This 2004 Porsche 996 Turbo Cabriolet comes finished in Black over a black full leather interior and features a 6-speed manual transmission paired with its 3.6-liter Mezger engine along with an upgraded Sharkwerks exhaust system and pinned coolant lines. Initially delivered at Porsche Walnut Creek, California, this example has remained a California car until 2022. It is now being offered by its seller out of Michigan showing approximately 112k miles on the odometer.

This 996 comes finished in Black with a matching soft top. Details include red-finished brake calipers, 18” Turbo Twist wheels, a speed-activated rear spoiler, and optional stainless steel exhaust pipes. Hubcentric wheel spacers measuring 15mm up front and 18mm out back have been installed by an authorized Porsche dealer. The seller adds that two lift cylinders were replaced for the rear spoiler in November 2019. Minor signs of road wear are noted on the front fascia and hood, and a full detail and ceramic coating were carried out in April 2023. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin presents black full leather upholstery including heated front seats, lumbar support for the driver’s seat, a thicker steering wheel, and black floor mats with Porsche lettering. Additional features include Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with navigation, automatic climate control, and a wind deflector. The seller notes minor wear on the driver’s side seat bolster and the driver’s window was adjusted in December 2022.

The twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six Mezger engine produces up to 415 HP and 415 lb.-ft of torque, driving all four wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. The seller adds that a Sharkwerks exhaust system has been installed by an authorized Porsche dealer in 2010 at approximately $5k and coolant lines have been pinned. Notable service history is said to include hydraulic lines replaced in November 2019, both front half shafts joints rebuilt in December 2022, and an oil change, oil filter change, and brake fluid flush in April 2023. The CARFAX report shows a total of 29 service history records dating back to the initial delivery.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, sales literature, a Navigation disc, and some service documentation.

@JPD You're very welcome and thank you for the thorough responses. I was very surprised to see it up for sale again after the recent acquisition. I'm sure you're heartbroken to let it go. All the best.

@PacketNarc I had the PPF removed which covered both front fenders, hood and the bumper fascia. The PPF was 10+ years old, yellowed, pitted, degrading and just plain ugly however it served it's purpose and protected the surfaces remarkably well. No paint touch-up or filling work was done. All original paint. I had the car detailed inside and out and the photos show the result! A new owner may wish to put new PPF on it. Good to go!

Regarding the supposedly bent front wheel, I had it checked at the wheel repair facility for axial and radial runout, and nd tested for cracks and integrity. The wheel was good but tire sidewall was trashed. I replaced the tire with the same brand/model as on the other wheels. I had my indy Porsche mechanic inspect front end for any unusual impact issues, none were found. Smooth as silk. Good to go!

The CV shafts appeared to be the original with original oetiker type band clamps intact. Outer boots were torn but the area was clean hidden behind the underbody's front cover shield. I had my indy Porsche mechanic remove both the front half-shafts, fully disassemble the all 4 CV joints, flush and clean all 4 CV joint and repack them with grease and replace the boots (from FCP repair kit) and clamps with new. Tight and good to go!

I am surprised you didn't note the multiple dings that were present in the photos from when I purchased the car. My ding specialist put a bunch of hours into getting them just perfect. Amazing what the skilled craftsman can accomplish.

I purchased this car as my keeper car for my retirement and put a bunch of time, effort and money into to meet my standards. Unfortunately I had a medical event that has rendered me unable to drive stick.......sometime life really sucks.

I can account for $45,474 out of pocket in the car.

Not a pristine garage queen but it is an exceptional condition driver. Great value at $45k. Somebody is going to get a deal. All the work has been done!

    Thanks for the constructive comments.

Great assortment of photos. The front bumper skin was heavily pocked / chipped in previous photos. Has this been filled / restored or just polished ? It looks great from the photos considering age. Just curious.

Also, has then bent front left wheel mentioned in the previous sale been repaired ? Did you note any strut, spring perch or strut bearing damage as a result ? How are the bump stops ?

What would you estimate / guess the age or state of the CV shafts to be ? Original or reman / repl. ? Is there note of replacement boots on the fronts ? (I can see the rears look great in your photos.)

All in all a very clean ride. Would be a privilege to park it at Chili's take-out window and be a high roller :)

I have forwarded the current CARFAX to PCARMARKET and requested that they post it. Yes I would consider getting a PPI completed.

  • whistles13 (registered bidder) 1 year, 7 monthsago

Have you had a PPI done, or would you consider getting one done? Also, would you mind posting the clean CarFAX? Thanks!
