Produced in a limited run of 1,953 examples representing the inaugural year of the legendary Porsche 550 Spyder race car, the Boxster S 550 Anniversary Edition is presented in GT Silver Metallic over premium Natural Leather upholstery. It comes with unique bumper covers, bi-xenon headlights, painted interior trim, heated Sport Seats, a Bose sound System, Sport Suspension, two-tone 18” Carrera wheels, and a 3.2-liter flat-six engine with increased power output. One of 500 produced for the U.S. market, this example is appointed with a Cocoa Brown leather interior and a 6-speed manual transmission. It was purchased from its original owner, a collector, with less than 4k miles on the odometer, and has been fortified with an updated IMS bearing and crankshaft seal. Now showing just over 7k miles on the odometer, this rare Boxster S 550 Spyder Anniversary Edition is being offered for auction by its second owner out of Minnesota.
This special-edition 986 features unique bumper covers, painted air intake grilles and roll bars, polished rear lettering, aluminum-colored brake calipers, and a stacked double-tip exhaust outlet. All 550 Anniversary Editions are finished in GT Silver Metallic, and this example is equipped with a power-retractable Cocoa Brown convertible top. Other equipment includes bi-xenon headlights, headlamp washers, fog lights, a removable cabin wind deflector, a speed-activated rear spoiler, and two-tone 18” Carrera wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport tires from 2018. The seller states that the paint is in excellent overall condition apart from a couple of small scratches, as depicted in the photo gallery.
Appointed with Cocoa Brown leather upholstery and GT Silver Metallic-painted trim pieces, the cabin features heated Sport Seats with perforated inserts. Other accessories include a three-spoke sport steering wheel with perforated grips, perforated leather for the shifter and handbrake boots, an aluminum gear knob, chrome gauge bezels, and a numbered limitation plaque ahead of the center console designating the car as #61 in the series. The driver is also provided with automatic climate control, cruise control, a central locking system, an onboard computer, the Bose High-End Sound Package, and an AM/FM/CD stereo.
Tuned for a 6 HP increase over a standard Boxster S, the 550 Anniversary Edition features a 3.2-liter flat-six engine rated at 266 HP. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes a 10mm-lowered Sport Suspension, Porsche Stability Management (PSM), and fixed 4-piston brakes with cross-drilled rotors at each corner. The seller indicates an updated single-row IMS bearing has been installed along with an updated crankshaft seal and new flywheel and pressure plate bolts.
This sale will include a spare tire and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “500 allocated for the US market. The car was finished in GT Silver metallic, a color previously reserved for the Porsche Carrera GT. The engine output was increased to 266 hp, and it featured a 10mm lowered sports suspension. The special edition included sports tailpipes, a 5mm wider track, and a Carrera GT-style dark brown Cocoa top. A painted center console and a unique cocoa-brown full leather interior (with a gray natural leather option) were standard. Number 61 of 1953.”

One of the best features of these Special Edition versions of the 986 is the 987 factory short shifter. Porsche part number 997 424 983 00. The factory short shift is delightful.
We have received a few questions about transport and storage.
We can help the new owner with both ! We can provide storage here at our facility and organize transport to its new home.
Again, feel free to reach out via the contact seller button if you have questions about either storage or transport.
Thank you and good luck bidding !!
GT Silver was also available on 2004 40th anniversary 911. I own a 550 SE and it's wonderful. Much smaller than my 981 Spyder and it feels lithe. This (and the 986) is under the radar. The 550 SE also features a shorter shifter.
Good morning everyone !!

Sorry about the miscommunication @Sberastequi we do have it !! Uploaded to gallery now !
Is the window sticker (Monroney) available?
Service records prior to current ownership are unfortunately unavailable, as the car was purchased from the estate of a longtime Porsche collector. It was primarily maintained by personal mechanic who didn’t report to Carfax.. The current owner also keeps this same route with is own personal mechanic. That said, the vehicle was and is routinely serviced—including seasonal oil changes—and cared for as part of a curated group of enthusiast-owned cars. The IMS bearing has been addressed, and we're happy to provide details on that work. The IMS bearing service work is now uploaded to the gallery. @karq

Can you provide some pics of service receipts and the IMS paperwork. the carfax shows only two oil changes in 20 yrs, that can't possibly be true on this immaculate anniversary edition, thanks

Offered for auction with no reserve, this 2004 Porsche Boxster S is a rare and highly collectible 550 Spyder 50th Anniversary Edition, one of just 500 examples designated for the U.S. market and 1,953 produced globally in tribute to the original 550 Spyder introduced in 1953. This example is #61 of 1,953 and shows only 7,012 miles from new with two documented owners and key preventative maintenance completed.
Finished in exclusive GT Silver Metallic—a color previously reserved for the Carrera GT—this special edition features a Cocoa Brown convertible soft top, a Cocoa full leather interior with painted center console, and unique trim details throughout. Factory performance upgrades include a 10mm lowered sport suspension, 5mm wider track, sports tailpipes, and an increase in engine output to 266 horsepower from its 3.2L flat-six, paired to a 6-speed manual transmission.
Importantly, this Boxster S benefits from an upgraded IMS bearing and new rear main crankshaft seal (RMS), addressing two of the most commonly cited concerns with the M96 engine and adding peace of mind for the next owner.
A standout example of one of Porsche’s most desirable special edition Boxsters, this low-mile, well-preserved 550 Anniversary Edition combines rarity, heritage, and thoughtful maintenance—now being offered with no reserve on Pcar Market.
We welcome all PPIs and facetime viewings!
This is simply stunning. I had a 2002 Boxster and it was one of the best cars I've owned. I'm a bit envious of whomever wins this beauty!

Another time-capsule Peak 986. Delighted to see this.
I bought my my 2002 986 Boxster S with 7200 miles on the odometer, and it now has about 12500 — it’s about the perfect roadster, very analog and agile. The drivetrain is grin-making machinery. The road feel is very sophisticated and the handling so precise. The driving position and visibility in this car is the best I’ve ever driven in. When just driving on the road — without special effort — I have such awareness of the space and situation, that’s engineered into this car.
Oh, and when the cam comes on at 4350 RPM, everything comes alive and your right foot is on a hyperspace pedal.,
You won’t find better bang-for-the-buck in driving. Period. And this is a super elegant version. Like I said already, Peak 986.
I wish I were in the market with these gems available!
Nice to see these low mileage collector cars coming out to play.....
I own number 0123.
