Pairing a desirable 5-speed manual transmission with its mid-mounted 2.7-liter flat-six, this 2004 Porsche 986 Boxster comes finished in Atlas Grey Metallic over a Black leather interior. It also features a Hi-Fi Sound System, cruise control, an aftermarket head unit including a rear-view camera and navigation, and aftermarket Fuchs-style wheels. This Boxster is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Wisconsin showing approximately 84k miles on the odometer.

The exterior is finished in Atlas Grey Metallic with a black soft top. For the second phase of 986 production, the Boxster received updated styling that more closely resembles the Carrera. Equipment includes integrated fog lights, side air intakes, an active rear spoiler, a central exhaust outlet, and aftermarket Fuchs-style wheels dressed in an older, mixed set of tires. Minor paint imperfections are noted on the front hood, along with some scuffs on the front bumper, a small ding on the rear trunk lid, and curb scuffs on two wheels. The seller also notes some paint touch-ups on the hood to address rock chips. Detailed images are provided in the gallery, along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, the driver is offered Black standard leather upholstery, matching Porsche-lettered floor mats, a Hi-Fi Sound System, cruise control, and a remote-control alarm system. An aftermarket head unit has been fitted, including a hands-free phone connection, a USB connection, a rear-view camera, and navigation. The seller notes minor wear on the seats and steering wheel, a pushed-in map light button, missing lights on the climate control’s digital display, and an unconnected rear defroster with wiring present.

A mid-mounted 2.7-liter flat-six engine rated at 217 HP drives the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual gearbox. An IMS bearing replacement is said to have been performed under previous ownership, along with the replacement of the radiator core and removal of the heat shield. The CARFAX report shows a total of 21 service history entries.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a spare tire, and sales literature. A Porsche-branded keychain, floor mats, a front storage container, and a rear license plate bracket are also included.

The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. I have owned this car for about 3 years and have had no serious problems. The previous owner addressed the IMS issue. The radiator core was replaced, and the heat shield was removed. Otherwise, only regular maintenance has been done. Factory hardtop is installed with all necessary hardware. The car runs and drives exceptionally well. It has never been tracked and has been driven responsibly for my daily commute. Stored in my garage every winter since I have owned it. All maintenance is up to date. The car is completely stock other than an aftermarket stereo that came with the car and aftermarket 18” Fuchs-style wheels. I am selling the car for financial reasons; otherwise, I would not sell it because I love it so much. Former PCA member sticker is on the windshield. No autocross or other racing has ever been done.”

@996X50CAB Thank you so much for your comments. It really is a terrific car. It is a great way to enter the Porsche experience in an affordable way. It’s exciting to drive and has been reliable for me in every way. You can even get decent gas mileage out of it! Believe me, if I didn’t have to sell it for financial reasons, I would keep it. I don’t think anyone can find a better used sports car for the money. It is an all around entertaining car to drive and yes it does get looks!

My first Porsche was a new Boxster just like this. What a fun car that really is a blast to drive for way less money and maintenance costs than anyone thinks. Most non-car people will simply see a sexy Porsche not knowing the year or model. The beauty of buying a 20 year old one, is that you can drive it around for a number of years and sell it for what you paid. If I didn’t already have too many cars, I’d be all over this as a summer toy for my wife. Good luck to the owner and bidders, looks like a great car imo.

@Poromeo I do not know the brand name. I have driven it for 3 years and about 15k miles with no issues.

Do you know which brand replacement IMS bearing was installed?

  • Billsfrank (seller) 2 months, 3 weeksago

@blazerguy The clutch is in great shape. Shifts smoothly every time. So fun to row through the gears!
