Finished in Seal Grey Metallic over a Graphite Grey full leather interior, this 2004 Porsche 996 Turbo Cabriolet was generously optioned with deviated carpeting and stitching, carbon fiber trim, body-color accents, and the X50 Turbo Power Kit which increases the output from its 3.6-liter Mezger engine. This 996 has also been upgraded with an aftermarket Speedtech exhaust, GIAC tune, Sachs clutch, and a Porsche Classic head unit featuring navigation and AppleCarPlay. Acquired by the current owner in 2021 and treated to a host of recent service items, this Turbo is now being offered for auction out of Illinois with approximately 84k miles showing on the odometer.

The exterior is finished in Seal Grey Metallic and features Turbo-specific bodywork including unique bumpers, wide fenders with rear side air intakes, and a speed-activated rear spoiler. Equipment includes a Graphite Grey convertible top, red-painted brake calipers, a rear model designation delete, and 18” Turbo hollow-spoke wheels. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The Graphite Grey full leather interior includes optional supple leather seats, carbon fiber trim, deviated black carpeting, and stitching for the seats, dashboard, and door panels. Other options include metal door sill model insignias, a rear center console and instrument dials painted in the exterior color, a three-spoke steering wheel in carbon fiber, a storage bin lid with an embossed Porsche crest, and carbon/aluminum trim for the shifter and handbrake lever. The driver is provided with automatic climate control, adjustable lumbar support, heated seats, the Parking Assist System, and an upgraded Porsche Classic (PCCM+) featuring Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and navigation. A wired radar detector mount is also attached to the rearview mirror.

Originally rated at 444 HP and 457 lb.-ft of torque when equipped with the X50 Power Kit, the twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter Mezger engine drives all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. An upgraded Sachs clutch was installed by the current owner in the last 12k miles along with welded coolant pipes, and a 2.5” Speedtech cat-less X-pipe exhaust system. A GIAC performance tune was applied by the previous owner. The original exhaust and catalytic converters are said to be included. Service completed within the last 12k miles includes all new brake pads and rotors, new spark plugs, a new fuel pump, and replacement K24 turbochargers. The seller adds that routine oil changes have been performed every 4k-5k miles during their two years and approximately 20k miles of ownership.

This sale will include a clean title.

@ToddH677 car comes with the following:

    * two additional sets of wheels, both on 5+ year old rubber. Chrome hollow spoke turbo twists and winter wheels

    * stock exhaust with cats

    * original navigation unit and 6-CD changer

  • ToddH677 (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Looks like extra wheels and tires and stock muffler, anything else?

@teamchinman appreciate everyone's continued interest and due diligence.

Yes, the stock exhaust and cats are included with the sale. I requested photos from the mechanic of the stock exhaust, and I will upload them as soon as they are received.

The GIAC tune comes with a controller than can reflash the car to stock. The controller is included with the sale

  • teamchinman (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Stock Cats are included? The write up said "said to be included" so wanting to clarify as a CA bidder - so between the tune and the cats I may have some work to do - is the tune (ECM) able to be reflashed back to stock and then back to GIAC once done with emissions. 6'2" and in San Diego so we shall see, lots of interested watchers.

    Appreciate your time.

The reason I bought a 2003 model was because that one had the improved g50 transmission and the last year model with the 964 engine part number where the engine blocks are stamped made in Germany, anyway I wonder where this one was made.

@mivmont Very useful info re: what mods have been done to this one so far. I like that it's OEM+, which leaves me room to go OEM+++ if I want to when I bring this to SEA. :)

@luis.seneriz looks like we've both got great road trips planned with this one if we take it home. :)

@luis.seneriz Hi Luis, appreciate your interest. Please see below:

    * The K24s are remanufactured units and are factory spec
    * I have seen a max of ~1.2 bar, usually averages 0.5-.07 bar during open throttle
    * Exhaust only, factory headers
    * Stock intercoolers with refreshed and updated valves

Please let me know if you have any other questions and I am happy to get you that dinner! Chicago to Houston isn't even bad, I did a brutal but one day trip helping a friend move. You'll burn through its last tank of Chicago gas in to time

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

I’m interested, it’s a convertible and it’s modified. A few questions, are the new K24s factory spec or hybrids?, with the giac tune what’s the max boost you see?, I see it has a speed Tech exhaust, do you have headers also? Finally ate in the intercoolers stock, bigger and does the car has
Performance intercooler pipes and diverter valves? Luis in Texas, and yes I’m having that steak dinner with you if I win it and I’m driving it home. My 99 coupe I drove from Wisconsin 1300 miles, my 03 turbo that I bought here last
April I drove from California 1698 miles both trips non stop. thanks for offering to fill the tank, you guys are paying out of the wazzu for fuel in Chicago, I filled my turbo yesterday and paid $3.69 for shell v power 93, if it is a consolation ask the California guys what the are paying for 91 octane. @floman thank you! And surprisingly accommodating for taller and bigger drivers. No dead pedal but the box is decently far from the seat and there is plenty of room to stretch your legs on a longer drive. Heated seats and the adjustable rear 3/4 windows help with creating a comfortable experience

  • mivmont (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@PetarVNik that my thesis with this car. Fix everything and then daily drive - it has been an absolute pleasure to enjoy the privilege of using this for every drive that life has to offer. It is very much turn key ready, and if anyone finds themselves wanting to drive this cross country, you will find a clean car, full tank of gas, ride from the airport and dinner on me if you come to Chicago! Just need to arrange shipping two additional sets of wheels to its new home!

  • floman (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

How is the legroom at 6'2"? Gorgeous car.

  • PetarVNik (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Beautiful 996 Turbo, I've been eyeing up 996TT cabs on all the platforms lately, and this appears to be one of the best-documented drivers I've come across. Honestly, ultra-low miles on a 20-year-old car would scare me more than one that's been used and enjoyed!

@seller, I see you put on quite a few miles on this 996 last year! I'd be planning to drive this home from Chicago to Seattle, in the event I am lucky enough to take this home, would there be anything I should consider before such a drive? Or would you say the car's turnkey ready for a 2000-mile trek?

Thanks, GLWTA, I'll be watching closely! :)

@Blubusdrvr I was a little worried about that video but I hope most people understand that Chicago in March can still be a bit .. chilly. Good luck with your listing!

  • mivmont (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@Nj993c2 ha! It has not been the easiest at 6'2". However, the roof is actually taller than the top of the windshield. I need to just slip a little down the seat and I fit just fine. I managed 9,000 miles in August 2022 between Chicago, San Diego, Los Angeles, Monterey and San Francisco. I can personally attest it makes a comfortable GT!

Holy Smoke! (I kid, I kid) Beautiful car, this one will do well. The X50 is a special beast. I'll be watching this one closely as I'll probably be selling an '04 X50 Cab later this spring. Has the IMS been done? Hahaha.

Hi everyone! Excited to get this auction going. As much as I will miss this car, I have a new Carrera T floating somewhere off the coast of Canada. I will be monitoring this auction closely and am happy to answer any questions. I work throughout the business day, so photo requests will be executed in the morning or evening. Happy bidding!
