Up for auction is this 2004 Porsche 996 Carrera Cabriolet finished in Polar Silver Metallic over a Metropol Blue interior. This nicely appointed 6-speed Cabriolet commanded an original sticker price of over $88k with options including leather Sport Seats, Porsche crested headrests, and the Aluminum/Chrome Package. Benefitting from a replacement clutch and IMS bearing, this 996 was previously listed on PCARMARKET and is now being offered for auction once again by its seller out of Georgia showing just over 35k miles on the odometer.
This Carrera is finished in Polar Silver Metallic with a Metropol Blue cabriolet top. Exclusive stainless-steel tailpipes are also included as part of the Aluminum/Chrome Package (Y29). The seller reports several minor stone chips throughout the exterior as well as a few touched-up chips in the driver’s door jamb, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report. This 996 was optioned with 18” Light Alloy Carrera wheels that are currently dressed in a set of Continental ExtremeContact tires.
The driver is situated within a Metropol Blue interior featuring heated leather Sport Seats with Exclusive Porsche crested headrests. Optional stainless steel door entry guards with model logos are equipped along with aluminum-look instrument dials as part of the Aluminum/Chrome Package. Other factory options include a shifter and brake handle in leather/aluminum and the Bose High-End Sound Package. An upgraded Sony radio has been installed along with a separate amplifier and the original Porsche radio will be included with the sale as well. Some wear is depicted on the seatbacks and the seller reports all instrumentation and accessories to be fully functional, although the driver’s seat heating is noted to come on slowly.
This 996 Carrera derives up to 320 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque from a 3.6L flat-six engine, driving rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. The IMS bearing is said to have been replaced along with a new clutch at 28k miles. The CARFAX report shows additional maintenance history including a 15k-mile service completed at Porsche Gold Coast in 2010 and a more recent service by an independent specialist in May of 2021.
This sale will include a set of owner's manuals, the original Porsche CDR23 radio, a spare tire, and a clean title.

@SVOMustang No reason, just didn't think about it. Sorry
Any reason why there are no undercarriage pictures posted?
@CP_VT The car is in Savannah, GA. I moved there in December
Also, just to clarify, is the car in GA or NY? Listing says Savannah, but I see NY plates.
Thank you!
@racingredsc no rust. I don't think it has been in the rain more than 10 times
Bid in the amount of $19,000
Any rust?
Coming down to the end of the auction. Accepting all bids. :)
Bid in the amount of $18,250
@kbbcpa5 no problem at all, just add gas and your on your way. I’ll even have it filled up for you.
Would any issue(s) need to be addressed before a drive back to North Carolina?
@kbbcpa5 yes it has the original engine
@kbbcpa5 Unfortunately, I don't know what brand OMS bearing they used and the clutch didn't need to be done, but since he had it opened for the bearing I decided to have it done. The car has never been painted to my knowledge.
What brand of IMS bearing was used for the replacement? Any paintwork done at all? Does it have its original engine? Why was the clutch replaced at such low mileage? Thanks!

Hello 155mph, I agree with your comment. This is a great car at a great price for someone who wants to drive a Porsche. The auction ends today at 3:30 ET so I'm expecting a lot of activity today...bring it on!
I find it somewhat surprising that there are no comments or questions about this car. Is everyone sleeping? Losing interest? Is the 996 market saturated?
Bid in the amount of $13,500
