Up for auction is this 2004 Porsche 996 Carrera “40th Anniversary Edition” finished in GT Silver Metallic over a Black Leather interior. Standing as one of approximately 800 examples delivered in North America, this generously equipped Carrera celebrates 40 years of the legendary 911 with a revised front bumper, factory polished 18-inch Carrera II lightweight wheels and the sought-after X51 Power Kit. This 996 is noted to be in exceptional overall condition with proper maintenance including an LN Engineering IMS bearing upgrade. Featuring an upgraded Fabspeed exhaust system and air intake, this special edition 996 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York while showing approximately 35k miles on the odometer.
The traditional GT Silver Metallic finish on this coupe is stated to be in outstanding overall condition with only a few very minor imperfections (detailed images are available in the photo gallery along with recent paint meter readings). This commemorative model is characterized by a revised Turbo-look front bumper, factory polished 18-inch Carrera II lightweight wheels and a special rear model designation. Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires were installed at 30.7k miles and this 996 remains stock in appearance with the exception of clear side marker lenses.
Inside, you will find a black leather interior which is reported to be in exceptional condition. Exclusive 40th Anniversary Edition details include aluminum finished instrument dial rings, Alcantara headliner, door sills with the “911” insignia and a console limitation plate bearing the car’s limited-edition number of 1010. This Carrera showcases the Bose High End Sound Package, power operated comfort seats and a rear window wiper. All gauges and electrical components are reported to be fully functional and the seller indicates that the climate control unit was recently replaced under their ownership.
The 40th Anniversary Edition is equipped with the exclusive X51 Power Kit which brings the output of the 3.6 L flat-six engine up to 345 HP, a 25 HP increase over the standard configuration. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 6-speed manual transmission which provides for a 0-60 time of approximately 4.5 seconds. The X51 Power Kit includes a valvetrain upgrade, cast-aluminum intake manifolds with a modified cross section and a remapped engine tune. This example underwent an LN Engineering IMS bearing upgrade at 27k miles as well as the installation of a Fabspeed muffler bypass and performance air intake. Recent service includes a brake fluid and coolant flush at 32k miles and a very recent full service at35k miles with an inspection and brake fluid flush and oil change. This Carrera is reported to be in pristine driving condition and accompanied by a thorough history of maintenance.
The sale of this 996 will include a set of two keys, a clean title, owner’s manuals, service records, a car cover, the original window sticker, the original floor mats and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. With some noteworthy service items and unique features, this impeccable 40th Anniversary Edition Carrera is ready to be enjoyed by a new owner.

We own #583 that we purchased here last year. Couldn't be happier with the 40thAE and feel it is hands down the best 911 value out there. Had a 997.2 before this one and in all honesty I prefer driving this. Light, narrow, naturally aspirated and RWD make this the perfect 'modern' 911 before they got too big. After driving both this and the similar generation GT3 its my opinion that the 40TH is 80% of a GT3 at 1/3 of the cost plus it wont break your back for everyday driving. Perfectly complements our G Body Carrera which is my baby but when the weather gets hot its nice to have actual working AC. Porsche just realized their newest PCCM to give the car bluetooth and Apple car play ability and perfectly integrates with the Bose Amp and speakers. Good luck with the auction, sounds like a very engaged seller which is always the best person to buy from. Someone will be really happy
Thank you. This a great car that I have cared for and driven over the past four years. Hopefully the auction is gearing up not winding down. Get out and bid on this one!!
as auction winds down, just want to thank seller for answering questions quickly and being attentive to the comments and inquiries.
There have been two registered bidders that have see/inspected the car over the past week and both commented that loved the car and confirmed it was in excellent condition, everything works and it sounded amazing. GLWTA today!

@leeber as the CarFax Comments suggest the transmission was removed to complete repair in 2006 at 9858 miles. I do not know why. Can’t comment on the clutch either. I can say that both transmission and clutch are in excellent working order and the shifts crisply and there is no clutch slipping. It gets from 0 to 60 MPH in under 5 seconds without breaking a sweat.
Bid in the amount of $25,000
@Spincus i dont think these questions relate to a time when you owned the car but maybe you know: why was the transmission removed from the car @ 9800 miles, and have you ever confirmed that the original transmission is in it now; and why was the clutch replaced @ 18K miles? Thanks.

Bid in the amount of $19,000
sadly no. I never had it.
I have owned the car since December 2016 and have driven 8,600 very fun miles. It loves to run. This car makes for a wonderful daily driver or a weekend blaster on back country roads. It is comfortable, fast, responsive and it makes a great sound when you push down your right foot. This 996 is in excellent condition, as I always have it washed and waxed, garaged and covered with a fitted 996 Porsche custom cover. The Cover comes with the sale as do the black and silver COCO mats front and rear. I also have the original black mats. The interior of this so nice as Porsche stepped it up the fit and finish of the 40th Anniversary 911. This car still has its new car leather aroma every time you step in. There are no interior flaws.
LN Engineering IMS and rear crank seal installed at time of my purchase at 27,395 miles. I had the custom Fabspeed exhaust and air intake installed at 30,500 miles that enhanced the throttle response added a beautiful exhaust note. Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's were fitted at 30,790 miles.
I had Porsche of Larchmont install a new climate control unit at 34,582 miles.
I have not ever tracked the car and don't take out in the rain or snow.
Let me know if you need to know more and I'll be happy to fill you in.
