Equipped with a twin-turbocharged Mezger flat-six engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, this 2004 Porsche 996 Turbo Cabriolet is finished in Seal Grey Metallic over a Black full leather interior. Factory options include supple leather, heated front seats, the Carbon Package, and the Aluminum/Chrome Package, while upgrades consist of a body-color lower front spoiler, an enhanced exhaust system, and 18" MOMO wheels. Previously sold here on PCARMARKET, this Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Connecticut with approximately 65k miles showing on the odometer.
Compared to the standard Carrera, the widened 996 Turbo-specific bodywork includes side air intakes, unique bumpers, sculpted side skirts, and a distinctive speed-activated rear spoiler. The exterior is finished in Seal Grey Metallic with a black retractable soft top and features Exclusive stainless-steel tailpipes as part of the Aluminum/Chrome Package. Modifications include a painted front spoiler lip, smoked LED taillights, and 18” MOMO wheels with Porsche-crested center caps and Michelin Pilot Sport N3 tires from 2016 and 2017. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report noting an accident in April 2009 and minor damage in January 2015.
The Black full leather interior is complemented by the optional Carbon Package (Small), along with aluminum-look instrument dials included with the Aluminum/Chrome Package. An aftermarket head unit with a reversing camera has also been installed. The seller notes that the spoiler deployment warning occasionally illuminates. A list of factory options is provided below:
Derived from the GT1 Le Mans car, this 996 Turbo is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine that produces up to 415 HP and 415 lb.-ft of torque stock. A 6-speed manual transmission sends power to all four wheels. An upgraded exhaust system with catalytic converters has been installed. Under prior ownership, the car underwent a thorough inspection, and any necessary maintenance was addressed, including all convertible pistons being rebuilt and fitted with upgraded seals. A total of 29 service history records are shown on the CARFAX report.
This sale will include a wind deflector and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “996 Turbos are fantastic cars, the Metzger powerplants are bulletproof even when tuned up to make more power. The modern 911 turbo is nothing like this analog feeling 996TT, it’s the perfect mix of classic feel with modern amenities and reliability! This example is specifically appealing; it is specified in a classic and inoffensive color combination alongside some thoughtful upgrades like MOMO wheels and an upgraded exhaust! It is a perfect top-down, performance PCAR!”

@palmerd27 given that it sold in March for 49.5, I doubt it.

@mineralfarmer interesting! I had to do them on my 997, agreed it’s not cheap!
@EnthusiasticEnthusiast oh no, I had mine blow on my 996 Turbo at 15 years of age and 86,000 miles. Had to have it towed 300 miles and repaired for many thousands of dollars. Quite common actually.
@mineralfarmer not that we have on hand no, my understanding is that it’s much more of a 997 turbo issue Vs the 996.
Thanks!
I don't suppose there's any record of the cooling pipes being pinned or welded is there?
Bid in the amount of $33,750
@EnthusiasticEnthusiast okay, but I've never known a Basic 5000 Mi annual service to include an alignment. There's no records of an alignment for the first 48,000 miles and then since the January 2015 accident there's been four alignments. Nothing normal about that. But glad to know it's tracking straight. Hopefully the tires are wearing evenly.

@mineralfarmer that’s a fair point to make although looking at the records, alignments were done alongside fluid changes. Mostly likely just a service that’s included in any basic 5k mile/1 year service.
The car tracks straight and doesn’t pull to any side that I’ve noticed, even under braking.
Thanks!

Is anyone beside me concerned about the very frequent alignments since the second accident? Is this what is holding the bidding down?
Final few hours! best of luck everyone!!!!
@pbroadwa Pic 76 shows what I would call an abrasion yes, it looks like it was rubbing somewhere. There is no hole, just a bit of wear on the material.
NO flaws that we have noticed other than the intermittent spoiler deploy light.
We do not have physical records other than what was stated in the carfax.
Thanks!
Bid in the amount of $30,000
Also, do you have any copies of previous services outside of the Carfax report?
A couple of last things. Is picture #76 the start of a perforation on the top? Is there anything outside of the intermittent spoiler deployment light that is not functioning properly? I'm factoring in what it needs at a minimum in my bid.
@pbroadwa We don't have a definitive answer on that unfortunately. Any prospective buyer could safely assume that it is possibly the original clutch as we have no record/receipt of that being replaced. Pedal feel is good.
Thanks
Still the original clutch?
@mineralfarmer The current/mounted set is the only set included in the sale.
Thanks!
Are the original Wheels available?

@Ripstick19 Not particularly. The owner of the car lives quite far away in Alaska, he sent the car to us to store and subsequently list. He purchased it from the prior seller roughly 6 months ago and due to some unforeseen opportunities he is pursuing, he is looking for as much liquidity as possible. We also sold his 928S4 a few months ago for the same reason.
Thanks!
Is there any particular reason that this car has changed hands twice in the last 5 months?
