R32s? Namely the special metal case, key fob, pen and numbered poster?

Does the potential buyer still have to pay the "VIG" on this, since it is not a Porsche, and the seller is an owner of this site?

  • PCAR_Collection (seller) 4 years, 4 monthsago

@Davidmohlman Hi David. That’s correct. This r32 is as it left the factory. There is Zero paint work zero mods and the car is actually as nice if not nicer in person as the photos suggest. This car will satisfy those with the highest standards and expectations. We have some other dealer/factory delivery papers but nothing pertaining to original sale price.

So this is actually a UR R32. UR standing for " The First " on the Audi Quattro Coupes. This being THE FIRST non Pcar being sold on Pcarmarket. What a stunning example to have the honor of being the first! Nothing to see here. Everyone go home!!!!

  • Davidmohlman (registered bidder) 4 years, 4 monthsago

Thanks for the paint meter readings. So it appears zero of the body panels have any paintwork..correct? Seeing how I am not familiar with this model, did they ever come with additional books... No window sticker but do you have any of the original sales invoices... Thanks..

@Davidmohlman All of the documents have been added to the listing including service records, books and paint meter readings. The records show the fastidious previous owner performed consistent maintenance at a factory authorized Lamborghini dealership based on time despite the low mileage. There is no window sticker present.

I have to admit I was initially a bit disappointed to see a non-Porsche being offered here...that is UNTIL I saw who was offering it and the condition of this example. This is so impressive!
