Porsche celebrated four decades of the 911 sports car in 2004 with the introduction of a special 40th Anniversary Edition 996 Carrera Coupe. Limited to 1963 examples in total, the “40 Jahre 911” comes finished in GT Silver Metallic over Natural Leather upholstery and features the front fascia of the 911 Turbo along with a limited-slip differential, Sport Suspension, the X51 Power Kit, special polished wheels, and a unique trim package. This example was acquired by the current owner in 2021 and received an upgraded LN Engineering IMS bearing and a new clutch. Showing under 8k miles on the odometer, this highly collectible 996 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
The 911 40th Anniversary edition comes finished in GT Silver Metallic and features a front fascia from the 911 Turbo as well as GT3-style flared rocker panels, polished exhaust tips, and 18” Carrera II lightweight polished wheels. A special “40 Jahre Limited Edition” designation is also affixed to the rear decklid below a 911 emblem. The seller indicates this car’s exterior finish remains entirely original based on paint meter readings and the full front end is preserved under clear paint protection film. The car rides on a set of Michelin Pilot Sport tires from 2019. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is appointed with premium Grey Natural Leather upholstery complemented by aluminum-finished instrument dial rings, an Alcantara headliner, door sills with the “911” insignia, and a console limitation plate bearing the car’s individual production number. This 996 was also optioned with Power Comfort Seats and the Bose High-End Sound Package.
The 40th Anniversary Edition comes standard with the Exclusive X51 Powerkit which includes a valvetrain upgrade, cast-aluminum intake manifolds with a modified cross-section, and a remapped engine tune. The 3.6-liter flat-six engine produces up to 345 HP, an increase of 25 HP over the standard 996 Carrera. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 6-speed manual transmission which provides a 0-60 time of approximately 4.5 seconds. This special edition also comes standard with Turbo radiators, a limited-slip differential, and Sport Suspension. The seller indicates the clutch was replaced in February 2021 along with the installation of an upgraded LN Engineering IMS bearing. A service was also completed in June 2023 including an oil change and brake fluid flush.
This sale will include owner’s manuals and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. This is probably one of the best 40th Anniversary 911 in existence. With less than 8k miles, the car is 100% original with absolutely all original paint on every panel. All the safety maintenance items have been done. A full front paint protection film was installed by the previous owner (hood, both fenders, headlights, bumper, and mirrors caps. Feel free to ask any questions.”

@WRENCH.56 I believe that when the IMS bearing was done and the transmission was out, it made sense to replace the clutch also, if there were no additional labor cost. This was done by the previous owner back in February 2021 and he wanted total peace of mind after all the work was completed. See picture # 197 with all the work that was done.
Why was the clutch replaced if there is only 8,000 miles on the car?
@Decatur15 I don’t have that available. The earliest I can take the car to check that will be sometime next week. One thing for sure, that I can guarantee, this car is never been tracked.
Hello
Is the DME, RPM and run hour history available?
Thank you
Good afternoon,
I just uploaded more pictures of the car. Some viewers wanted more details of different area of the car and wanted to be transparent to everyone. Also, I have included other imperfections that are very hard to distinguish in the first posted pictures.

@155MPH Yes, the 40th Anniversary are fantastic cars. Very light, mechanical and well balanced. Unfortunately, I can’t keep and drive all of them. It’s time for someone else to enjoy this beautiful 911.
Beautiful. I want to say, "Just cancel the auction and give me a call, we'll work something out." But if I did, my wife would kill me - LOL. I'll be watching closely. These are amazing cars.
