Available for auction is this 2004 Porsche 996 Carrera 4S finished in Basalt Black Metallic over a Black Full leather interior. Offering naturally aspirated power along with an all-wheel-drive system, widened bodywork, lower suspension, and larger brakes, the Carrera 4S bridges the gap between the base Carrera and the Turbo models. This 2004 example was acquired by its third and current owner in November of 2019, and has since been meticulously cared for with a paint correction and ceramic coating, as well as a number of services. Under previous ownership it reportedly received a new clutch and an upgraded IMS bearing. Now with approximately 56k miles showing on the odometer, this C4S is being offered for auction by its owner out of North Carolina.
The Carrera 4S is characterized by its wide fenders, Turbo-style bumpers, and model-specific reflector band spanning between the taillights. This example is finished in Basalt Black Metallic and has received paint correction and a ceramic coating under current ownership. It was reportedly involved in a low speed accident which required the replacement and refinishing of the front bumper and hood, and the blending of the original front fenders. Detailed images can be found in the gallery along with a video explaining the incident. It comes equipped with the Xenon headlight package and rides on a set of upgraded 19” wheels finished in black with colored crested center caps. The wheels are dressed in a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires bearing date codes from 2016 in the front and 2021 in the rear.
Inside, the cabin is trimmed in black full leather upholstery and is equipped with optional aluminum and leather shifter and handbrake. The seller reports that the cabin remains in excellent overall condition and that a set of Lloyd’s floor mats have been added. Additional images can be found in the gallery.
The naturally aspirated 3.6L flat-six engine is rated at 315 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque. All four wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission, and stopping power is provided by fixed four-piston brakes derived from the 911 Turbo. The CARFAX highlights 14 service records dating back to 2004, and the seller reports that the clutch was replaced and the IMS bearing was upgraded in 2015. More recently under current ownership the water pump and brake pads were replaced.
This sale will include a collection of service records, the original window sticker, owner’s manuals, spare tire, and a clean title. One of the most desirable models of the 996 generation, this Carrera 4S is not to be overlooked.

@Anandshah84 Image #41 shows the sticker inside the driver door jam and lists that it was retrofitted with the IMS Solution by IMS Solution, LLC. Image #91 is the receipt that work as well as clutch. I was told when I purchased the vehicle it was preventative maintenance. My original PPI when purchased the car was excellent and there was no reason to suspect the original bearing was failing. I also have the original IMS installation manual, image #105.
What IMS was used to replace the old one? Was it failing or was it preventative maintenance?

@aa649595 Appreciate the reply. Thank you.
IMO those wheels dont look bad on this car, I'd powder coat them grey/gunmetal or something to give a little contrast.
As a 2004 996 4S owner and follower for many a year, I
know if very few 996s that have not had the bumper cover replaced, repaired and repainted as they are easily damaged and suffer from road rash, even without a collision.
@Lottacars thanks for the feedback. The damage to the car was very minor and that's why I took the video of the car before it was repaired. I would encourage others to ensure they watch the short video before making a decision. Though not ideal, if the car had any "blemishes" before it would have been rock chips on the hood and front bumper. Now, there are zero rock chips on the front end being that the hood and bumper are new and both headlights also brand new. They are the Xenon headlamps which also really standout when compared the standard headlamps...this was a factory upgrade on original window sticker. Otherwise, this car has been babied by myself and the previous two owners. It's mechanically perfect, interior excellent and the car looks as pictured. Very clean and low mileage, lives under cover. IMS completed, clutch replaced. The car needs nothing.
Regarding the wheels, I think the wheels are just personal preference....I personally prefer the 19" matte black after market wheels over the 18" stock ones. Those wheels are the only modification to this car, just fyi.
We are in the final hours and I'll make myself available today to respond quickly to additional comments or questions. Thanks for bidding.
Thanks but the damage is holding people back. Also aftermarket wheels etc.
I thought I’d upload a shower scene to heat things up a bit! Link below to show how the water runs right off of the ceramic coating.

Just a quick note as than 24 hours remain in the auction: if anyone would like additional photos not in gallery, another video or has any questions whatsoever, just let me know. Anyone local Charlotte is welcome to see in person.

@Tpc11905 yes. The factory wheels were replaced under the first owners ownership and per where I bought the car, the second owner did not have them either. IMO the wheels on it make it stand out though I know that’s personal preference. I have black wheels on every car/truck I own. Coincidentally I think there are a set of 996 turbo wheels for auction now (maybe in deal tank) if they were a must.
Are those the only wheels that you have for the car? Thank you.
I have a 2004 4S with same colors and options plus the PSE, short shifter, and few others options. Such a blast to drive!
@Lottacars thanks for kicking off the bidding! This really is a beautiful car and I hate to part ways with her but with two teens (one about to be a driver) and other family hobbies, I just truly don’t have time or space to keep her evident by the fewer than 2,500 miles I’ve driven since purchasing in 2019. Happy to answer additional questions!
Bid in the amount of $24,000
@gofast007 Those were installed by the previous owner and the receipt for that purchase is photo #97. It says under items description "Rugger Mesh" and when I google that, I find a company called Avant Garde that appears to be the manufacturer of these wheels...rugger mesh being a style they offer.
What brand are the wheels? they look like dynamic Engineer but cant tell. Thnx
Hey everyone, I’m here to answer any questions you may have! Good luck to the bidders!
