Now up for auction is this 2004 Porsche 986 Boxster S 550 Anniversary Edition finished in GT Silver Metallic over a Cocoa (dark brown) interior. Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the legendary Porsche 550 Spyder race car, this special edition Boxster S was produced in a limited series of 1,954 examples in total and only 500 reportedly delivered to the U.S. market. This particular 986 denoted as #222/1954 features M030 Sports Suspension, 18” Carrera wheels with painted centers, and a specially tuned engine paired with a 6-speed manual transaxle. Said to have been in the longtime care of a major collector and enthusiast up until the seller’s purchase 3 years ago, this 986 is now being offered for auction with approximately 96k miles showing on the odometer by its owner in Maryland.
These special edition Boxster models were exclusively finished in GT Silver Metallic, and the paint on this example is said to remain in great condition. One small scratch is noted on the right-side rear quarter panel and CARFAX shows damage in 2018 to the left front portion which reportedly resulted from a deer running into the car. The front left fender is said to have been replaced and painted, with no persisting damage remaining (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery). The Cocoa soft top is reported to be in excellent condition having been stowed away with a hardtop currently in its place, although the hardtop is noted to be a different shade of silver from the rest of the car. This 550 Anniversary Edition is distinguished by a stacked central stainless steel exhaust tip and 18” Carrera wheels with painted centers.
Inside, the Cocoa leather interior is noted to be in excellent shape aside from some light wear on the driver’s seat. A special limitation badge on the center console reads “222/1954” and other options listed on the factory specification sheet include the following:

This Boxster S is equipped with a mid-mounted 3.2 L flat-six engine rated at 264 HP, an increase of 7 HP over the standard Boxster S thanks to revised engine tuning. This example also features Porsche Stability Management (PSM) and Sport Suspension (M030) with a 10mm lower ride height. Routine fluid and filter changes have been carried out and this 986 is said to have been maintained by Porsche of Silver Spring for most of its life. There is no record of an IMS bearing upgrade, although the seller reports this Boxster S to be in fantastic driving condition with a collection of service records available.
This sale will include a set of 2 keys, an original window sticker, owner’s manuals, tools, jack, a spare tire, a hardtop, service records, and a clean title.

@RJ80 oil change current... next due i approximately 2k miles... routine maintenance up to date... no mechanical issues in my ownership

Clutch is fine still does not answer the question is it the original clutch. You can expect it to last about 100,000 miles or a little more. A yes, no or I do not know would have been a answer. It was two part question are there any leaks. Good luck with you sale.
@fredf543 clutch is fine...car is an excellent everyday driver with no issues... description is accurate.. fender liner secondary to deer issue... easy fix... if you want to pick the car apart don’t bid... it is a unique car in excellent condition
This seller is terrible for not answering a question. I asked yesterday about the clutch with no luck to my question. I guess it need a new clutch, IMS bearing, new tires , fender liner, wheels resurfaced and interior to be sorted out. What you are left with is a money pit and 97k milers car. I am out

In picture 32, it looks like the top is separating from the frame. Any idea what it would cost to fix that? Also, in picture 25, looks like a cut in the tire.

Is there no wheel liner on the front drivers side wheel well, looks like it’s gone.
Nice 550: do you have specific maintenance records on the car? At this mileage, the IMS is probably of no concern. Can recommend a shop in your area for a PPI?

Hi, I've always like these 986 S 550 SE. Love the cocoa interior. The pinnacle of the 986 IMHO.
You mention the hardtop, but have included no pictures. Also, the top looks black (maybe due to the cloudy day). Passenger side rear quarter of the top looks like fairly worn. Can you supply additional pics? Lastly, need some underbody pics. Thanks and GLWTA!
