Up for auction is this 2004 Volkswagen Golf MK4 R32 finished in Reflex Silver. Produced for one year only and limited to 5,000 examples for the U.S. market, the R32 was introduced as the pinnacle of Volkswagen’s R-line family. Equipped with the venerable VR6 engine, a 6-speed manual transmission, and Haldex all-wheel-drive system, the original R32 is one of the most iconic and beloved hot hatchbacks of all time. This 2004 example is said to have undergone considerable recent service including a new timing chain, guides, and clutch. With just under 105k miles showing on the odometer, this highly desirable MK4 R32 is being offered for auction by its third owner out of New York.
This R32 is finished in Reflex Silver and is equipped with upgraded European-spec glass headlights. The R32 can be distinguished from a standard Golf by its model-specific bumpers, side skirts, and dual-exit exhaust. This example retains its R32 exclusive 18” OZ Racing Aristo wheels which come dressed in Falken Azenis FR510 tires showing date codes from 2019. Some minor curb rash can be seen on the wheels as well as general road-going wear throughout the exterior, additional photos are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, the black interior features R32-specific Konig leather-trimmed bucket seats along with brushed aluminum trim, R-line pedals, a power sliding sunroof, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a shift knob emblazoned with the 4Motion logo. Noted imperfections include creasing and a slight tear on the driver’s seat, loosening of the headliner material toward the rear, clogged sunroof drains, and bubbles under the removable window tint. The seller notes that the A/C compressor has been recently replaced.
This R32 is equipped with a highly regarded 3.2L DOHC 24-valve VR6 engine which is rated up to 240 HP. All four wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission making for a 0-60 time of approximately 6.5 seconds. The Haldex 4Motion all-wheel-drive system strategically delivers power to the rear wheels when front traction is lost, providing additional grip through corners. Routine oil changes are said to have been carried out and the seller notes recent service items to include a new timing chain, timing chain guides, throwout bearing, and clutch. A check engine light is currently illuminated on the dashboard which the seller reports as a faulty secondary air pump. An upgraded dogbone mount will also accompany the sale.
This sale will include owner's manuals, an upgraded dogbone mount, and a clean title. Do not miss out on your opportunity to own one of the most highly sought after and collectible hot hatchbacks of all time.

Thanks for the quick reply seller. Maybe you can get the detailed invoice from AZ Euros. I don't see timing chain and rails mentioned in the Carfax and I don't know why the headgasket would have to be changed. Were new headbolts installed? Looks like a great example. Trust but verify.

@Ringmeister Hey , i don’t have paper work on hand , but you can see in the Carfax below , AZ Euros did most of the work , you can see they are very reputable. You will be pleased.
Seller, nice R32. Can you post the service docs you have for the car especially the most recent extensive work that was done and referenced in the listing. Thanks.
Any service on the vehicle is listed in the Carfax below.
@PAEuros @N_Seitz22 This is a FL car , i have had it for one winter covered , never seen the cold.
@mete424 Interesting. If it was such an EZ fix, why would you just not do it?
@PAEuros @N_Seitz22 Whats up , minor drain clog , EZ fix , no i have not taken the time. No rust on this vehicle , nowhere. I have covered the sunroof , no water has gotten in or caused damage like mold etc. I had the car prior to the incident , caught it on a rainy day after having the car for 6 months. Dry.

Any rust on the underside? It says the sunroof drains are clogged, is this allowing water to get inside the vehicle? Why haven't they been fixed?

@mete424 Good to here, mine was a factory defect and was repaired. Sections of the hood and roof started to peel away.
GLWTS
Wish I was in the market for another car. I throughly enjoyed every minute of seat time in the .:R32, especially in those killer Konig seats!
@MPM97twin No peel , paint is great , Florida car. This has only been in NY for 10 months , has been covered and not exposed to any salt. No rust.
Had this exact copy from '04-'11. It is amazingly fun to drive, especially with four snows in the winter.
Tons of after market DIY projects/parts (cross drilled rotors, steel braided brake lines stiffen the pedal feel, simple Haldex upgrade to improve RW bias, a lot of suspension improvements, short shift, air intake etc) to make it Euro Spec.
The question to ask, is this one with the dreaded paint peal in the roof and hood?
